Detox water..!

You might have read about this magical water in Mygirlypedia before. If not give it a read here, to know why I call this magical.

We can mix different ingredients and sip this drink to get most of it. Here is the post where I will be sharing the list of ingredients I use to make detox water and benefits of each of them.

What You Need?

  • Fenugreek Seeds
  • Mint Leaves
  • Cucumber
  • Lemon
  • Glass Bottle
  • Water (Obvio) 😋

 

Fenugreek Seeds:

5 Fenugreek seeds.

Fenugreek/ Methi seeds have lot of health benefits. To name some:

  • Helps in weight loss
  • Improves digestion
  • Reduces cholesterol level
  • Protects heart health
  • Helps in reducing the body heat
  • Boosts immune system
  • Prevents cancer
  • Helps in dissolving kidney stones
  • Relief from stomach disorder
  • Controls Blood Sugar level

 

Mint Leaves:

5 to 6 should be enough.

Lemon:

Water:

Fresh water. A Liter should be more than sufficient.

Glass Bottle:

Why glass bottle? Glass because it is not only good for our planet but also for us. Glass bottles repel food odours and residual flavours. They also significantly extend the flavour and quality of food stored in them. Plus, unlike plastic these glass bottles won’t release any chemicals.

How to prepare?

It’s pretty simple. Chop and put first four ingredients into the glass bottle. Add water. Place the bottle inside fridge overnight.

Overnight – because time is required for the water to get the flavours/ for the ingredients to work.

Fridge – because drinking cold water helps in improving metabolism and helps in weight loss. Body has to work harder for the cold water to reach the normal body temperature. Thus more calories are burnt.

Consume it on an empty stomach for better results.

I can say the recipe I have is mostly for the weight loss. What’s more better than losing weight by consuming something..!!! #LazyGirlsDream

6 Different Uses of Lip Balm; No, Applying on Chapped Lips is Not One Of Them..!!

Irrespective of the amount of love you have for makeup, lip balm is something almost every girl is familiar with. Today I am going to tell and show you how to use the lip balm other than to heal your chapped lips.

  • Eyebrow gel:

Eyebrow gel is a transparent gel applied on to eyebrows to keep the eyebrow in place for a long time. This gives the well groomed and neat look to your eyebrow. You can replace the eyebrow gel with a non tinted lip balm. Apply the lip balm on eyebrows and it will make sure to keep the eyebrow hair in place all day long.

  • Transparent Mascara

Mascara is used to define the eyelash and give fuller eyelash look. Transparent mascara is going to do the same trick. Instead of buying a new mascara, you can use a lip balm with no tint do the same trick.

  • Cuticle Cream

Our cuticle need moisture too. Added moisture prevents cuticle from becoming dry and brittle. Apply a layer of lip balm on cuticles before going to bed. Let it add same moisture which a cuticle cream would add.

  • Eye Cream

Skin under the eye area is very thin and needs more hydration. By adding more hydration and moisture we can prevent dark circles, slow down the signs of aging too. If you do not have eye cream handy, you can apply lip balm under your eye to add the moisture. I prefer non tinted lip balm for the obvious reason. I mean I don’t want to scare anyone by applying a tinted lip balm under my eyes, do you??? 😀

  • Eye shadow

Yet time it so happens that you are out and you don’t have much makeup handy. But you got to glam up for a last minute plan, all you need is a tinted lip balm.

Swipe couple of layer on your eyelids and dab. There you go, a pretty eye shadow.

  • Blush

Just like you applied the tinted lip balm on your eyelids, apply it as blush to get that flushed glow.

  • Highlighter

If you want to try a very pocket friendly highlighter, try using a lip balm with no tint. This will add that glow and highlight the facial area on which you have applied the lip balm.

Double Cleansing for Healthy Skin

Keeping skin clean is the key factor for a clear and health skin. To keep the skin in good
condition the step ‘C’ in the CTM technique plays an important role.

Cleansing, as you guys know, is the way to clean your skin. Making sure it is free from all the makeup/ impurities.

If you are a beauty junkie, you must already know this skin care technique called – Double cleansing. If your answer is no, I will tell you what it is all about.

As the name suggests, the cleansing of skin is done twice. But with different kind of products in each step.

How is This Done?

First step involves removing the layer of makeup or dirt with the help of non-foaming or micellar water.

Second step involves washing your face with foaming cleanser. It can be as simple as a regular face wash you use. This step makes sure the residue left after the first step is washed away and leaves the pores super clean.

My Recommendations:
For non-foaming, I can recommend some cleanser which are oil based or cream based. I have tried this cleansing lotion from the brand The Face Shop. But I generally like using this micellar water. This is light weight and very easy to use. Removes makeup quite easily thus making the first step of double cleansing easy.

Who Should Double Cleanse Their Skin???

Ideally, everyone of us. Especially if you wear makeup or if you living in huge cities where pollution level is quite high.

Makeup we wear can clog pores, if left overnight. Which in turn cause breakouts. Needless to say, the pollution harms our skin way more than we know. It also increases the aging process. Thus making it necessary to cleanse skin as much as possible at the end of the day.

As I mentioned earlier, keeping facial pores as clean as possible helps in maintaining good skin. Also, if we do double cleansing before the T and M steps of skin care routine, makes sure that the product we are using for moisturization gets absorbed by skin easily. Thus making the most of the product.

This is what I had for double cleansing technique. I know at the end of the day, when you are dead tired, it is super hard to cleanse your face once. I am asking twice the struggle you guys face. But keeping skin clean and healthy will get you compliments for sure. 🙂

Who doesn’t like that soft and glowing skin??? This pack claims to brighten up your skin instantly. Sounds interesting???

Yes definitely. I can bear the strong fragrance for the good it does to my skin…!! In fact I have already re purchased this pack. This is my 2nd tube. #WideSmile

Khadi Natural Fruit Herbal Face Mask Review

Remember my quick haul with my friend where I had picked up a dud product…??? The product which I’m gonna review today is also been shopped that day…

I have a good collection of face packs. But when see something herbal written on it or something with good packing, I always endup picking it up. So this herbal fruit  face mask is from the Indian brand, Khadi Natural.

I had a very bad breakout when I had used their face washes. It was horrifying for me. Those pimples. Phew…

Even though I have bad experience with Khadi products,  I chose to give this mask a try. Read on to know about product and  my experience in detail

As you can see in the pictures, it comes in steel box. Which can be used further once you finish the mask.

Inside themail box, the mask or the powder is packed in thin plastic sheet. I have removed the cover so it’s not seen in picture.

The quantity as you can see is almost half of that of the container.

PS: I have used this mask couple of times now.

The lid is very tight thus it makes perfect travel friendly package. But take care of your nails while opening

Fragrance:

It has a very mild fruity fragrance. Which doesn’t irritates. It’s kind of soothing fragrance.

Texture:

It’s color and texture is just like fuller earth.

My experience:

As written on the pack, I mixed the powder with rose water. Made a thick paste and applied it on my face. It does give a little cooling effect. Dries off quickly.

I felt it’s fuller earth just with added fragrance.  Because the after effect was just that of multani mitti. My skin was left clean and oiliness was totally gone. It didnt lighten the spots on my face though.

I liked the mask because :

  • Ingredients seem safe and chemical free
  • It did left my skin clean and absorbed oiliness.
  • Pocket friendly
  • As it claims, it gave glow, tightened pores and improved skin tone with just 2 uses.

 

What I didn’t like:

  • It didn’t lighten dark spots.
  • It didn’t hydrate skin.

 

Will I repurchase??

Honestly,  I don’t really like smell of fuller  earth. Since it does the same work as that of fuller earth, I will buy this.

Will I recommend??

If you have stock of fuller earth, you can miss this. This is not a must try product. If you are bored with fuller earth just like me, go for this fruit mask.

Home Remedies for Cracked Heels

Hey,

One of the most ignored parts of our body is feet. Agreed??? Do observe heals of those well dressed ladies. At least 6 out 10 of them have cracked heels. It looks so odd.

If you don’t want to be one of those, read on.

Reasons for cracked heels:

  • Aging
  • Lack of moisture
  • Improper diet
  • Dehydration
  • Improper foot hygiene

If this is not treated, it might lead to blood loss and worsen foot condition.

Let’s start with cleaning the feet:

  • Dip feet in warm water. You can mix a bit of bath salt or vinegar to the water. This makes skin soft. Thus helps scrubbing easy.
  • You can also add hydrogen peroxide to the water. It removes dirt.

  • Scrub. All you need is a good foot brush with a scrubber. I use the one from the body shop. You can use pumice stone too, for scrubbing away those dead skin from feet.
  • Once you are done scrubbing, wash your feet with warm water and wipe it with clean towel.

Let’s see different foot creams to heal the cracks.

  • This one is tried and tested by my mom. Take half bucket of warm water, mix honey to it. Dip your feet inside this water and relax for next 10-15 minutes. After that, apply a good foot cream, post rubbing off your feet. Honey helps in healing the cracks.
  • We South Indians make most of coconut oil. For foot care, we prepare a cream out of bea’s wax and coconut oil. It’s simple. Melt the wax and mix oil to it. You can keep this mixture inside refrigerator. Apply the cream on cleaned feet, before hitting bed everyday.

  • You can apply coconut oil (or any moisturizing oil) and turmeric mixture on cracked heels. Turmeric has antiseptic properties and coconut oil is a healer.
  • Ghee- Apply ghee to say bye bye to cracked heels. Ghee helps in adding moisture.

P.S. You can wear socks after applying creams. This will seal the moisture. And protects from ruining the bed.

  • Apply lemon juice to heels. This helps in cleaning and helps in recovery. But, applying this on cracked heels do results in tingling or burning sensation.

  • Glycerin. One of the best moisturizer. Apply glycerin on heels. Glycerin is bit sticky. Hence wear socks.
  • Foot cream. If you want the healing much quicker, go for some good foot creams available in the market. Will review some of the foot creams o have used till date.
  • Foot pack: just like face pack, apply a good foot mask or pack to restore moisture. To start with, you can apply Avocado mask. Smash a Avocado and apply it on feet and heels. Wash it after 10-15 minutes.

  • Aloe Vera. How can we not talk about Aloe Vera when it comes to moisture. Apply Aloe Vera on cracked heels. It gives you cooling effect and adds the much needed moisture.

Few of my friends were asking me to write a post about open facial pores. So, finally here is the post about and remedies for open pores.

What are open pores???

Skin is made of pores. They help in skin to breath. For most of the ladies,as they age, skin loses its elasticity thus making the pores on face bit huge and visible to n*ked eyes.

When excessive oil and dust get accumulated in these pores, they result in blackheads or pimples. Thus making skin worse.

What causes open pores???

There are multiple reasons, mainly

  • Sun exposure
  • Aging
  • Bad skincare routine
  • Genetic
  • Stress
  • Chemical reaction

How to cure them???

Shrinking the pores is something we need to do to stop this skin problem. Keeping pores clean will make them less visible and avoid further issues.

Let’s check what we can do to say bye bye to nasty pores.

  • Ice


Remember, I had mentioned ice as primer in few of my posts?? Yes, ice gives skin tightening effect and helps in closing pores. You just have to press ice on face or wash face with ice cold water.

  • Egg Whites


When it comes to skin tightening, we can’t miss egg whites. Yes, applying egg whites helps in skin tightening and closing opened pores too.

  • Scrub


Scrubbing is must to maintain good healthy skin. It not only removes dead skin, but also removes impurities from pores.

  • Apple Cider Vinegar

Use diluted apple Cider vinegar to clean your face. This solution has antibacterial qualities. Thus cleaning, closing pores and maintaining PH balance of skin.

  • Baking Soda


This is an all rounder. This exfoliates, it’s anti bacterial and anti inflammatory properties clean the pores and helps in reducing them. Apply a thin layer of baking soda and water paste on face. Leave it for few minutes before washing it away, to get desired results.

  • Lemon


Apply lemon juice on face. If you have dry skin, it does give you tingling effects. Lemon juice is good bleach, cleanses pores and fades pimple scars.

  • Aloe Vera


Applying fresh aloe Vera gel over face, helps in shrinking pores. Moisturizing property of it, helps skin.

  • Fuller Earth


Fuller earth or multani mitti. This along with adding glow, drying pimples, also absorbs all oil and leaves skin pores clean.

Watch what you eat:
For Japanese, beauty is not a project, its a life style. They believe in the inner glow you get by eating right. Japanese women do not eat spicy/sugary/salty/ fatty food. (Which are our weakness) Their diet includes fish, green vegetables and tons of fresh fruits. The omega 3 fatty acids present in these healthy food, helps in reducing the body’s production of the inflammatory chemicals. These chemicals are proven to be involved in the ageing process.!!!

Magical Green tea:
Japanese drink a lot of green tea. Green tea is high in antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. This keeps the body healthy and clean from inside.

Rice is the major Japanese food. Rice helps in skin nourishment, prevents wrinkles and protects skin from UV rays.

Sun rays cause a lot of harm to skin. It boost the aging process. It tans. Japanese as much as possible, avoid stepping out in hot sun to protect their skin.

If you can’t eat it, you can’t apply it:
They believe in one rule, if you can not eat it, you can not apply it. If you apply harsh chemicals, they do more harm than good. Japanese say that whatever you apply, end up in blood vessels through skin’s pores. Hence be cautious about what you apply to your skin.

Lotion mask:
Instead of rubbing lotion/cream on your skin, Japanese believe in lotion mask. Where, you need to damp a cotton wool with lotion and place it on face like a mask. Keeping it on face for a good amount of 10-15 minutes will make you achieve most of it and I always prefer a easy breezy, relaxing  mask over rubbing the lotion. wink

  Massage away your wrinkles:
Japanese never recommend Botox/ any surgical method to stay young. I love the fact that they always always follow most natural method to glow. They spend some time daily to massage their face. They massage in the direction opposite to wrinkles thus they fight against sign of aging ‘wrinkles’.

Cleanse, cleanse and cleanse again:

Rubbing off the old and dry skin does a lot of good to skin. Japanese believe in exfoliating body using natural ingredients like coffee to achieve super soft skin.

Vitamin C is helpful to keep the youthfulness. magical Japanese never forget their vitamin C intake. Adding orange to your diet is a must to fight against the sign of aging.

The plastic combs which we use doesn’t make any extra good to hair. sad Japanese use handmade wooden combs. These help in distributing oil and with less fiction.

Bird Droppings:
This is the famous facial introduced by Japan. The Bird Droppings claimed to have certain enzymes which are useful for skin’s nourishment.  (ewww )

Fish pedicure:
I love this. When you dip your legs in a tank full of tiny cute fishes. When they clean your feet by eating the dirt(I know sounds gross) The tingling feeling is cute and enjoyable. Japanese always swear by this for their foot care.

So, these are some of the tips from ‘The land of Rising Sun’. I would love to try some of these tips for sure. Eating healthy being the toughest one for me, I will have to try harder for it. hehe
