Biotique Revitalising Tan Removal Papaya Scrub Review and Swatch

What is the mantra for healthy skin??? Yes I agree clean diet, exercise.. But when it comes to ‘Mantra’, it is for me, CTM..!! Wondering what CTM stands for? This post will help you with that.!

Apart from CTM, scrubbing away dead skin cells is something I always always stress upon. Scrubbing makes skin look super fresh, feel soft and look healthy. Being a skincare enthusiast, I love trying out different skincare products. I have tried facial scrubs from different brands. From drugstore brand to high end brand. But when I am asked to recommend one, I always have this particular one on my mind.

The product I am talking about is this Papaya scrub from the brand Biotique.! Oh by the way, if you like using Papaya in your DIY face pack recipes, I have some recipes. Do try them.!

This is an affordable scrub which works efficiently. But question is – is this for all skin types??? You will get the answer by the end of this review. Shall we get to know more about this facial scrub then??

Brand: Biotique

Product: Revitalising tan-removal scrub

Variant: Bio Papaya

Price: INR 199

Shelf-life: 3 Years. Once opened, 12 months.

What Does Company Claims:

Ingredients:

Packing:

Outer carton is a combination of orange and green, resembling that of a Papaya. It has all the details of the product. Which includes, ingredients list, how to use, price, shelf-life etc etc.

The product container is made of sturdy plastic. A white jar container with dark green screw lid. It also has a thin plastic lid inside for better protection. I liked the fact that the plastic container also has the details mentioned on it. Like, ingredients, how to use and most importantly manufacturing date and shelf life. Because we hardly save the outer carton. In case we are unsure about the expiry date, such containers with details mentioned, comes really handy.

Fragrance:

Scrub smells like clay. Not at all strong or not at all bothering one.

Texture:

It is quite thick. Granules are quite big enough to be seen through n@ked eyes. This makes it fall under ‘not so mild scrub’.!

How to Use:

My Experience:

To begin with, I have dry skin. I usually prefer to use scrub twice a week.

This scrub is quite thick in consistency and you need to mix a little bit of water to it in order to work it out. At least that is what I prefer. Plus, as I always say – NEVER scrub on dry skin. You need to dampen your skin in order to use a scrub.!

So I use this scrub + water on cleansed damp skin. Granules are big enough to be seen and felt easily. Even after diluting it, I had to be very gentle with the process of scrubbing because I was skeptical about the granules. With minimal pressure I like to massage my face with this scrub. After a minute or two of scrubbing, I wash my face with normal water. I have to wash throughly as the scrub is thick and it can stick to face.

What makes me like this scrub are the end results. This makes skin super soft and pores feel super clean. I have also noticed this gives that instant glow to face.

Things I Liked:

  1. Does it’s job pretty well. Leaves skin super soft and clean.
  2. Little goes long way. A single tub can last for a year.!
  3. Pocket friendly.
  4. Ingredient list looks safe.
  5. Travel friendly packing.
  6. Fragrance is fresh and doesn’t bother.
  7. Cruelty free.
  8. Preservative free.
  9. Recyclable packing.

Things I did not like:

  1. Tub packing is not hygienic as we need to dip fingers to take out the product.
  2. This is not a mild scrub. If one uses it rigorously, it might scratch your skin.

Mygirlypedia Note:

As granules are little bigger, this isn’t a mild scrub so need to be bit cautious while scrubbing. Do try my trick of mixing it with water.

Talking about skin types, it works perfectly fine with dry and oily skin. If you have sensitive skin, I wouldn’t recommend this scrub as it will be harsh for your skin.

Review and Swatches of Turmeric Healing Mask By Deyga

Pure and natural products are preferred the most when it comes to skincare. I have come across bunch of such brands who have some good natural products to offer. One of such brands is Deyga.

Mygirlypedia.com

I have tried bunch of their products which includes face and body care products. Recent one is being this healing mask. Turmeric being its key ingredient, it is named after it. As we all know, turmeric is widely known for its healing and brightening properties in Ayurveda. Question is, whether this product stands true to its name or not.!

Now that I have tried this mask multiple times, I will be reviewing it in detail for you.

Brand : Deyga

Mygirlypedia.com

Name of the product : Turmeric healing mask.

Price : INR 600 for 100 ml

Shelf Life : 6 Months

Ingredients :

Mygirlypedia.com

Here are the ingredient which sound like chemicals but are not. I have done a quick surfing to know more about them.

Vetiver essential oil is hailed for its use in skin cell regeneration and boosting the growth of new cells. It facilitates wound healing, effectively reduces scars, blemishes, and marks due to acne, burns or pox by removing dead skin cells from the body and hence bestows a radiant skin.

Guar gum, also called guaran, is a galactomannan polysaccharide extracted from guar beans that has thickening and stabilizing properties useful in food, feed, and industrial applications. Most personal care and beauty-related products contain guar gum, as it acts as a thickener, emulsifier and stabilizer in formulations for ointments and skin lotions.

Geogard ECT is made of Benzyl Alcohol, Salicylic Acid, Glycerine, and Sorbic Acid; these are all components that all occur in nature. A preservation system that meets the ECOCERT standards. It is a paraben-free, formaldehyde-free, and isothiazolone-free based system. Offers broad spectrum protection activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, yeast and molds.

How to Use:

Mygirlypedia.com

Packing:

This comes in a sturdy transparent plastic jar. Colour of the sticker on the jar resembles colour of turmeric. Light print of turmeric on the design makes the whole packing looks soothing.

Black screw lid is tight enough to be carried around without any worries about spillage. Plus, for double protection, it also has a white plastic lid inside.

All the required details are mentioned on the sticker.

Mygirlypedia.com

Fragrance :

One thing that definietly catches your attention when you open the screw lid is the fragrance. It is this soothing aroma of turmeric.! If you like fresh fragrance of turmeric, you are going to love this. It falls on stronger note, if you are someone who doesn’t like the smell of turmeric, you might find it overpowering.!

Texture:

It has gel like consistency. It’s light weight when applied.

Mygirlypedia.com

My Experience:

I get pimples during those days of the month due to hormonal changes. Those pimples are quite painful.!It hurts if I touch them. First and foremost expectation I had from this mask is to help me with the reduction of those painful pimples.

As mentioned on the package, I applied a layer of this mask on my cleansed face. I usually keep the mask on for not more than 10 minutes. I don’t really let the mask dry completely. When it is semi dry, I wash it off. So I was expecting to do the same even though it has been mentioned to keep it on for 30 minutes..! But to my surprise this mask takes a lot of time to dry. Hence 30 minutes mentioned on the package is justifiable.

Fragrance remains on for quite long time. I did not feel any discomfort because of the fragrance. I felt as if I have applied good Ayurvedic luxury face mask.!

After approximately half an hour, mask was semi dry. I washed it off with warm water.

Mygirlypedia.com

I have dry skin and some natural masks even though they address other skin concerns, they do leave my skin feeling dry. This mask did not do that. Even though my skin did not feel super plump, it did not scream for moisture either.

Talking about pimples. My pimples were reduced and so was the pain. Plus, one more thing I noticed is, it does lightens the pimple marks gradually, with frequent use.

Only thing I did not really like is the yellow tint it leaves behind. That’s because of turmeric content. Even if you wash it thoroughly, tint is going to last for sometime.!

Pros:

  1. Heals pimples.
  2. Lightens pimple marks.
  3. Little goes long way hence the jar is going to last long.
  4. Feels light on skin when applied.
  5. Sturdy packing.
  6. Ingredient list looks safe.
  7. Cruelty free.
  8. No added colour.
  9. Recyclable packing.
  10. Natural preservatives are used instead of any harmful chemical preservatives.
Mygirlypedia.com

Cons:

  1. It leaves yellow tint.
  2. Some might find the fragrance overpowering.

Mygirlypedia Rating : 4.5/5

Happy Shopping..!! 🙂

Note:

Even though this is a product with natural ingredients, I would still recommend patch test before trying it on face. Because different skin types behave differently to natural ingredients.!

Review of Hibiscus Gel By Puremie

Since the lockdown, most of us are spending time and money on skin care than any makeup product. For taking care of skin, homemade DIY stuffs are something that is keeping us occupied and skincare game interesting.!

Last year while browsing through Instagram, I came across this brand called Puremie. This brand offers clean and raw DIY stuffs that can be used in our skin care or hair care DIYs.

I have bought some of their gels and masking materials. Today reviewing one of those products.

They have 5 different gels that are their best sellers. Bought Aloe Vera Gel and Hibiscus gel out of those 5. Here is the detailed review of Hibiscus gel.

Mygirlypedia.com

Price : 350 INR for 100 gms

Shelf Life : 6 Months

Ingredients:

Mygirlypedia.com

Whole ingredient list is displayed. There are couple of chemicals in it but I have found out that these are used in skin care products and they are safe to be used.

Packing:

It comes in a glass jar packing. Transparent packing makes it easier to keep an eye on the product inside the jar.

All the details are printed on the sticker.

Screw lid is convenient to use.

Mygirlypedia.com

Color:

It looks like fire. Isn’t it?

Mygirlypedia.com

Fragrance:

Fresh fragrance with aqua based note. Not at all strong.

Consistency:

Non sticky, non greasy formula.

My experience:

I used it directly on my hair and face. Application is easy. It is not at all messy. Once applied, doesn’t feel heavy. Washing it off was also easy. I didn’t have to wash it multiple times to clean it fully. One wash was enough. That’s something cool especially if you have long hair. Post using it, it made my hair super soft and silky. Best thing is it reduces scalp’s oiliness.

For skin, it moisturised my skin. Did not cause any breakouts.

Mygirlypedia.com

Pros:

  1. Eco friendly packing.
  2. Non greasy formula.
  3. Doesn’t feel heavy.
  4. Ingredient list is safe.
  5. Makes hair soft and silky.
  6. Reduces scalp oiliness.
  7. Moisturises skin.

Cons:

  1. Jar packing is not hygienic. Since it is a DIY product, workaround would be to transfer the gel in the required quantity to other container/ plate to use.!

Mygirlypedia Rating: 4.9/5

Final Verdict:

This jar is my third purchase. With the price, quantity and most importantly, the results are enough to buy this jar again and again.

Even though it is a chemical free product, I would suggest you to try out patch test first before using it on entire face. Because some are allergic to natural ingredients.

What is The Difference Between Body Scrub and Body Polish? Review of My Most Used Body Polish

Who doesn’t like healthy, soft and plump skin? To achieve that, regularly scrubbing away dead cells would be the first step.

How much is too much? While once or twice a week is what suggested, you can do it as per your skin needs. But make sure you don’t use scrubs daily. Because, no matter how dry our skin might be, it definitely doesn’t need daily scrubbing!

Talking about body scrub let’s get to know it’s sister product- Body Polish.

So what is the difference between body scrub and body polish?
Well, they look same & technically do same task – scrubbing/ removing dead skin cells to leave your skin super soft. But there in one added benefit with body scrub.

Body scrubs exfoliate skin plus they cleanse the skin. Whereas body polish exfoliates your skin but doesn’t have cleansing property!

I have been using this body polish from the brand Dove lately (since last year to be precise.) lets’ know this
product better. Shall we?

Brand: Dove

Variant: Crushed macadamia price milk

Price: INR 699 298g

Shelf life: 20 months

Ingredients:

Packing: It comes in a white sturdy plastic packing. It is a screw lid, quite tight enough. So no worries of any spillage or breakage.

Details about the product, usage, everything is mentioned on it.

I am not a fan of tub packing for hygiene concern. But this is used while in bath so our hands are usually cleansed!! Plus this is a bit runny so can be poured out from the tub.

Fragrance: It smells like a dessert made of vanilla essence and yummy white chocolate. Trust me, every time when I open the lid, I feel like getting a spoon & start eating it. #sweettooth.

Texture: It’s neither thick nor too light. It is like a cream, a bit runny. Scrubbing /polishing granules are not
big or harsh. They are quite mild.

Experience: Even though it is mentioned on it to be used 3- 4 times a week, I use it once or max
twice a week.

My skin is quite dry. Usually skin will be left dry after exfoliation but this one is one exception. It did made my skin soft, so I can say exfoliation is done well by it. Plus, it adds a kind of moisture because of which I don’t feel the need of using a moisturises right after the bath. So my dry skin is happy.!

Pros:
1. Scrubs away dead skin cells well.
2. Smells amazing.
3. Does not dry your skin.
4.. Little goes long way.
5. Sturdy packing.

Cons:
I did not find any!!

Mygirlypedia Note:

For the job it does, for the quantity required, price is totally justifiable. Also, the product is usually on a discounted price on online store. Plus, if you have a sweet tooth, you should give this a try! So, yep, I would love to recommend this pocket friendly body care product.

Mygirlypedia Rating: 5/5.

Colour: Pretty Coral coloured balm looks so pretty.

Fragrance: It has strong smell of Gulkhand.

Texture: Light weight texture. Doesn’t feel heavy on lips.

My Experience: To begin with, I have very dry lips. That need lot of hydration. Since I loved some products from this brand in the past, I had lot of expectations from this one.

Let me start with the fragrance first. This aroma of Gulkhand stays for a while post application.Plus, I am not a fan of Gulkhand smell. So the smell is very bothering.

It is light weight on lips. Doesn’t add any tint.

Talking about prime purpose of a lip balm, unfortunately it did not help my dry lips. Did not add the amount of hydration my lips need. I tried it in both day time & night time but no much use for me!

Pros:
1. Travel friendly packing.
2. Classy packing makes it a good collectible.
3. Light weight formula glides easily.
4. Doesn’t add tint. Can be worn before applying lipstick.

Cons:
1. Fragrance in bothering if you are not a fan of Gulkhand.
2. Doesn’t help extreme dry lips.
3. For the quantity & the job it did, I found it pricey.
4. Only key ingredients list is mentioned not the entire list.

Mygirlypedia rating: 1/5.

1 for the packing which I will refill with my favourite lip balm.

Mygirlypedia Note:
1. If you are someone who love collecting lip care products, lip balm with a mirror would make a great collectible.
2. If you have normal lips which doesn’t require extra hydration plus if you have the budget you can go for it. If you have dry lips please skip it.
3. Also think about the Gulkhand fragrance before spending your precious money on this one!

Hope this review helps!

Forest Essentials Tejasvi Brightening Emulsion Review and Swatches

Hello Beautiful,

Skin covers your entire body. If you invest in your skin, it is going to represent you..!

Being a skin care enthusiast, I love trying out new skin care products. Products that say Ayurvedic or natural, I am sold for it.! One of such brands that is on my favourite list is Forest Essentials – Luxurious Ayurveda..! (See, Ayurveda..!)

While I have tried good number of skin care products from their range, many have worked out and some haven’t. Today I am reviewing one of those products from the brand. Keep reading to know whether it worked for me or not.!

Brand : Forest Essentials.

Price : 2175 INR for 30 g or 1.05 oz.

Shelf Life : 23 Months.

Is This Cruelty Free? Yes

Is This Recyclable? Yes

Ingredients / What Does Company Claims? / How to Use :

Please note that the ingredients list is not mentioned here. Mentioned here is the composition/ major ingredients.!

Packing : Brand’s tag line itself says ‘ Luxurious Ayurveda’, packing stands quite true to it.

The outer carton is made of hard cardboard. The glossy finished, gold design gives that luxurious look. As you can see the brand logo is printed on the carton along with couple of traditional dancing ladies. The flower print adds the charm to this design. All the details about the product, usage are printed on the bottom side of this same carton.

Product comes in dark and sturdy glass bottle. I must say, no matter how fancier the plastic packing may be, but a glass packing is the classier one.! Gold lid with brown glass combo looks classy. Glass is in deed sturdy. As a clumsy person, I have tested it by dropping it couple of times.!

Colour : Somewhere between maroon and brown.

Fragrance : It has a strong fragrance of ghee and something sort of sweet note. Even though the fragrance is noticeable, it fades after application. As the fragrance is not over empowering, it should be ok for sensitive nose I believe.

Consistency : Balm like consistency.

Swatches :

My Experience :

I have dry skin that needs extra hydration. I thought of buying this particular product for its description and the base ingredient of it – Ghee. Ghee is very useful when it comes to treating dry skin. I used the product just like the way it is mentioned on the packing.

As soon as you open the jar, first thing you notice is its fragrance. I kinda liked the fragrance. It did not bother me at all. Consistency is perfect for facial massage. It’s a balm consistency. Neither runny nor sticky.

Thing I loved the most is that it did what it claimed. It added the moisture. My skin was visibly hydrated and plump.

Even though the product name says its emulsion, it is a balm. It is quite thick and heavy. That’s why even though I have dry skin, I prefer using it twice a week, not more than that. If you have oily or sensitive skin, I would suggest you to skip this.

Pros :

  1. Does what it claims. Adds good amount of hydration. Leaves skin soft and plump.
  2. Balm consistency is perfect for good facial massage.
  3. Sturdy packing.
  4. Little goes long way. Single jar is going to last for months.
  5. Did not break my skin.
  6. It is cruelty free. No animal was harmed in the process of making this product.
  7. Product is recyclable.

Cons :

  1. Tub packing is not hygienic as we have to make sure our fingers are super clean before taking out the product. Else, we are just transferring bacteria into the jar.!
  2. Some might find it pricy. (Quantity required is less for each use and as it did what it claimed, I am not complaining about the price.)
  3. Whole ingredients list is not mentioned.

Mygirlypedia Rating : 4.5/5

Mygirlypedia Note: If you have dry skin and need of good moisturising product, plus if you have budget, you must give this a try. If you have oily or sensitive skin, this balm might be heavier on your skin. Which in turn might cause breakouts. I would suggest you to give a patch test or completely skip this product.

You can watch live swatches in the video below 😛

Product comes in the glass pot with black plastic lid. Glass looks sturdy but it’s not. I dropped it accidentally and it broke..!! I am glad it did not break in the middle and spill the product. Phew.

Please note that the product does not comes with applicator brush. I know many eyeliners which comes with ne, but this one doesn’t.

Consistency :
Gel consistency. Glides smoothly.
But one thing I did not like is the fact that the gel eyeliners usually gets hard after certain period of time (may be an year or so). This eyeliner too gets hard, making it little difficult to apply.

Pigmentation is quite nice. Single stroke gives good pigment.

Definitely yes. It’s hard to clean without makeup remover.

Pros:

  • Nice pigmentation.
  • Lasts really long on oily eyelids as well.
  • Smudge proof.
  • Water proof.
  • Little goes long way so the pot is going to lasts long.
  • Glides smoothly.
  • Did not irritate my eyes.

191455E5-3981-43B7-BAA9-AEB653DB42D7

Cons:

  • Does not comes with applicator brush. You ill have to spend little extra on a brush.
  • Glass packing needs extra care as it might break if it falls.
  • Gel turns hard after certain months.
  • Most of the shades are either out of stock/ discontinued/ not available in India. dah..!!!

Repurchase/ Recommendation:
Once I finish the pots completely, yes I am going to buy. I have finally found eye liners for my oily eyelids. Yeahhh..!!!

If you too have oily eyelids and looking for long lasting eyeliner – this is the one. As little goes long way, the pot lasts longer and it’s definitely worth the price.

Mygirlypedia Rating : 4.75 /5 (Deducting 0.25 with heavy heart for no brush and not so sturdy glass packing. )

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Lip Plumper Review

Hello,

Thanks to Kardashians and Jenners, plump lips is one of the crazy things in the world of glam.

While there are a lot of products claiming that they give you plump lips, I have come across multiple medium to good reviews of this one lip plumping product called – lip injection.

Na, I am not saying injections/ needles. It’s the product’s name.

Have you heard about the brand ‘Too faced’? They have this lip product called ‘Lip Injection Extreme Lip Plumper’. The brand wasn’t available in India until last week. Nykaa has now launched this brand and the products are now available online and at Nykaa stores.

Needless to say, I was quite curious to try this out. I said curious but I knew it will not be any magical portion to give any drastic results. So, I bought a smaller sized product this week. Let me tell you how it worked or not worked for me.

Fragrance:
It has very fresh fruity smell. Reminds of boomer chewing gums.

Color:
It is transparent with glossy finish.

My Experience:
It says apply it on perimeter of your lips. Wait for 5 to 10 minutes for it to work.
Instead of going with the instructions, I applied it all over my lips.

I had seen bunch of videos/ reviews. Where the YouTubers used to say that after few seconds of applying it starts working. It feels like multiple needles on lips, it stings. Some even said it feels like your lips are burning.

In my case, hell no..! I did feel little tingling within few seconds of application. But that’s it. Nothing more than that. Tingling lasted for a minute max. I was expecting little more (thanks to the tons of reviews I had watched before) but it did not do anything much..!

Here are the before and after pictures of my lips. After picture was taken after 7 minutes of application. I can see very minute change, nothing ‘extreme’ in terms of plumping.

Let’s talk about hydration. I must say, it did add good hydration to my lips. I have dry lips. Regular application of lip balm, every hour at least, is a must. But this did add enough hydration. I did not feel any dryness for 3 to 4 hours. It’s a satisfying amount of time considering the fact that I have dry lips and I sit in air conditned environment.

Things I Liked:

  • Travel friendly packing.
  • Transparent bottle makes it easier to keep track of the quantity left inside.
  • Smells nice.
  • Adds hydration to your lips.
  • You can use it above lipstick to add shine and hydration.
  • Applicator makes the application easy.
  • Non sticky consistency slides easily.

Thing I Did not Like:

  • Main purpose of the product is not really served. Plumping wasn’t much in my case at least.
  • Pricey.

Repurchase:
Umm I don’t think I will repurchase. In fact I am glad that I went for smaller version instead of the bigger one. I loved the hydration part. But I have bunch of good lip balms which add hydration, with price way less than this one. Plus, plumping did not really worked for me. So I don’t think I will buy again.
