Useful Sheet Mask Tips To Make The Most Of It

It doesn’t really matter whether you are a beauty and skin care freak or not; I am sure if you live in the world of Instagram, you have seen these sheet masks while scrolling down the infinite Instagram feed. Haven’t you???

IMG_20190205_220742.jpg

You might know the basic about these sheet masks, let me share some of the tips and tricks to follow while using one. I am sure you will find it useful for your next pampering session with the sheet masks.

What is a sheet mask?

It’s a serum infused paper mask.

Why sheet mask???

Primary purpose of using a sheet mask is to add hydration to your skin.

Sheet mask or a moisturiser???

A good moisturiser adds moisture to your skin (which you all know). But sheet mask on the other hand has serum in it. Which in comparison with moisturiser, easily gets absorbed by skin. Thus, adding maximum moisture your skin needs.

Packing of sheet mask

Sheet mask comes in a pouch packing. A sheet mask which is dipped in serum.

Sheet masks before CTM or after CTM?

Ideally, it’s the M in the CTM where you moisturise. So, it’s always preferred to cleanse your face thoroughly and then use sheet mask. I personally skip toner.

Never use the sheet mask while the makeup is on or there is dirt on your face. Because adding moisture on makeup or dirt is going to clog pores which will end up in breakouts.

How to use a sheet mask?

Unfold the sheet mask and place it on your face. It ha these gaps for your eyes, mouth and nostrils.

For how long should I keep the sheet mask on?

Sheet mask should not be used more than 15 minutes. Reason being, 15 minutes is good enough for your skin to absorb the serum. If the sheet mask left more than that, the drying/ dried sheet masks can start absorbing moisture from your skin. So, doing no good to your skin.

IMG_20190128_224227__01.jpg

How to make use of the excess serum in the pouch?

I love layering the serum on my face once I am done using the sheet mask. I also apply serum on my hands and feet sometimes. Ultimately, it’s a serum which adds moisture. Our hands and feet also need moisture, right?

Should I wash my face after using a sheet mask?

A big no. Because if you do so, it’s absolutely a waste of time and of course the money spent on masking. The serum which is absorbed by the skin should be left to see it’s magic. If we wash face, the serum will be gone, skin won’tbe benefited much.

Should I use moisturiser post sheet masking?

Umm it depends on your skin type. If you really feel the necessity for more moisture, you can. But usually serum in the sheet mask is quite heavy and most of us might not feel the need for moisture.

Should I use the sheet mask daily?

Even if you have dry skin, I don’t really suggest you use sheet mask every day. Because sheet mask is a huge source of moisture. Everything should be in moderation. So, I don’t personally prefer to add so much moisture every day to my skin.

How frequently should I use sheet mask?

If you have dry skin, 3 times a week should be good enough. If you have normal to oily skin, twice should be ok.

How long the results going to last?

Honestly, a day or max two.

Special Tip:

If you have oily, choose the sheet mask wisely. As your skin is already oily, you don’t need more moisture. Sheet masks like shea butter, avocado is something which you better avoid.

If your skin is prone to acne, sheet masks which is meant for skin type like green tea should be helpful. They add moisture also takes care of skin.

If you want to make your own sheet mask, check this out. Where I have mentioned how to make one at home.

I hope you find the post useful. Have any more query or tip??? Feel free to comment below.

How Do I Use Nivea Creme In Different Ways

Hello beautiful,

Let’s talk about a very basic skin care product today. Which can be used in different ways. Umm it’s kind of a budget friendly post, where you spend money on a cheaper product and use it for different purposes.

As the heading of the post says, I am talking about this cute little blue tin of Nivea, which I am sure you are familiar with. Pretty more chances that most of you had or have bought this tin somewhere during your local drug store haul. Haven’t you??? If I heard a No, well, you will buy once you finish reading this.

Let me share some of the ways I make use of this little box of magic.

  • Moisturizing:

The prime factor of Nivea is the super moisture it provides. I personally prefer to apply this heavy cream on my elbows and knees. This provides heavy moisture that my elbows and knees need.

  • Under eye cream:

If you have dark under eye area or puffy eyes, all you need is that extra moisture to pamper it. As you might already know, skin covering the under eye area is very delicate. It requires more hydration. Instead of spending more amount on an eye cream, spend only INR 39 to take care of under eye area. 😃 Sounds super budget friendly right… ? 😉

Applying a thin layer of Nivea before hitting the bed at night, should be helpful.

PS : I sometimes use it during the day as well. On under eye area, before applying any makeup.

  • As a lip mask:

Sitting in air conditioned environment??? Huuh… no matter how the weather is outside, our skin and especially lips get dry. I have a quick tried tested tip for dry lips and skin around mouth.

Apply a layer of Nivea on lips and around mouth. Let it absorb for around ten minutes. Take a wet cloth or wet wipe, wipe the cream. This will make sure the lips are hydrated and skin becomes soft.

I don’t prefer using it as a lip balm because it is too heavy and makes lips look visibly white (you know what I mean.)

  • As a foot cream:

Skin covering our feet is thick and needs heavy moisture. Apply Nivea to your feet and cracked heels. Cover it with socks and enjoy your beauty sleep. Wake up with much softer and happier feet.

  • Shaving Cream:

Applying Nivea before using razor will avoid cuts and also leaves skin smooth post hair removal.

  • As a Hand Cream:

I carry this tiny Nivea tin with me while I travel or I’m out. This will easily fit in small clutch or even inside jeans pocket. I have dry hands and that annoys me a bit sometimes. A quick layer of Nivea is what is enough for me to make my hands baby soft.

Special Note:

As much as I love using Nivea in above mentioned ways, I personally don’t prefer using it on my facial skin. It’s heavy and might clog pores which results in breakouts.

Hope you find it useful to replace some of the expensive skin care products with a super budget friendly Nivea tin.

PS : This is NOT a sponsored post and tips written are out of my own ‘tried and tested’ list.

Makeup Products for Beginners, Under Budget

Recently, one of my friends asked me to suggest some cosmetics which are best and within the budget.

With the collection of stuffs I have, the ones I have personally tried and tested, making a list for you.

So, let’s do this…!!!

Lipstick –

If you are very new to the world of lipsticks, it usually happens that you are not sure which colour suits you. It makes total sense that you don’t want to waste money on some expensive lipstick, which looked good on you while you tried in shops but didn’t suit you in day light. So, for beginners, I would suggest this brand of lipsticks – Elle 18.

Why I am suggesting Elle 18:

  • They are totally totally pocket friendly. Price range is between Rs 80 to Rs 150.
  • They have wide range of colours to choose from. From bright shades to n*de ones, they have it.
  • If you want to try out different textured lipsticks like glossy, matte etc, have no worries because Elle 18 got them all.
  • Best thing I love about Elle 18 is that they do not dry the lips.

If you want suggestions with shades, watch this video of mine where I have shown swatches of lipsticks suitable for beginners.

Lip-gloss –

Needless to say, the lipstick lover in me has typed these two sections first.

Lip-gloss, as the name suggests, is more glossier and adds shine to lips. If you are not sure whether you will be able to carry shiny lips, then try these gloss from Lakme.

Why???

  • Price is Rs 200.
  • They are glossy and moisturising. Thus no fear of dried lips
  • The shade rage is very limited to 3. But, you can apply a lipstick and on top, add this gloss. Voila, you created your own shade…!!!

Compact Powder –

If you are an oily skinned beauty, compact is a must to avoid shiny face. If you have combination skin, it is advised to pat some compact on your T- Zone and forehead to skip the greasiness. For more details about compact powder – here you go.

For beginners, I would suggest compact from Lakme.

Why???

  • The compact will costs you Rs 145.
  • Even though they have shades limited to 4, you can mix two different shades to match your skin tone if needed.
  • Travel friendly packing comes with mirror. So, touch ups made easy.
  • Plus you don’t have to spend more money on applicator. It comes with applicator sponge as well.

Foundation –

In case you want to know what and why we use foundation, check this post of mine. Where I have explained all minute details about foundation.

So, to talk about budget friendly foundation, the less priced ones I have tried are from Lakme. They are –

  1. Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation – Available shades are 4
  2. Lakme Face Magic Skin Tints Soufflé – Available shades 3.

Why???

  • They do decent job of covering skin imperfections.

Issue with Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation is there are no shade options for dusky skinned beauties. The issue I faced with Lakme Face Magic Skin Tints Soufflé is that it doesn’t moisturise the skin. You might feel skin is way more dry at the end of the day.

If you like to spend more and get good foundation, go with Fit Me range from the brand Maybelline. You might have seen that foundation in most of my YouTube videos. The price of it is Rs 525 and they have shades for most of the skin tones. I am pretty sure you will find right shade for yourself in that range.

Concealer –

Assuming you are new to makeup,I would suggest you to read this post about concealer before buying one.

Also, I have already reviewed the concealers I have tried, in this post.

They may or may not be within the budget, but they work well.

Kajal –

You know how much I love eye makeup. Kajal is something I am never satisfied with. Often buy and try different Kajal from different brands. Even though my interest lies in different coloured Kajal or eyeliner, I am restricting myself to basic stuffs here.

For basic black Kajal, I would suggest the one from the brand Himalaya Herbals.

Why???

  • Pocket friendly price of Rs 45. I mean, we can’t ask for lesser than this.
  • I don’t say it’s a total smudge proof formula. Because, honestly there is no smudge proof as such. But with the amount of money we are paying for this Kajal, it’s totally worth it.
  • It’s a deep black shade. Looks lovely on eyes.Find the detailed review of Himalaya Herbals Kajal here.

Eyeliner –

Stepping out without eyeliner seems like stepping out n*ked. Check this post of mine to know the feeling of an eye makeup lover.

For black eyeliner, I have always loved gel liner from Maybelline. Maybelline New York Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner – Black.

Why???

  • Price is Rs 525. But this little pot of eyeliner gel goes long way. Little amount is enough to draw lines on both eyelids.
  • Nice pigmentation.
  • Comes with applicator brush.
  • Lasting power is good too.

For beginners who are not well versed with drawing eyeliners, go with gel ones. Because gel eyeliners are not as runny as liquid ones. If you try drawing eyeliners using liquid eyeliner in the beginning, you tend to face these two issues:

  • You going to end up making lot of mess and become a panda eyed human.
  • There is high chance that you lose confidence and stop trying eye makeup.

If you know basics of drawing eyeliners and want a really good budget friendly eyeliner, go with this liquid eyeliner from the brand Lakme – Insta Liner Eye Liner. (Detailed Review Here).

Why???

  • Price is Rs 110.
  • The pointed brush is just perfect to draw sharp lines.
  • It’s intense black eyeliner.
  • Lasting power is decent but for the price we are paying it is a good deal.

Blush –

Without going overbroad, try some of the blushes available out there. My suggestion for a budget friendly blush would be one from the brand Miss Claire, Single Big Blusher. I have tried the shade 31 which is a beautiful peach shade.

Why???

  • Price is Rs 225.
  • They have 17 shades of blushes to choose from…!!!
  • Pigmentation is quite good.

Eyeshadow –

You must have seen me creating this glossy eye makeup look in this video.

Where I have used glitter shadow from M.A.C. If you want to try eyeshadows and spend less money on it, then go for the ones from the brand Wet and Wild i.e. Wet n Wild Colour Icon Eyeshadow Glitter Single.

Why???

  • Price is Rs 135.
  • They have single coloured eyeshadow pack. You can buy shades you like instead of buying entire pallet, which you might not use much, it’s a good idea to buy single/ separate shades you liked the most.
  • Pigmentation is good.
  • They have both glitter and matte finished eyeshadows.
  • They also have good range of colours to choose from.

So, these are some of the products I had bought in the past and worked for me. Hope you find this post useful for an economic shopping.

This is What I Want to Say About Nykaa Matte to Last Range

You guys anyways know, I have this hobby( that’s the coolest or fancy word I chose to replace the word obsession) of buying all kind of lipsticks. Added a new member to my collection is this beautiful liquid lipstick from the brand Nykaa.

Nykaa is one of the online stores for cosmetics and accessories. Along with selling different cosmetics, they have started their own cosmetic line, with the same name. Highlighter, nail care, foundation, concealers and of course lip products to mention few.

IMG_20180724_132615_Bokeh.jpg

The range of liquid lipstick I am talking about is with the name Nykaa matte to last. As the name suggests it’s a matte finish lipstick. This means zero glossy effect.

Most attractive thing about these lipsticks are their unique names, inspired by some of the cities of India. Which are unique and special in their own way. There are 18 different shades, all with some attractive names. Dilli, Bombae, IT girl( Bengaluru), Mastani (Pune), Madras Kaafi (Chennai) etc. Aren’t they super cute???

Let’s talk about the shade I bought. It’s the shade Gul. Inspired by the hilly regions of India.

Total shades available:

18

Shade I Chose :

Gul (Pinkish shade). Perfect for day wear.

Price :

550 INR for 5 ml (You can buy it from here.)

Shelf life :

3 years

What company claims and the Ingredients :

IMG_20180802_175442.jpg

Packing:

This packing reminds me of that of Huda beauty liquid lipsticks. A sliding, tiny case is just as cute as a button.

Outer cartoon has the similar shade as that of the lipstick inside. This makes the recognition easier.

Each packing has unique design on these cute outer cartoons. Particularly some unique monuments or things that symbolises the name of the city the particular lipstick is representing. For ex : Gul has these beautiful hilly region design, The shade Mastani has the beautiful Shaniwar wada(Her palace) design on it.

IMG_20180802_175319_Bokeh.jpg

The product comes inside this tiny plastic packing. The rectangular shaped container is quite sturdy and the lid is quite tight. Which makes it a good travel companion.

The plastic case is transparent and has the brand name printed on it in my favorite color – black. Thus you can keep an eye on the remaining quantity of the product.

On bottom of the case, is the sticker which has the number and name of the shade. Thus making it easier for you to pick the particular shade from your collection.

Applicator:

Its doe feet applicator. Soft and easy to use.

IMG_20180802_175507.jpg

Tint :

It is a pinkish shade. As you can see in the picture below. This is how it looks in day light. Even if you are a beginner and not so comfortable with lipsticks, you can still carry this shade. Looks very natural and light.

IMG_20180724_132720_Bokeh.jpg

Color payoff :

I loved the color payoff. One swipe, you are done. The pictures you are seeing here, I have applied just a single layer of the lipstick on my lips.

Staying Power:

Ahhh I am just amazed by its staying power. PS: I am not paid by Nykaa for this review. haha. If you are a lipstick lover, you know the pain of touch ups. If you are also lazy enough for touch ups, join me to know further.

I had saved this lipstick for one of my office parties. I had applied it on my lips at around 10:30 in the morning and when I went to wash my face before dozing off, the tint was still there…!!! It did fade. It wasn’t as intense as it was at the time of application (of course). But the tint was still there even after good amount of time. #Impressed

IMG_20180802_175420.jpg

Did it bleed?

While the lipstick was on, I had great food. While we were having food I was bit conscious whether the lipstick bleeds. Which can make me look like a vampire. haha. But for my goodness it didn’t bleed post having food. It did transfer though, to my water bottle, the juice glass and spoons.

Did it dry my lips?

The finish is matte. Most of us have the insecurities as the matte finish might highlight  the dry patches on lips. But this liquid lipstick has impressed me. After Huda beauty, I would love top recommend this matte lipstick to my girlies. It doesn’t really dry your lips. I did felt a little dryness in the beginning. But once it settled, the finish was matte and didn’t highlight any dry lines on my lips.

IMG_20180724_132751_Bokeh.jpg

Does the product stands for what it claims???

  • Superior matte finish – Yes
  • All day long – Yes quite a good time.
  • Transfer proof – Not really. It did transfer even after it was completely dried.

What I loved:

  • Comfortable matte finish.
  • Lasting power is impressive. No touch ups required.
  • Travel friendly packing.
  • No preservative.
  • Cruelty free.
  • No paraben.
  • Does not burn your pockets.

Will I repurchase???

Yes. I am going to purchase the shade Bombae. Very soon…!!!

Will I recommend???

Of course. In fact, I have already done that. Umm rather, the shade has already sold itself. My colleagues were awed by the shade I had wore for the party. I was so impressed at the end of the day, I did recommend this range to those who were interested to add a beauty to their collection of lip products.

Mygirlypedia Rating : 4.5/5 ( It did transfer a bit so deducting 0.5 )

If you want to try liquid lipstick, without making hole in your pockets and want a non drying formula – give it a try.

Don’t forget to let me know how you find this range. 🙂

My Take On Himalaya Face Pack

Hi,

Which is your favorite face pack??? No, I am not talking about home made one. If I have to ask you, which is your face pack from the ones you get in market… which one would it be??? Mine is this one.

Recently, I wanted to buy a new face pack as I was bored with the ones I have. But not in a mood to spend much on one.

I have heard a lot about the brand Himalaya, which is known for its good products with safe ingredients. Plus prices are comparatively low for the quality of their products. I have used their body lotion before. It had turned out to be a good one. So, after looking at different shelves in the shop for face packs, going through different types of face packs of same range which are meant to serve different skin purposes, picked up this one. Lets see whether this pocket friendly product turned out to be skin friendly or not.

Brand:

Himalaya

Name:

Himalaya Herbals Fairness Kesar Face Pack

Price:

135 INR for 100 gm (Affordable I say)

You can try out smaller version for testing purpose too. 50gm will cost you 75 INR.

Shelf Life:

What Company Claims???

Himalaya Herbals Fairness Face Pack lightens and evens skin tone, reduces dark spots and blemishes, reduces visibility of dark circle, nourishes skin and moisturises the skin. It is enriched with natural ingredients like walnut which act as natural exfoliator helping remove dead cells, impurities and black heads. Himalaya Herbals Fairness Face Pack help to clean the skin surface making skin look soft, healthy and supple.

Removes dirt.

Exfoliates the skin without being harsh on the skin.

Made with natural ingredients.

Ingredients:

Seems to be safe…

Curcuma longa (Turmeric, Haridra) Juglans regia(Walnut, Akschota) Crocus sativus (Saffron, Kumkuma)

Packing:

A very first reason to opt for Himalya face pack is, apart from being good ingredients it is also a hygienic packing. The tube packing helps in maintaining hygiene because we don’t have top dip fingers in it to take out the product. Like we do in case of tub packing.

This off white and green combo plastic tube has flip cap. Which is tight and thus it can be carried while we travel. Also, you can squeeze out required quantity of face pack without having to worry of any spillage or wastage.

Fragrance:

Strangely it smells like lacto calamine lotion.

Texture:

It is creamy.

How to Use:

Apply it evenly on face leaving mouth and eyes(obviously. And yes nostrils. Because of the obvious reason haha) Leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Remove with wet sponge/towel. Rinse with cool water.

I am suggesting to use towel because this face pack is thick in texture. Its not easy to wash with water in one go.

My take:

Something that made me pick this face pack is it’s ingredients. Turmeric has antibacterial and healing properties, walnut is good for scrubbing. Kesar/Saffron is the queen of home remedies when it comes to skin.

I applied this on my face. It feels like a thick layer of cream on your face. It doesn’t give you any cooling or burning effect. Just let it stay on face for 15-20 minutes. It doesn’t really dry fast as it’s thick in texture. But let me tell you one thing, a common mistake we all do when we apply face packs. Not all the face packs need to be left till they dry. The idea here is to get most of benefits from face pack not to dry the face pack on our faces. Some face packs, as and when they dry they absorb all the natural oil from your face too…!!!

So post the specified time, tried washing it with water. But washing cream away is not an easy task. Patches of cream are still be there on face. So using a cotton pad or towel would be more handy. Plus using cotton pad or a cotton towel has the benefit of scrubbing also. Thus bye bye dead cells.

Once I had cleaned my face completely, I liked the glow it gave to my skin. Even though it didn’t really last that long, but that instant glow is worth trying this face pack for. Plus it didn’t dry my skin like some other packs and left skin super cleaned. #HappyMe

As per as skin lightening is concerned, I didn’t see much of that. It does add that glow and instant brightening. But no long lasting skin lightening benefits as such.

Good things about Himalaya Herbals Fairness Kesar Face Pack :

  • Affordable
  • Gives nice glow
  • Cleans skin very well
  • Does not dry skin
  • Safe ingredients
  • Travel friendly packing
  • Availability – available both at local drug stores as well as online.

Not so good things about Himalaya Herbals Fairness Kesar Face Pack :

  • Glow doesn’t really lasts longer
  • Can’t clean only with water. Need cotton pads to clean it completely from face.

Will I repurchase???

Yes(but once I finish all my stock of other face packs). I liked the way it adds glow and brightens skin tone in one use.

Will I recommend???

Yes. Its within budget, brightens skin tone, adds glow. I guess it’s a good deal for the price we are paying. Ideal to use before any special events to attend.

Is Patanjali Body Lotion Worth Trying?

‘Patanjali’ one Indian brand, which made most of the other brands to run for their money. Found by a saint(unlike others, he doesn’t really preach about religion, but preaches about benefits of yoga.which is great.) Baba Ramdev, aims to deliver safe products for less price. From home products to kitchen products, oral care to beauty products which includes skin, hair care products, this one brand produces everything. The best thing about their products is that they all have safe or ayurvedic ingredients in their products.

My mom is a fan of their toothpaste so are some of my friends. Since beauty section is my section, I have tried some of their beauty products like lip care, aloe vera gel and recently their body cream.

So, here I’m reviewing the lotion from the famous Patanjali brand. I was traveling so picked a travel size lotion. Currently, I’m writing this and their ad for their health product is been telecasted on TV. Haha

Brand:

Patanjali

Price:

60 INR for 100ml

Ingredients:

Shelf life:

2 years

What Company Claims:

Rejuvenates, protects skin and increases skin glow.

Packing:

It comes in white sturdy plastic bottle. It’s a flip one which makes it even more easier to travel with and to use.

Plus as you all know, the flip cap earns more when it comes to hygiene. Because you don’t have to dip fingers in lotion to take it out.

Apart from this thin golden strip on the cap nothing else is fancy.

Fragrance:

It has a fresh fragrance. Smells something like Fuller earth. It’s not over empowering so, gals with sensitive nose can also use this without any worries.

The fragrance lingers for some time and fades eventually.

Color:

Off white.

Texture:

Thin lotion like consistency. Non sticky, not oily and runny.

Did it stands by what it claims…

Moisturizing:

I have dry skin. This lotion doesn’t really adds extra moisture for extra dry skin in winters. It should work fine for normal to oily skin.

Skin glow:

Yes. With one single try, it did works like a whitening lotion. But not so good news is, this glow doesn’t last long. So for quick use this lotion is a good pick.

What I found good in Patanjali Body Lotion:

  • Availability
  • Budget friendly
  • Increases skin glow
  • Safe ingredients
  • Mild fragrance
  • Works for normal to oily skin
  • Travel friendly packing

What I found things worth improving in Patanjali Body Lotion:

  • Doesn’t work for dry skin
  • Glow doesn’t lasts

Will I repurchase?

I think, no since it’s not ideal for dry skin.

Will I recommend this lotion to you?

If you are normal to oily skinned beauty, yes. This is a good deal for the little amount we are paying.

Three Letter Mantra to Follow for A Beautiful Skin

Hellooo,

I have been writing a lot about makeup products in detail. I realised something which I was missing, when one of my friends asked me so innocently,” Pallavi, what is CTM??? Could you please write a post about it???”

So here is the post about the basement of skin care – CTM. Its an abbreviation. Each letter represents different basic products we need to keep the skin in good condition. Ummm you must have heard about these products… Any guesses???

C – Cleanser

T – Toner

M – Moisturizer

Let me explain more..

Cleanser-

8042146_f520

As the name suggests, cleansing or cleaning. Cleaning skin from external dirt. There are different ways to cleanse your skin. I will write about it tomorrow.

Umm if you have a doubt about washing face is considered as cleansing??? I would say to a certain extent yes. But not every facial foam/wash can cleanse your skin pores completely. Not every face wash can remove your makeup. Agree???

Easiest way to cleanse your face is using a good cleanser. There are multiple cleansers available in market. I have been using a cleanser from the brand Garnier. I have already bought my second bottle already. You can check this post to know why I recommend this to you.

How to use:

Check the video here where I have demonstrated how to use toner.

Toner:

01

Toner is oil based liquid. It is used for ultra purification of facial pores.

No matter how good the cleanser might be there are chances that traces of makeup or impurity still persist inside pores. This will lead to pore clogging that in turn leads to pimples. Toner helps in removing that dirt from pores and leave them ready for absorption of moisture or serum which we will be doing in the next step.

Toner also provides soothing effect to skin and said to lighten the redness or blemishes if any. Point I want to mention here is, there are some toners in market which I had tried earlier gives tingling effect too…!!! May be that’s how they work. Personal suggestion, do not opt for alcohol based toner. As it might irritate your eyes. Because I had made that mistake I don’t want you, my dear reader, to do.

There are multiple brands with so many options for a toner. If you are thinking of which one to buy, I have a suggestion for you. Which suits every skin type and a budget friendly one or I would say it costs nothing. Rose water. Yes that’s the best toner you can find.
Check this out to know more about how to prepare rose water at home.

How to use:

Drop few drops of toner on cotton balls/pads. Apply it on face. No need to rub. Be gentle and pat it on face.

Moisturizer:

applying-moisturizer

As you all know what this is for.

Yes you are right, to add that extra moisture or hydration to your skin. Adding moisture to skin helps in improving texture and tone of skin.

Thing we need to take care is that one single moisturizer may not meet different skin needs. Every different skin type needs different moisturizer for a good care.

Dry skin – Badly needs more hydration. Oil based moisturiser is best for this type of skin.

Oily skin – We can not apply oil based moisturiser to already oil producing skin. Can we??? This will worsen the situation. Hence, light weight or water based moisturizer is ideal.

Normal/Combination skin – This type is a lucky one as they choose either (water/oil based) of the moisturisers as per their current need.

How to use:

Using fingers apply gently on face leaving eyes and lips area(I know it’s obvious but no harm in mentioning. hehe)

Now, the biggest question –

what’s the order to carry out these steps…

It’s in the word – CTM itself dearie…!!!

Cleanser then toner, followed by moisturizer.

Clean your face. Clean more. Add moisture.

See, this is that easy…!!!

If you have any more questions regarding CTM, please feel free to contact Mygirlypedia…!!!

Happy to help you…!!!

Happy CTMing…!!! haha… Muuuaahhh…

Outer cartoon is deep black in color. Has the brand name and name of the shade printed on it. Other details like ingredients, price, shelf life etc. are also mentioned on it.

Lipstick case is a black matte finished bullet. The plastic used is strong. Bullet is small and can be carried easily with you.

DSCN0229

Not so creamy.

It is good. One swipe is enough to paint your lips red. As company says, we can layer it up for an intense look.

Does this transfer?

No. It doesn’t melts or bleeds.

DSCN0238

What I liked about this lipstick:

  • Color payoff
  • Does not dry lips.
  • Nice satin matte finish.

Will I repurchase???

Frankly, No. I know other brands which cost me less and does good job.

Will I recommend???

Umm no. I am not overwhelmed by this lipstick for the price I have paid. Instead I can recommend some red lipsticks which are ‘in’ the budget. If you want me to name them, do let me know in the comment section.

Mygirlypedia Rating: 3/5

Hope this review will help you with your next Bobbie Brown haul.

So the next time I dream of some high end product, I will think about it before buying.( I know which I won’t)

Best Lipsticks for Beginners…!!!

Hey,

Now that you have been following my world – Mygirlypedia, you know how much I love lipsticks. My collection of lipsticks which I had revealed some time back is the proof for it.

Many of you been asking which is one brand of lipstick that I would suggest for a beginner, who is taking baby steps into the magical world of makeup. When I say beginner, I mean to say the one who wants to apply lipsticks but not sure whether she will be able to carry it or not. Thus she is not willing to spend more on a lipstick which she might not use in long run.

So, only best and a budget friendly brand I can come up with is, Elle 18.

I have multiple lipsticks from this brand. Mostly reds, pinks and peach. I am gonna swatch them for you in this post. Check out why I love this brand so much.

Brand:

Elle 18

Range:

Color Pops

DSCN0087
MYGIRLYPEDIA.COM

Between there are multiple ranges available in this brand’s lipsticks. There are matte and other finishing. But I love this range more.

What Product Claims:

Dual core lipstick format.

Extra moisturizing with cocoa butter and jojoba oil.

Creamy smooth and soft texture.

Vibrant Shades.

Rich color pay off.

Intense look.

Attractive pop Colors.

Shades Available:

There are 19 shades available. Yes nineteen varieties of colors to choose from. Wanna know the shades??? Check them out here.

Shade I own:

DSCN0096
MYGIRLYPEDIA.COM

Pretty Peach (Shade number 43):

This is a light peach colored lipstick. Definitely my favorite among all other Elle 18 lipsticks I own. It looks so natural on lips, looks super feminine.

If you are hesitant  to try out reds or pinks, this is definitely the one for you. You will feel comfortable enough to carry this on daily basis to work place or to colleges as well.

Pinken (Shade Number 31):

This shade is a mixture of pink and red. If you love red lipsticks but not so confident enough, go for this one.

Rosy Blush (Shade Number 27):

This is a cherry red shade. Always dream of or at least thought of trying out a red shade on your lips??? Try this. You just have to spend 100 INR to fulfill that thought of yours.

Price:

100 INR for 4.3 ml. I told you it is budget friendly..!!!

Shelf Life:

30 Months

Packing:

It comes in a small and cute black lipstick bullet, with the brand name written in Pink. A cartoon sketch of a gothic look(at least I find her gothic) gal is something which we can’t miss. Cute because they are not like other lipstick bullets which are lean or narrow. These are a kind of chubby. Look at them.

They are tiny and perfect to carry around in your purse or hand bags. Thus they can be a good travel companion.

DSCN0086
MYGIRLYPEDIA.COM

You might be thinking they all look alike in terms of packing. How to differentiate the shade without opening them??? Well, there is a sticker at the bottom with the shade name and number written on it. Which makes easy to pick the particular shade.

Texture:

These cuties are buttery soft. Glides really well.

Finish:

A smooth and shiny finish.

Fragrance:

They smell like bubble gums. Yes they do. haha

Are these Moisturizing???

Yesss. If you can see there are two layers. Outer colored layer and inner colorless layer which seems to be the cocoa butter and jojoba oil. Umm inner layer was colourless when they were new. Now they look like that of their outer shade, for obvious reasons.

Are they transfer proof???

Umm. No. They do transfer. But it will be mean if we start expecting so much by paying so less. I mean no matter what lipstick you choose, there is still chance that do transfer. These tiny little things are not any exception. Hence not a con for me.

Staying Power:

The shiny finish slowly fades as and when you eat or drink food. The tint still remains for good amount of 5 to 6 hours. Not bad huun.

Why These are Good???

  • Budget Friendly.
  • Moisturizing.
  • Shiny finish.
  • Travel friendly packing.
  • Smells good. haha
  • Good staying power, at least for the price we are paying.

What could have been better???

Transfer proof. But as I said not a con for me.

Mygirlypedia Rating: 5/5

I have also made a quick video for it.

So girlies, I hope now you know which brand to start with if you want to build a lipstick empire like me. haha.

Do try out and let me know your take on this.

Hope you found this useful for your haul.

All You Need to Know About Dry Shampoos

Hello,

Imagine when you are not having a good hair day…. Oily scalp, greasy hair and you get a call from your friend about this ‘sudden plans’…

What to do??!!

Head bath is must… If you have short hair, you are quite safe… You can get that’ quick shower’… But, what about gals with mid or long length hair… It’s impossible to take a quick bath, as we really need good amount of time to wash and dry our tresses. You can check the other problems of having long hair here. You can check the other problems of having long hair here.

Even though we can’t take a quick bath, let’s look into this ‘quick solution’…

The name of this quick solution is Dry shampoo…

Let’s get to know what it is… How it works… Pros and cons… Ready???

What is Dry Shampoo???

It’s a different kind of shampoo that does the job without the involvement of water…

How to use dry shampoo???

There are many companies out there who have come up with different flavored dry shampoos.

All we got to do is,

  • Just open the bottle and spray the shampoo on your hair. That’s it. You are almost done.
  • When we spray it, there is this white residue left on hair, so you got to blend it by running your fingers through hair.
  • Combe your hair nicely… And you are done.

You don’t have to use water to moisten or to rinse it at the end. Time-saver huun??? 😉

Pros of Using Dry Shampoo :

  • You know now that it is time saving. In terms of bath time as well as time we spend on drying hair post bath.
  • Saves water.
  • Smells good.
  • Results of dry shampooing remains for good three days at least.
  • Adds volume to hair..

Cons of Using Dry Shampoo :

  • It’s costly.
  • It takes time for hair to absorb the shampoo.
  • Dry shampoo makes hair dry.
  • If you have Grey hair, dry shampoo can make it look ashy.
  • Dry shampoo may not work if you have given hot oil massage to your hair the previous night.
  • Even though the brands which have come up with dry shampoos, test the product before releasing it in to the market, there might be some chemical to which your scalp might react.

However,  dry shampooing once in a while should be ok… Find the right shampoo by reading the ingredients… Because yet times we need a quick help to be ready to be a part of those ‘sudden plans’… 😉

Watch the Video of Garnier Cleansing Water Review

Hey,

You know what is the time consuming or most boring and challenging task of the day for a makeup enthusiast…??? 🤔

Na… Not applying makeup… We love it… It’s removing makeup. Because we know we can hit the bed with our makeup on. It breaks our skin. Hence makeup removal is must but it’s time consuming and borrring. Especially when it comes to removing your eye makeup after a hectic day at office or after a great party. When all you want is to go to sleep.

Well, I have found a quick solution for it. Wanna know how I end my day on a easy breezy note??? Check it out… My new found love…

Brand:

Cleansing water

Price:

175 INR for 125 ml

What product claims :

DSCN0666

How to use:

Check the video below where I have demonstrated how to use it. You can also see the effectiveness of cleaning water here.

Packing :

Comes in a sturdy and transparent plastic bottle. The transparency is helpful to keep a check on the product quantity inside the bottle.

The pink cap is a flip one. Which makes taking out cleanser on cotton pad easy.

Bottle is tiny and strong enough to carry in our travel bag. No worries of any spillage.

Texture :

It’s like water.

Fragrance :

It is colorless as well as odor less.

DSCN0665

Targeted skin type:

All types including sensitive skin.

My take :

The other day I saw this cleanser In one of my favorite shops, where I go for random shoppings. Thought of trying this cute little pinky pinky bottle. So picked it up.

Removal of Kajal and mascara is bit time consuming. Plus, it has to be neatly cleaned with gentle strokes. Because gal, eyelashes are precious. Right??

So, I took a cotton pad and applied cleanser to it. Dabbed the cotton pad on my eyes and swiped it gently with couple of strokes. Woo… Most of the kajal and mascara were on the cotton pad.

I can’t say it will remove whole makeup in one swipe. It takes minimum two to three swipes for a clearer skin around eyes.

It did clean my eye makeup and didn’t burn or dried the delicate skin around eyes.

DSCN0664

Will I Repurchase???

Yes. I think it’s a good deal for the little amount we are paying. Little amount of cleanser goes long way. Thus this bottle is gonna last for minimum one month. Hence I’m gonna buy it again.

Will I recommend???

Yes. Especially those gals who feel like a panda at the end of the day. Lazy to remove makeup. Lazy to wash face. This one is for you. Keep this near your bed.

Right Way to Wash Your Tresses

Hey Beautiful,

Hair is your crown, which you will never take off…!!! The least maintenance we can do is washing them regularly and keeping it clean right.???  Today, I will be sharing tips to wash your hair in right way. Shall we get started???

dadda50939a1e9339a11239a7641fbfd

Rinse your hair:

First thing first, always rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water before applying shampoo.

Less is more:

Take little amount of shampoo on your palm. Add some water to make it dilute. Apply this to your scalp and massage gently with your fingers. Lather well and with lather, massage the end of your hair. Hairs’ root is the new hair and need more cleansing as compared to the root tip. Root tip is the older but fragile hair. Massage more on the scalp than the hair ends.

IMG_4875

Avoid repeat shampooing:

It is recommended to use shampoo only once. We tend to wash hair using shampoo twice or thrice. But hair experts suggest using shampoo only once. One time is enough to clean the scalp. If you have applied oil before washing, then yes you might need to use more shampoo and wash it twice to get rid of oiliness.

Always be gentle:

No matter how busy you are, how much you are running out of time, always take time and wash your hair gently. The more gentle you are to your hair, the lesser the friction. Lesser the friction, lesser damage to hair.

Conditioner is must:

Shampoos are full of chemicals. They tend to absorb moisture from hair. It is recommended to use conditioner after you wash your hair. Wipe your hair with towel before applying conditioner to make most of it. The older hair requires more care. It is advisable to apply conditioner below the shoulder level. Do not apply conditioner on your scalp.

Condition-Your-Hair-Always

If you have long hair, you can use conditioner before shampoo:

If you have long and dry hair, you can reverse the  procedure to keep the moist in your hair. Conditioner conditions and adds moisture to hair. Shampooing later to that, doesn’t make your hair dry.

End with cold water rinse:

Hot water opens the pores and cold water closes them. It is recommended to rinse your hair with cold water at the end of washing, to close the opened pores and add shine to hair.

Some More Tips:

Do not use hot water shower:

Heat causes more damage to hair. It dries out hair thus making it brittle and more split ends. In order to keep your hair healthy, its better you use warm water instead of hot one.

a-hot-shower

Use shampoo and conditioner which are made for your hair type:

There are plenty of shampoos and conditioner in the market. Depending on your hair concern and type, choose a product. For eg. If your concern is dry hair, moisturizing shampoo and conditioner are best for you. If your hair is thin and scalp is oily, you avoid moisturizing shampoo. Instead you can opt for volumising shampoo and conditioners.

Hair mask:

Once in a week apply a moisturizing hair mask. Our hair needs that extra care. Pampering your self with a good hair mask, once in a while will do more good to you. You should use mask after cleaning hair. You can skip conditioner if you are using a mask.

You can check this post for homemade hair mask recipes.

hair-mask

Hair serum:

I personally like applying hair serum when your hair is wet. Reason being, it helps in more absorption. You will love the softness due to serum applied, when the hair dries.

These are some of the hair serums which worked for my dry hair.

I hope you found this quick post useful.

Take care of your crown Princess…!!!
