DIY Spot Treatment to Cure Pimples and Acne Overnight

Pimple..!! Such nightmare huun?

Causes may differ. Some are due to hormonal changes, some due to reaction and some indicating underling health issues..!

Today I am sharing a home remedy to cure pimples/ acne. We need three ingredients to make this mask that we are going to treat as a spot treatment.

  1. Turmeric – for its antiseptic property.
  2. Fuller earth – heals pimples and fades scars.
  3. Rosewater – Again it is used because it has antibacterial properties to cure acne. If you do not have rose water handy, you can also take normal water to make the paste.

Mix the ingredients to get a paste like consistency. It should have consistency of a paste because it should neither be too thick nor too runny. In either cases application becomes difficult.!

As mentioned earlier it is a spot treatment. We are not going to apply the mask on entire face. Instead, we are going to apply only on problematic areas/ on pimples and acne.

Wait for sometime to let it dry.

Now this is optional – you can wash this away or you can leave it work on your skin overnight. I prefer second method. As the mask is already dry, it won’t mess my pillow sheets plus it gets ample amount of time to work it’s magic.!

With two to three days of usage, it is going to cure pimples.!

Mygirlypedia Note:

Some people are allergic to natural ingredients. I would suggest you to patch test before you use it on face.

Healing depends on individual body types. I have suggested this to many of my friends. For some it has worked pithing one single night. For some it too 2-3 nights. But the good news is, it worked for all.!

If you give it a try, don’t forget to give a shout-out to Mygirlypedia..!

  3. Helps in reducing dark spots.
  4. Acts as a mild scrub and removes dead skin cells.

Review of Hibiscus Gel By Puremie

Since the lockdown, most of us are spending time and money on skin care than any makeup product. For taking care of skin, homemade DIY stuffs are something that is keeping us occupied and skincare game interesting.!

Last year while browsing through Instagram, I came across this brand called Puremie. This brand offers clean and raw DIY stuffs that can be used in our skin care or hair care DIYs.

I have bought some of their gels and masking materials. Today reviewing one of those products.

They have 5 different gels that are their best sellers. Bought Aloe Vera Gel and Hibiscus gel out of those 5. Here is the detailed review of Hibiscus gel.

Mygirlypedia.com

Price : 350 INR for 100 gms

Mygirlypedia.com

Whole ingredient list is displayed. There are couple of chemicals in it but I have found out that these are used in skin care products and they are safe to be used.

It comes in a glass jar packing. Transparent packing makes it easier to keep an eye on the product inside the jar.

All the details are printed on the sticker.

Screw lid is convenient to use.

Color:

It looks like fire. Isn’t it?

Mygirlypedia.com

Fragrance:

Fresh fragrance with aqua based note. Not at all strong.

Consistency:

Non sticky, non greasy formula.

My experience:

I used it directly on my hair and face. Application is easy. It is not at all messy. Once applied, doesn’t feel heavy. Washing it off was also easy. I didn’t have to wash it multiple times to clean it fully. One wash was enough. That’s something cool especially if you have long hair. Post using it, it made my hair super soft and silky. Best thing is it reduces scalp’s oiliness.

For skin, it moisturised my skin. Did not cause any breakouts.

Mygirlypedia.com

Pros:

  1. Eco friendly packing.
  2. Non greasy formula.
  3. Doesn’t feel heavy.
  4. Ingredient list is safe.
  5. Makes hair soft and silky.
  6. Reduces scalp oiliness.
  7. Moisturises skin.

Cons:

  1. Jar packing is not hygienic. Since it is a DIY product, workaround would be to transfer the gel in the required quantity to other container/ plate to use.!

Mygirlypedia Rating: 4.9/5

Final Verdict:

This jar is my third purchase. With the price, quantity and most importantly, the results are enough to buy this jar again and again.

Even though it is a chemical free product, I would suggest you to try out patch test first before using it on entire face. Because some are allergic to natural ingredients.

Puremie does not have website. They operate via Instagram DMs. Here is the link to their page, where you can checkout their products/ reviews/ shop. : https://instagram.com/puremieskincare?igshid=12yu7fuloen9a

How to and Why to Use Microfibre Head Wrap

Hair when wet, is prone to breakage. Wet hair needs extra care. I had seen many people using this microfibre hair wrap to wrap wet hair. Since I had heard good reviews about it, wanted to try it out.

Last time I had been to Decathlon, I saw a rack full of hair wraps. So bought one for myself. This post is totally dedicated to how to use and why to use a microfibre hair wrap.

This is how hair wrap looks like.

Mygirlypedia.com

It’s super soft and smaller than body towel. Big enough to cover head.!

It has a button and a band.

Now take all the hair forward and with button side of the wrap should be behind your head, put the hair wrap as shown below.

Twist a bit.

Put the band around the button. It acts like a lock system and makes sure the wrap is in place.!

Mygirlypedia.com

Now that we know how to use, let’s see why to use.

  1. Microfibre wrap is very gentle to hair.
  2. Absorption of water is faster so hair dries quickly.
  3. It does not leave your hair dry.
  4. It doesn’t damage your hair like any hot hair styling tools would.

What is The Difference Between Body Scrub and Body Polish? Review of My Most Used Body Polish

Who doesn’t like healthy, soft and plump skin? To achieve that, regularly scrubbing away dead cells would be the first step.

How much is too much? While once or twice a week is what suggested, you can do it as per your skin needs. But make sure you don’t use scrubs daily. Because, no matter how dry our skin might be, it definitely doesn’t need daily scrubbing!

Talking about body scrub let’s get to know it’s sister product- Body Polish.

So what is the difference between body scrub and body polish?
Well, they look same & technically do same task – scrubbing/ removing dead skin cells to leave your skin super soft. But there in one added benefit with body scrub.

Body scrubs exfoliate skin plus they cleanse the skin. Whereas body polish exfoliates your skin but doesn’t have cleansing property!

I have been using this body polish from the brand Dove lately (since last year to be precise.) lets’ know this
product better. Shall we?

Brand: Dove

Variant: Crushed macadamia price milk

Price: INR 699 298g

Shelf life: 20 months

Ingredients:

Packing: It comes in a white sturdy plastic packing. It is a screw lid, quite tight enough. So no worries of any spillage or breakage.

Details about the product, usage, everything is mentioned on it.

I am not a fan of tub packing for hygiene concern. But this is used while in bath so our hands are usually cleansed!! Plus this is a bit runny so can be poured out from the tub.

Fragrance: It smells like a dessert made of vanilla essence and yummy white chocolate. Trust me, every time when I open the lid, I feel like getting a spoon & start eating it. #sweettooth.

Texture: It’s neither thick nor too light. It is like a cream, a bit runny. Scrubbing /polishing granules are not
big or harsh. They are quite mild.

Experience: Even though it is mentioned on it to be used 3- 4 times a week, I use it once or max
twice a week.

My skin is quite dry. Usually skin will be left dry after exfoliation but this one is one exception. It did made my skin soft, so I can say exfoliation is done well by it. Plus, it adds a kind of moisture because of which I don’t feel the need of using a moisturises right after the bath. So my dry skin is happy.!

Pros:
1. Scrubs away dead skin cells well.
2. Smells amazing.
3. Does not dry your skin.
4.. Little goes long way.
5. Sturdy packing.

Cons:
I did not find any!!

Mygirlypedia Note:

For the job it does, for the quantity required, price is totally justifiable. Also, the product is usually on a discounted price on online store. Plus, if you have a sweet tooth, you should give this a try! So, yep, I would love to recommend this pocket friendly body care product.

Mygirlypedia Rating: 5/5.

Homemade Hair Mask for Your Precious Crown

Hello,

Mygirlypedia can not just stress more on the fact ‘Hair is our crown’. With our current lifestyle, food habits, our hair is something that gets more affected (of course followed by overall health..!) So to care of our crown, I am sharing one more homemade, chemical free hair care recipe.

rapunzel tangled gif girl GIF by Auaura-icebreaker;)

Just like us, our hair also needs those extra pampering sessions. Don’t you think?? Hair masks are apt for treating our hair well. Those goodness a mask adds to our hair strand and scalp makes it all worth it.

Today’s hair mask is targeting scalp issues and our biggest nightmare – hair loss.!

To begin with, let us see what are the ingredients that we need to make this mask.

1. Ghee

2. Aloe vera Gel

3. Hibiscus Petal Powder

Mygirlypedia.com

Let us see what is the role of each ingredient.

Ghee:

It is one of the sacred ingredients when it comes to Ayurveda and all the holy rituals. It has a lot of benefits to offer when consumed or when applied. First and most important one being, moisturization. When hair is dry and brittle, that is when it is weakest. Because dry frizzy hair is more prone to breakage. List of benefits of using ghee is way too long. I have one entire video filmed to explain the benefits of ghee. You can watch it here.

Aloe Vera Gel:

This ingredient doesn’t need a lot of introduction.!
Major points why this is used in this particular mask are:

1. Calms itchy scalp.

2. Deep cleanses hair.

3. Repairs and strengthens hair.

4. Helps hair growth.

If you are interested to know how to use Aloe Vera Gel for healthy eyes, lips and nail, you can read this post.

Hibiscus Petal Powder:

This is the ingredient that adds this colour to the mask. Apart from adding the tint, it has these things to offer:

1. Makes hair stronger.

2. Conditions hair.

3. Fights hair loss.

4. Prevents premature greying.

Mix the ingredients and apply it on to your hair. Leave it for 20-30 minutes. Wash it with regular cleanser/ shampoo.

Mygirlypedia Note:

1. Ghee is very moisturising. I did not feel the need to use conditioner post shampooing. Again, it depends on your hair needs. If you feel your hair needs more conditioning, follow shampoo with conditioner.

2. Ghee is also greasy. You might need more cleanser to clean it thoroughly.

Hope you find this mask useful. If you try this, please let me know your reviews too..!!

12 Ways You Can Use Baby Oil In your Skin Hair and Self Care Routine

When it comes to skin care or any product in general, we all love multipurpose one. I mean a product that can be used in multiple ways. Sounds so time saving and of course economic..! Isn’t it?

If you are following my BUDGET BEAUTY series on YouTube, here is one more to the list – Baby oil.

Baby oil or if you consider baby products as a whole, they are very mild and can also be used by adults. Yes.! So baby oil is not just for a baby, it is for someone as precious as a baby, you..!

Now let’s see how we can use it in 12 different ways in our daily skin, hair and self care. Ready?

Which one would you like to go with? Let’s go with skin care first. What’s say??

Skin Care:

  1. Face Oil:

This is again a debatable topic whether baby oil is good to be applied on face. Well the last time I checked it is quiet light weight hence most of the people do approve it. I personally find it working for my dry skin. But if you have sensitive or acne prone skin, I don’t really suggest oil for face.!

2. Under Eye Treatment:

If you do not have budget for eye cream, baby oil can come handy. Apply a layer of baby oil on the under eye are and you can pat a tissue to absorb the extra oiliness. This will add moisture and takes care of the delicate under eye area.

3. Makeup Remover:

We spend so much money on makeup removal products. Balm, cleanser, wipes, oil etc etc. Do you know baby oil exactly works like a makeup remover?? Plus the added moisture..!

4. Lip Scrub:

Dry and chapped lips? Make a lip scrub at home using baby oil as a base.! You can mix it with sugar or rose petal powder to scrub away dead skin cells..! Hello soft pink lips.!

Hair Care:

For Dry Frizzy Hair:

Na na, if you are thinking of applying baby oil directly to your hair, no, not suggested.! Then how to use it? If you have dry frizzy hair that needs instant hydration and shine, take few drops of baby oil on a tissue. Now run it through your hair.! This will make sure your hair gets adequate amount of hydration plus shine without making it look greasy.!

Body Care:

  1. Bath Oil:

If you are a dry skin beauty yet you love long hot showers, add few drops of baby oil to your bathing water. It will make sure your skin doesn’t lose it’s moisture while you enjoy your hot water bath.

2. Body Moisturiser:

To make your skin look and feel moisturised for long, apply few drops of baby oil on to the damp skin right after getting out of bath. This will helps to lock the moisture thus serving the purpose.

3. Cuticle Oil:

In order to make your nail grow stronger and longer, cuticle care is important. If you are thinking of spending money on cuticle oil, hold on, instead spend it on baby oil. It is much cheaper and acts exactly like cuticle oil if applied on cuticles before going to bed every night.

Self Care:

  1. Shaving Cream:

When we are in hurry and want to get rid of unwanted hair, we do reach out for razor. In order to make the razor glad smoothly, we need shaving cream or oil. Baby oil can be used for this purpose.!

2. Post Waxing Aid:

Do you use wax strips for hair removal? I do.! As much as I love how clean it makes my hands and feet feel, I hate the fact that it does leave these nasty sticky patches. Getting rid of them is a whole different task all together. In those situations, baby oil comes as a great help. Just apply a layer of baby oil, massage a while and wash. Wo clean skin..!

Makeup:

Yes baby oil can be used in daily makeup routine. How?

  1. As a Highlighter:

Highlighters are the quick fix to get that glow. Baby oil can replace highlighters.! Add few drops of baby oil to your foundation/ BB Cream/ CC cream or moisturiser and enjoy that dewy glow.!

2. Lipstick to Lipgloss:

Wanna see magic? Let’s turn your favourite lipstick into gloss. Apply your lipstick. Now dab few drops of baby oil on top of it. Now isn’t it cool??

Hope you find this post useful..!
