Who doesn’t like a long shower or relaxing bath…!?? We all do. I know not everyone has the privilege of enjoying a long bath in a bath tub. (nor time to enjoy it every morning)… Least we can do to enjoy the bath is to chose a nice aromatic bath gel or a bath cream. Usually post bath, our skin scream for more moisture. Choosing a moisturizing shower cream would be a wise idea.
The other day I had been to The body shop outlet in Westend mall Pune to do a mini haul. Since I was bored with the shower cream I was using, I picked up this one. Only point which made me pick this up was its fragrance. It’s a sweetest fragrance. Smells like sweet candies.
Well, did it any good to my skin??? Read on…

Comes in a transparent sturdy plastic bottle. Transparency makes it easy to get to know the quantity left inside.
The flip open cap is an advantage. As you can squeeze the bottle and get required quantity of cream out.
The cap is quite tight so no worries of spillage.
PS: in the past I have used many shower gels from The Body Shop. If you drop the bottle down, you might end up breaking the cap. Thus making it difficult to carry while you travel.
Till you break it, you are good to carry this with you while you travel.
This is a typical the body shop fragrance. This the fragrance you smell when you enter the shop.
This is a fresh candy fragrance, neither light nor empowering fragrance.
Does it lathers well :
Not really. That’s the major difference between a shower gel and a cream. Shower cream is thick in texture thus doesn’t lather as good as a gel does.
Is it moisturizing :
Yes shower creams are moisturizing than a gel. This one is moisturizing. Post shower it doesn’t makes my skin dry. But you do require a good moisturizer post bath in winters. For summers a lighter body cream will do.
Does the fragrance lasts for long :
No. This is a turn down. Post bath also I could hardly smell that sweet fragrance.
Ah the name it self sounds so relaxing… Imagine a soothing, calming, aromatic long bath. With candles around and a soft music. Ahhh all the stress of the day will be out of your sight. Bliss…
Let us know some interesting things about this stress buster more… What’s say??? Read on…

Winter makes our skin dry and flaky. Isn’t it??? We do take a good care of our face by exfoliating it and by using different products. What about body??? Those dry arms and legs will never let you look good…!!! By taking a little more effort alternate day, we can achieve that perfect glowing skin. When the effort I’m talking about is so easy, I am sure you will include this in your beauty regime for sure.
So, today’s beauty treatment is for the removal of dry skin layer. How??? By exfoliation of course. But, this is a different from all other exfoliation methods. Dry Brushing.
As it sounds, we are going to use dry brush to brush away dry skin. It has multiple benefits apart from making skin soft. Wanna know in detail??? Read on…!!!
Let me start with right brush selection. After all we need a right weapon to win the war… Just kidding..!!!
There are multiple types of brushes available in the market which are used for dry brushing. Frankly speaking, different brushes works differently on different individuals. So, what I would personally suggest you is to get the brush from a local drug store instead of purchasing it online. Because you don’t know how soft or hard the bristles are. Thus, you better check it before buying it. Also, most of the online sites do not provide return options on personal care products for obvious reasons.
One more point to check for while choosing a brush is the length of the handle. It should be long enough to reach your back comfortably.
Once you are done with getting the required stuff, lets know how it is done.
How Dry Brushing is Done ???
It is simple. You got to do this treatment before taking shower or before getting wet. Thus the name ‘dry brushing’. Also make sure you are doing it inside bathroom because when you brush your body, the dry skin flakes do fall on the ground(for extremely dry skin). So, to keep the process clean, carry it in bathroom.
Brush your body with the help of brush gently.
Major point to consider is, you need to start brushing your feet first then legs and end it on your chest, towards heart. I will tell you the reason behind it.
What are the Uses of Dry Brushing ???
There are multiple uses of dry brushing your body. To list few :
It Stimulates Lymphatic System –
Lymphatic system is nothing but the system which is responsible for eliminating cellular wastes. Lymphatic tubules which are said to run just below the skin layer should function properly in order to keep our body away from toxic impurities. If they don’t, the accumulation of toxins may cause to some serious health issues. So, when you dry brush, the lymphatic tubules are stimulated. Thus increase their productivity. It is done bottom up manner because, the lymph systems drains in heart. Hence always brush towards chest area.
As I have mentioned, the dry flaky layer of skin gets brushed away. Thus leaving skin soft, supple. Glowing skin – Brushing helps in stimulating blood vessels. Thus increases the blood circulation which results in glowing skin.
Reduces Cellulite –
This is quite common among ladies. Cellulites are nothing but the cottage cheese like dimple on the skin. Usually thighs, stomach, back, around the hips, buttocks and breasts. It has been proved that the regular dry brushing do reduces the cellulite. #HappyDance
Energy Booster –
Many people claim that, dry brushing boost their energy level. You can use this as a stress buster too. Wow stress buster which leaves skin soft, double treat isn’t it???
Cleans the Pores –
If you use soft brush on your face, it is proved to clean the pores perfectly. BUT make sure the bristles are really REALLY SOFT. You do get FACIAL BRUSH in the market.
here are some of the things you need to take care about –
Be gentle. Do not brush the skin roughly, if you do so – you will end up doing more harm than good.
Post bath, don’t forget to apply good moisturizer to seal in the moisture.
Hygiene is important. Always clean the brush with warm water and soap to keep it germ free.
Mainly, do not over brush the skin. Because you don’t want to steal the natural oils of skin. Do you??? I would suggest you to do it on alternative days if your skin is extremely dry. If not, 2-3 times a week should also work for you.
Do not use body brush for exfoliating face. Facial skin is very delicate compared to body skin. As I have mentioned above, opt for a facial brush for dry brushing face.
Usually dry brushing is done in the morning. Since it has been proved that it increases the energy level, you might end up losing your sleep if you do this exfoliation in the evening.
Voila..!!! Now you know one more exfoliation method…!!!
Hope you find it useful…!!!

I have oily scalp too. Hair gets greasy within a day or two after hair wash. I have few quick tips.
First step we can do is, we need to comb hair multiple times. This will spread/evenly distribute the natural oil secreted. You can choose write comb by referring this post.
Second, wash your hair with mild shampoo 2-3 times a week. Avoid washing it daily as it will steal the moisture and makes hair dry.
I had tried this supplement lately, called ‘Biotin’. This has no side effects. You can consult doctor for the dosage recommendation if you want to. But you can have max 5000mcg per day of this supplement. The regular in take will improve health of your hair and nails.
Combing hair multiple times helps in not only spreading oil but also helps in blood circulation. So is with a good massage. Massage your head before going to bed. This will help in blood circulation and you will feel relaxed and get a good sound sleep.
Hot oil therapy
You can choose a good hair oil of your choice. Add curry leaves and warm the mixture. Apply this warm oil on your scalp and massage the hair ends. Keep it overnight or keep it for 2-3 hours before washing your hair. This will moisture and nourish both scalp and hair. Thus resulting in growth of hair.
Hot towel therapy
By wrapping hot towel over your head, when you have applied oil will help to work its magics quickly. The heat helps in opening of pores thus helps oil to penetrate and nourish the roots of hair.
There are multiple yoga positions that promote growth of hair. Standing upside down being one of the famous asanas. It helps in blood circulation towards head and promotes hair growth.

Salt Epsom salt – For base. Sea Salt – For healing properties. Himalayan Pink Salt – To increase mineral quality.
Who doesn’t love the nice fragrance bathing experience. To get that aroma, we will add some essential oils.
You can choose any of the essential oil of your choice. Here are few suggestions. Floral – Rose, Lilly, jasmine Fruity – Vanilla, citrus Strong – Peppermint Mixture of any of the above.
You can add dried herbs / dried fruits / dried petals to your salt. It will add aroma and increase the effectiveness.
This is optional. But, if you add some food colors to salt it will look more attractive for sure.
For adding moisture
For whitening property
Borax and kaolin clay powder
For softening water as well as your skin. Help in curing in muscle strains and tension. Plus, they also have mineral properties.
Shall we start with the preperation???
Bath salt 1: Colorful Cutie
Take Epsom salt and sea salt, one cup each.
Take one table spoon of your favorite essential oil.
Take the dried herbs/petals/fruits. You can put the petals/herbs as a whole or you can grind them into fine powder. I personally prefer adding the powdered petals instead of adding them as a whole.
Mix the salt in a bowl.
Add the powdered petal/herbs. Mix them with the mixture of salt.
Add essential oil and food color. Stir them well. Make sure whole mixture is flavored/colored uni-formally.
Store the salt in an airtight container. Enjoy your bath by adding this salt to your bath tub.

Bath Salt 2: Moisturizing Bath
Take one cup of Epsom salt and one cup of baking soda.
Take one table spoon of essential oil and glycerin.

Raise your hand if you are up for a longgg calllllmmm mineral bath… Nice mild fragrance and candles lighten up everywhere… Sounds relaxing enough ??? OooK… I can hear you saying “yeahhh…” So today I have something of this sort of relaxing thing to try out this week…
Bath salts are the water soluble minerals, used for a great bathing experience. They are the secret to smooth skin…!!!
You might have heard that bathing in sea water cures multiple skin diseases. Just like the Sea salt, the bathing salts claim to cure skin conditions. All thanks to the minerals with soothing properties.
You must be thinking, What these salts are made up of… Major ingredients of bath salt are magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts), sodium chloride (table salt), sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), sodium hexametaphosphate (Calgon, amorphous/glassy sodium metaphosphate), borax, sodium citrate, foaming and effervescencent agents.
Some also contain glycerin in them. This helps in adding moisture to our skin.
Colors are added in order to make them look attractive. Odor added to salts helps us to have that aroma therapy experience while bathing. Oil is also added to salts for that extra health benefits.
So how does they work???
There are multiple type of bath salts available. With different colors, aroma and they serve different purposes.
Some salts like phosphate, help in exfoliation. They softens the calloused skin.
Some are water softners. They can reduce the hardness of water and help you have a great bathing experience.
High concentration salts help you feel lighter in bath. They increase the density of water thus you feel light and relaxed.
Some are meant for cleansing and moisturizing your skin.
How to use bath salts???
These are affordable and quite simple to use.
Put two cups of bath salt on a piece of cloth.
Tie it to make a bath salt bag.
Fill your bath tub with warm water.
Dip the salt bag into the water.
Get into the bath tub and enjoy the bathing time.
Irrespective of the age group and gender, everyone can enjoy the bath salts. But it’s advisable to consult a doctor before using it if you are allergic or pregnant.
You can pick any of the bath salts readily available in the market. But it’s always more beneficial to use Natural one with no added color or aroma.
I will write post about how to prepare bath salts at home, tomorrow…!!!
Now that you know how to use bath salts, buy a colorful aromatic one and do enjoy a long hot mineral bath to wash away those weekday blues… 💋

Do you agree that for every girl, her mom is her first style icon. A baby girl is so much fascinated by the beauty stuffs her mom uses. It might be a simple eyeliner or a compact. I remember the basic makeup stuffs my mom uses to use when I was young. I also remember that mom use to use a stone to keep her feet and elbows soft. Daughter wants to know each and every detail of that beauty stuffs right…??? Likewise, I used to ask my mom why does she uses this rough stone on her feet. I had heard the word ‘Pumice stone’ for the first time from her and of course why we need to use it. But, I was never convinced by that, as I was really horrified by the fact of rubbing a rough stone against my skin. Till the day, I started using one(when I grew up haha )
This Pumice stone is a porous material, formed when hot lava comes in contact with water. These are perfect for removing dead skin cells without scratching. Guess what, it was used by Romans and Greeks since ancient times.
I use Vega Pumice stone. I bought it from a local drug store. You can buy one from here
Let me tell you how to use this:
Dip your feet in warm water for a while, to make skin soft. Dry skin removal is easy when skin becomes soft. You can also use pumice stone when you are in shower.
2. Dip the pumice stone in water or hold it under running water. It is easier to slide wet stone across your feet.
3. Once the stone is completely wet, rub it against your feet in circular motion gently.
4. Wash your feet with water and you can see the difference. Feet are softer than before.
5. If you find any need for more scrubbing, repeat.
6. Once you are done with scrubbing, pat dry your feet and apply ample amount of good moisturizer to have a happy feet.
How to keep the Pumice stone clean:
Brush your pumice stone after every use. Since the stone is porous and by brushing it, will keep the pores clean.
After every wash, air dry the stone before storing it back in a dry place.
If you use it frequently, once in a while dip the stone in boiling water for a while, to kill the germs.
When the stone’s surface becomes smooth or stone becomes small, replace it.
Do you know this tool serves multiple purposes???
You can use it as a hair remover. Rub the wet stone against wet and soft hand/legs(where you want to conduct a deforestation process haha) in circular motion for a while. Your hands/legs will be free from hair…!!! This process is similar to shaving. It removes hair from skin surface rather than pulling it from its root. Make sure you don’t pres the stone roughly against the skin.
If you are worried of pills on your sweaters, Pumice stone is a hero. Rub a dry pumice stone against pills on the sweater. The porous surface of stone will remove the pills. Again, please do not rub it rigorously as I am sure you don’t want to spoil the texture of fabric. Do you???
3. Wet pumice stone can be used to clean toilets.
4. Ovens can also be cleaned by this.
5. If you are a pet lovers like me, you know how your home will be full of their tiny furs. Do you know pumice stone can be used to remove the hair from car seats, rugs and mats.???
You can use it as a manicure tool by rubbing it against your cuticle gently before applying nail paint. Do not forget to wet the stone my dear.
A pumice stone whose surface has become smooth is of no use for removing dead skin cells right. Instead of throwing it away, you can use it in your garden. Adding pumice stone in the soil, helps to retain water and hold onto essential nutrients necessary for plant growth.
These can be used as an aroma diffuser. Due to porous surface, they can absorb the essential aromatic oils. They slowly release the aroma in the air making your home smell fresh.
Those were the quick points about an affordable beauty stone, I wanted to share with you all today.
Some like short hair and some girls like me, love long locks. I am blessed with long, naturally straight but thin hair. We girls are never happy with our natural hair texture, are we??? haha Rapunzel being my #HairGoals icon during my childhood, I used to dream of long, manageable, healthy hair. But I don’t like the idea of letting the prince climb the fort using the hair… Ouch I love my hair, I cant do that. hehe
I will be sharing the hair care tips I have used or heard. So, read on to achieve “#GreatHair”
These are big No No, in order to keep your hair in good condition:
1. Over brushing:
Too much is too bad. Brushing couple of times in a day is recommended. As it stimulates the hair follicles and promotes growth. It also helps in spreading the natural hair oil which is accumulated on head over night. But, brushing your hair more often results in dry hair. I have seen some girls who scare me by brushing their tresses so fast and furiously. haha Please stop it because I can hear your locks screaming.
2. Tight hair styles:
The tight hair bands cause tension in hair strands and thus making them brittle. I would suggest to keep your hair open or tie them in a lose bun or something in order to keep them healthy.
3. Frequent use of styling tools :
Girl with straight hair dreams of curly/ wavy hair and girls with curly/ wavy hair are crazy for straight hair. I know, we girls are not always happy with what we are blessed with. So, we opt for styling tools. But, the heat for hair is not at all good. You might be applying a good protecting serum before using the heat. But beautiful, can any serum protect your skin from hot tool.? How can you believe that the serum will protect your delicate hair from burning…!!!
4. Combing wet hair:
You might have read or heard lot many times about it. Still, I would like to repeat this point. It is difficult to detangle hair before applying conditioner. When the hair is wet, it is more weak and breaks easily. So, here is the tip. Brush, detangle your hair before washing. This will reduce tangling of hair. Use your fingers to detangle, instead of comb/brush.
5. Skipping Hair conditioner:
Most of you might skip using conditioner, after washing your hair. But this is a wrong thing to do for your crown my dear…!!! Shampoos do drain out the moisture from hair to a certain extent. As the name suggests, conditioners condition your hair by adding moisture and shine. You have to apply conditioner to hair concentrating on end. Do not apply conditioner on scalp.
6. Washing hair frequently: Washing hair frequently results in dry hair. So you can wash your hair twice or thrice (if your scalp is really oily) a week.
7. Taking hot shower:
Wash your hair with warm water instead of hot water. Hot water damages the hair by making it dry and brittle.
Your diet should be healthy and rich in protein and vitamins. Junk foods do not help when it comes to health, hair and skin.
9. Coloring your hair:
If you want to try different colors on your hair, make sure you take a good care of it post coloring. You will have to use products which are meant for colored hair. Deep conditioning is a must for colored hair.
10. Chemically treated hair:
I was really fascinated by the smoothened/ straightened hair looks. The hair looks so neat and in place. I wanted to get my hair smoothed sometimes. But, when I got to know the chemicals and heat involved + the care we need to take for it, I dropped the idea. Girl, if you want to smooth-en your hair please make sure you know the procedures, products involved and you are ready to take care of your hair. Deep conditioning, oiling are must in order to maintain the health of your tresses.
We all know “Smoking kills. Cigarette is injurious to health”. It is harmful not only to your lungs but also to skin and hair. If you want to look good, start by quitting smoking.
12. Skipping haircuts: I have head people saying “If you don’t cut your hair, it won’t grow..!!!” I don’t believe in this logic. Hair growth is from the root, not from the end. I believe hair cut is necessary to remove the split ends and not for growth. Trimming the hair makes hair look healthy and bye bye split ends.
We get to live this life once, live it with no regrets and stress free as much as possible. The more stress, more damage to overall health. Smile when you still have teeth. hehe
Below are some of the tips, which your hair will be thankful for:
1. Hot oil treatment is the savior: Once in a week spend some time oiling your hair. You must have heard about importance of oiling your hair from your granny and mommy. Oiling boosts the hair growth, moisturizes scalp, hence avoids dandruff problems.
2. Invest time on certain hair masks:
There are plenty of hair masks available online. But, would love to tell you guys to go for a natural one. You can apply curd for moisture, egg for shine.
3. Let your hair dry naturally: Again, using hair drier, makes your hair weak on long run. Hence, choose air dry over driers.
4. Choose a hair shampoo with no or less harmful chemicals.
5. Pamper yourself with a spa appointment once a month:
Nothing like a relaxing spa treatment. When you get a good head massage, it makes so so relaxed and stress free. The massage also stimulated hair follicles and helps in nourishment and growth of hair.
6. Take vitamin supplements:
Sometimes, our body lacks certain vitamins. We might not be able to get those in out diet. So, its recommended to consult a doctor and take supplements. Biotin is the popular hair supplements. Consult a doctor for appropriate dosage as per your body need.
7. Apply hair serum or live in conditioner:
If you are working in AC environment, your hair tend to become dry and rough. In order to keep your hair manageable, apply a good hair serums. These serums add shine and conditions the hair. Below are some of the good serums I recommend.
8. Protect hair from dust and sun: Cover your hair with a hat or scarf when you step out.
9. Tie your hair in a loose bun when you sleep:
This will avoid hair from falling all over your face and disturb your beauty sleep. It also avoids tangling.
10. Use a satin pillow case instead of cotton one:
When you sleep, the friction between the cotton pillow and your hair, makes hair brittle in long run. Instead, sleep on a satin pillow case which keeps your hair smooth.
11. Keep your comb, hair styling tools clean.
12. Good beauty sleep:
Body repairs itself while we sleep. Hence a good 7-8 hours sleep is a must for beautiful you.
Tips useful on bad hair day:
There are certain days when your hair becomes oily/ too dry and unmanageable. Below are some tips which will be of use.
1. If your hair is too oily and you do not have time to wash it, do not worry. Spritz some baby powder to your hair. Brush the hair. Powder absorbs the oil and makes the hair less oily and easy to manage.
Thumbs up for messy hair buns.
Use dry shampoo. Dry shampoo is a shampoo in powder form. It removes greasiness and best part is , it doesn’t need water…!! hence the name dry. But, again less is more. Do not use this on daily basis.
