Useful Sheet Mask Tips To Make The Most Of It

It doesn’t really matter whether you are a beauty and skin care freak or not; I am sure if you live in the world of Instagram, you have seen these sheet masks while scrolling down the infinite Instagram feed. Haven’t you???

IMG_20190205_220742.jpg

You might know the basic about these sheet masks, let me share some of the tips and tricks to follow while using one. I am sure you will find it useful for your next pampering session with the sheet masks.

What is a sheet mask?

It’s a serum infused paper mask.

Why sheet mask???

Primary purpose of using a sheet mask is to add hydration to your skin.

Sheet mask or a moisturiser???

A good moisturiser adds moisture to your skin (which you all know). But sheet mask on the other hand has serum in it. Which in comparison with moisturiser, easily gets absorbed by skin. Thus, adding maximum moisture your skin needs.

Packing of sheet mask

Sheet mask comes in a pouch packing. A sheet mask which is dipped in serum.

Sheet masks before CTM or after CTM?

Ideally, it’s the M in the CTM where you moisturise. So, it’s always preferred to cleanse your face thoroughly and then use sheet mask. I personally skip toner.

Never use the sheet mask while the makeup is on or there is dirt on your face. Because adding moisture on makeup or dirt is going to clog pores which will end up in breakouts.

How to use a sheet mask?

Unfold the sheet mask and place it on your face. It ha these gaps for your eyes, mouth and nostrils.

For how long should I keep the sheet mask on?

Sheet mask should not be used more than 15 minutes. Reason being, 15 minutes is good enough for your skin to absorb the serum. If the sheet mask left more than that, the drying/ dried sheet masks can start absorbing moisture from your skin. So, doing no good to your skin.

IMG_20190128_224227__01.jpg

How to make use of the excess serum in the pouch?

I love layering the serum on my face once I am done using the sheet mask. I also apply serum on my hands and feet sometimes. Ultimately, it’s a serum which adds moisture. Our hands and feet also need moisture, right?

Should I wash my face after using a sheet mask?

A big no. Because if you do so, it’s absolutely a waste of time and of course the money spent on masking. The serum which is absorbed by the skin should be left to see it’s magic. If we wash face, the serum will be gone, skin won’tbe benefited much.

Should I use moisturiser post sheet masking?

Umm it depends on your skin type. If you really feel the necessity for more moisture, you can. But usually serum in the sheet mask is quite heavy and most of us might not feel the need for moisture.

Should I use the sheet mask daily?

Even if you have dry skin, I don’t really suggest you use sheet mask every day. Because sheet mask is a huge source of moisture. Everything should be in moderation. So, I don’t personally prefer to add so much moisture every day to my skin.

How frequently should I use sheet mask?

If you have dry skin, 3 times a week should be good enough. If you have normal to oily skin, twice should be ok.

How long the results going to last?

Honestly, a day or max two.

Special Tip:

If you have oily, choose the sheet mask wisely. As your skin is already oily, you don’t need more moisture. Sheet masks like shea butter, avocado is something which you better avoid.

If your skin is prone to acne, sheet masks which is meant for skin type like green tea should be helpful. They add moisture also takes care of skin.

If you want to make your own sheet mask, check this out. Where I have mentioned how to make one at home.

Makeup Products for Beginners, Under Budget

Recently, one of my friends asked me to suggest some cosmetics which are best and within the budget.

With the collection of stuffs I have, the ones I have personally tried and tested, making a list for you.

So, let’s do this…!!!

Lipstick –

If you are very new to the world of lipsticks, it usually happens that you are not sure which colour suits you. It makes total sense that you don’t want to waste money on some expensive lipstick, which looked good on you while you tried in shops but didn’t suit you in day light. So, for beginners, I would suggest this brand of lipsticks – Elle 18.

Why I am suggesting Elle 18:

  • They are totally totally pocket friendly. Price range is between Rs 80 to Rs 150.
  • They have wide range of colours to choose from. From bright shades to n*de ones, they have it.
  • If you want to try out different textured lipsticks like glossy, matte etc, have no worries because Elle 18 got them all.
  • Best thing I love about Elle 18 is that they do not dry the lips.

If you want suggestions with shades, watch this video of mine where I have shown swatches of lipsticks suitable for beginners.

Lip-gloss –

Needless to say, the lipstick lover in me has typed these two sections first.

Lip-gloss, as the name suggests, is more glossier and adds shine to lips. If you are not sure whether you will be able to carry shiny lips, then try these gloss from Lakme.

Why???

  • Price is Rs 200.
  • They are glossy and moisturising. Thus no fear of dried lips
  • The shade rage is very limited to 3. But, you can apply a lipstick and on top, add this gloss. Voila, you created your own shade…!!!

Compact Powder –

If you are an oily skinned beauty, compact is a must to avoid shiny face. If you have combination skin, it is advised to pat some compact on your T- Zone and forehead to skip the greasiness. For more details about compact powder – here you go.

For beginners, I would suggest compact from Lakme.

Why???

  • The compact will costs you Rs 145.
  • Even though they have shades limited to 4, you can mix two different shades to match your skin tone if needed.
  • Travel friendly packing comes with mirror. So, touch ups made easy.
  • Plus you don’t have to spend more money on applicator. It comes with applicator sponge as well.

Foundation –

In case you want to know what and why we use foundation, check this post of mine. Where I have explained all minute details about foundation.

So, to talk about budget friendly foundation, the less priced ones I have tried are from Lakme. They are –

  1. Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation – Available shades are 4
  2. Lakme Face Magic Skin Tints Soufflé – Available shades 3.

Why???

  • They do decent job of covering skin imperfections.

Issue with Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation is there are no shade options for dusky skinned beauties. The issue I faced with Lakme Face Magic Skin Tints Soufflé is that it doesn’t moisturise the skin. You might feel skin is way more dry at the end of the day.

If you like to spend more and get good foundation, go with Fit Me range from the brand Maybelline. You might have seen that foundation in most of my YouTube videos. The price of it is Rs 525 and they have shades for most of the skin tones. I am pretty sure you will find right shade for yourself in that range.

Concealer –

Assuming you are new to makeup,I would suggest you to read this post about concealer before buying one.

Also, I have already reviewed the concealers I have tried, in this post.

They may or may not be within the budget, but they work well.

Kajal –

You know how much I love eye makeup. Kajal is something I am never satisfied with. Often buy and try different Kajal from different brands. Even though my interest lies in different coloured Kajal or eyeliner, I am restricting myself to basic stuffs here.

For basic black Kajal, I would suggest the one from the brand Himalaya Herbals.

Why???

  • Pocket friendly price of Rs 45. I mean, we can’t ask for lesser than this.
  • I don’t say it’s a total smudge proof formula. Because, honestly there is no smudge proof as such. But with the amount of money we are paying for this Kajal, it’s totally worth it.
  • It’s a deep black shade. Looks lovely on eyes.Find the detailed review of Himalaya Herbals Kajal here.

Eyeliner –

Stepping out without eyeliner seems like stepping out n*ked. Check this post of mine to know the feeling of an eye makeup lover.

For black eyeliner, I have always loved gel liner from Maybelline. Maybelline New York Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner – Black.

Why???

  • Price is Rs 525. But this little pot of eyeliner gel goes long way. Little amount is enough to draw lines on both eyelids.
  • Nice pigmentation.
  • Comes with applicator brush.
  • Lasting power is good too.

For beginners who are not well versed with drawing eyeliners, go with gel ones. Because gel eyeliners are not as runny as liquid ones. If you try drawing eyeliners using liquid eyeliner in the beginning, you tend to face these two issues:

  • You going to end up making lot of mess and become a panda eyed human.
  • There is high chance that you lose confidence and stop trying eye makeup.

If you know basics of drawing eyeliners and want a really good budget friendly eyeliner, go with this liquid eyeliner from the brand Lakme – Insta Liner Eye Liner. (Detailed Review Here).

Why???

  • Price is Rs 110.
  • The pointed brush is just perfect to draw sharp lines.
  • It’s intense black eyeliner.
  • Lasting power is decent but for the price we are paying it is a good deal.

Blush –

Without going overbroad, try some of the blushes available out there. My suggestion for a budget friendly blush would be one from the brand Miss Claire, Single Big Blusher. I have tried the shade 31 which is a beautiful peach shade.

Why???

  • Price is Rs 225.
  • They have 17 shades of blushes to choose from…!!!
  • Pigmentation is quite good.

Eyeshadow –

You must have seen me creating this glossy eye makeup look in this video.

Where I have used glitter shadow from M.A.C. If you want to try eyeshadows and spend less money on it, then go for the ones from the brand Wet and Wild i.e. Wet n Wild Colour Icon Eyeshadow Glitter Single.

Why???

  • Price is Rs 135.
  • They have single coloured eyeshadow pack. You can buy shades you like instead of buying entire pallet, which you might not use much, it’s a good idea to buy single/ separate shades you liked the most.
  • Pigmentation is good.
  • They have both glitter and matte finished eyeshadows.
  • They also have good range of colours to choose from.

So, these are some of the products I had bought in the past and worked for me. Hope you find this post useful for an economic shopping.

Droopy Eyelashes??? Eyelash Lifting to The Rescue

As you know, eyelashes play a very prominent role in enhancing beauty of your eyes. No matter whether the eyelashes are thin, small, thick, long we all have our own set of problems. If you ask me, even though my eyelashes are long, they are flat and they fall on my eyes. Hence eyelash curler is a must for me.

Recently one of my favourite bloggers Corallista had posted about eyelash lifting. Me, being a curious soul, had to search about it. Let me share with you what I found about eyelash lifting.

So first of all, what is eyelash lifting. As the name suggests it is lifting your eyelashes to give you a nice dramatic eyelashes. So if you have stubborn eyelashes like mine which doesn’t stay curled for long, opting for eye lash lifting would be a great idea.

The best part about eyelash lifting according to me was, before conducting the procedure, the specialist asks you about your requirement. If you are thinking what might be requirements when it comes to eyelashes are, one – you can opt for eyelashes facing your eyebrows to get that open eyed fresh look. Two – if you opt for fanned out eyelashes to get that dramatic look. So what would be your pick? Mine would be the second one. I love drama haha.

So once you choose the style of the eyelashes you want to get, the specialist will decide the length of the curls based on it and of course the shape of your eyes.

The big question is how is this done. You can say this works as the smoothening of your hair. Just like in smoothening, a solution is used to curl your eyelashes. So to start with your eyelashes are combed thoroughly so that every strand is separated. A silicone sheet is stick on your skin under your eyes and upper eyelid. Your eyelashes are glued to the silicon sheet. Once they are glued a perming solution is applied over the eyelashes. This solution breaks the bond and smoothens it. Once your eyelashes are smooth the curling becomes easier.

This solution is left on your eyelashes over 6 to 12 minutes. It depends on the thickness of your eyelash hair how much time this solution is left on them.

Once the eyelashes are curled, a setting solution and oil are applied. This setting solution will restructure the bond and strengthens it. Thus locking up the new shape. The applied oil will add hydration and smoothens the eyelashes.

Depending on the hair type, this procedure will lasts. Usually this result will last for 6 to 8 weeks.

Just like post smoothening your hair, you need to take care of your eyelashes post lifting them. For 24 hours you are not supposed to touch or wet your eyelashes. After which, you can apply mascara if you want or even you are good to go without a layer of mascara. Because those lifted eyelashes are more than enough to get you lots of compliments.

As compared to any other procedures for eyelashes, eyelash lifting has been said to be a very low maintenance procedure. The expense involved is comparatively less and you don’t have to maintain a lot post the procedure.

Like always I have couple of important points to share.

  • Eye lash lifting just lifts the eyelashes. It doesn’t add volume. If you want to add volume, either you should go with the procedure called eyelash extension or go with false lashes.
  • There are multiple hair lifting kit available online. I haven’t tried and would never try one. I would suggest my beautiful reader, not to take risk. If you want to get this procedure done, get it done by an expert.

After knowing about the simpler procedure and looking at the end results I really want to get the my eyelashes lifted up. Because this will keep them on place without having me to use eyelash curler and lots of layers of mascara.

If you are really really tired of droopy eyelashes, you have this option to opt for this procedure. Else eyelash curler and mascara should be enough to sort it out. In case you have already done eyelash lifting or know any expert who does, please let me know.

Hope you find this post helpful. 😊

For Girls Who Wear Glasses

Do you guys agree that we live in ‘screen age’. You know, just like stone age. Screen age – because our eyes are constantly on some or the other screens. Be it a computer’s screen, cell phone screen, tablet, television. Ahh the list is long…!!!

When our eyes are strained by looking at such screens for so long, there is definitely high chance we end up getting eye problems. Starting with the spectacles. Arrgghhh these spectacles doesn’t let us flaunt the beautiful eye makeup we apply. Even I do wear spectacles. I know the trouble. They make us look like a geek. To skip this pain, most of them opt for contact lenses. But to those who are scared to use one, like me, just wear their spectacles without having much options.

But no worries, there are set of makeup tips, that will definitely make you look pretty even behind  those frames.

Eye Makeup Lovers, Choose Bigger Frames

11.-Girls-With-Glasses-Ideas.jpg

If you are a lover of heavy eye makeup, try bigger or large frames. It will not only help you let your eye makeup show up through the glasses but also add a slight variation to your geeky look.

Use a good moisturiser and foundation with good coverage around nose.

Woman-applying-foundation.jpg

Even if the spectacles are light like a feather, they always end up leaving those nasty red marks on either side of the nose. In order to hide that, we definitely need good products.

Blot the makeup, especially around eyes to avoid your frames getting caked up.

4dba8e15-be1b-461a-b450-a383422d293e.jpg

No matter how good your cosmetic is, the frame of your spectacles gets those on them. In order to avoid makeup coming off to your frames, blot the makeup.

Curl your eyelashes

3bb53a99a3b45f4426c2f5d148297fd2

Especially if you have long eyelashes, you know the pain. As and when eyelashes hit the lenses, they leave the lenses blurry. So, curling them can keep them away from lenses in a better way. In case you want to know how to use eyelash curler, check this video of mine.

Don’t forget the mascara

women-glasses_00306889.jpg

The thick eyeliner/Kajal might get unnoticed behind the glasses, but not those lustrous eyelashes. Invest on some good mascara(I recommend this one), apply them on the roots to get those thick eyelash look.

Go Easy With Eyeshadows

eyes-flirt-geek-girl-glasses-kisses-lipstick-makeup-tumblr-wink-Favim.com-789247.jpg

Dark toned colors look heavy behind the glasses. Hence, if you wear eye glasses, go for neutral shade eyeshadows.

Concealer is A Must Below The Eyes

060417-ModelsInGlasses-6.jpg

Some girls have this misconception that glasses hide dark circles around your eyes. But, in reality, they magnify them. Hence do not skip concealers. Apply a good concealers below eyes to get that flawless look. If you are looking for a budget friendly concealer with good coverage, here are my recommendations.

Eyebrows

2.-Girls-With-Glasses.jpg

As I had mentioned in one of my posts about eyebrows, they definitely can change the way your face look. Shaping the eyebrow should be In your list if you are opting for eyeglasses. They give you the desired look.

If you are wondering which eyebrow shape looks good on you, refer this post.

In case you have thin eyebrows and want to grow them, you can check out my secret recipe for a homemade serum to grow them.

Cat Eyes

G12.jpg

When you are in doubt about eye makeup, go for a simple yet elegant cat eyed look. If you are new to eye makeup and want to know how to draw eyeliner, here is an easy breezy tutorial for you.

Balancing is the Key

girl-with-glasses.jpg

If your frame is heavy or black, go with bold lips. Dark colors look super elegant with dark frames.

Keep Your Glasses Clean

0RgkJWGk7Scx.jpg

I Start My Day at office, with cleaning The glasses using lens cleaner. For two reasons.  Because the frame happens to contain bacteria and blurry lenses never serve the purpose. In order to avoid the skin breakouts, always keep them clean.

See, being a Chashmish (name given to the one who wears spectacles) is not old schooled or about looking geeky any more.

Review of The Most Pocket Friendly Kajal I have Ever Used

You guys have seen my review of the most budget friendly eyeliner I have ever used. Today, I am gonna review the super pocket friendly and super cute Kajal I have used so far.

The other day when I had been to a local drug store to buy some essentials, I just happened to see these cute little Kajal packs. I tried not to add them in my cart. But ahhh I couldn’t. You know how much I love eye makeup products right???

This cutie is from one of the renown brand, Himalaya Herbals.

I have used different products from this brand like, body lotion, lip balms etc. Which I really liked. This one is not an exception.

Let’s see why I liked this Kajal.

Brand –

Himalaya Herbals

Price –

Ahh it’s just 45 INR for 1g…!!! That’s why I said it is a pocket friendly one.

Click On Below Image to Shop

OR You can buy one here.

Shelf Life –

3 Years.

Ingredients –

Almond oil, Castor oil, Camphor, Damask Rose, Triphaia.

Packing –

The outer cartoon looks something like this.

It has all the details about the product.

The product comes in a bullet packing. This is so tiny and cute, can definitely be carried with you in your jeans pockets/ purses. I can say it is pocket friendly in terms of price as well as the travel friendliness.

Outer cap has this green, which is a typical Himalayan product’s green strip with all the details.

Plastic used for this bullet doesn’t seem to be super sturdy. There are chances that it might break.

The transparent tube makes it easy to keep track of the quantity of product left. Plus, the pointed tip makes application super easy. You don’t have to carry a sharpener to sharpen the tip to draw thin lines.

Fragrance –

I love the fragrance of these Ayurveda or home made Kajals. This Kajal smells the same. It’s not so over empowering too. So, even gals with sensitive nose can opt for this.

In case you want to know how to prepare Ayurveda/ pure Kajal or Kohl at home, do check this post.

Texture –

Texture is soft. It glides very softly.

Color payoff –

This is a deep black shade. One swipe is enough to get the dark look. Check the picture of my eyes where I have applied the kajal on waterline as well as eyeliner on eyelids.

Staying Power –

Anyways, company never claimed about it’s staying power. But in general, we do judge an eye product mostly on it’s staying power. Don’t we?? This one stayed till end of the day, like for 7-8 hours. But it did fade. Was not as intense as it was when it was applied.

Does it smudge???

Yes it does. Its not smudge proof and water proof.

I must say, I have so many other Kajals in my collection, for which I have paid way more than this one. But this Kajal had minimal smudge under my eyes than some of the expensive Kajals I own. For the money I am paying, I am ok with this minimal smudge.

Does it gives cooling effect??

Unlike what the company claims, it didn’t give any cooling effect as such.

What I liked –

  • Value for money.
  • Minimal smudge on my oily waterline.
  • Travel friendly packing.
  • Availability.
  • Color payoff is good.
  • It doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals.

What I didn’t like –

Even though it smudges a little, I am happy with it’s work. For the money I have paid, nothing to complain about.

Will I repurchase???

Even though it seems so tiny, little goes long way. So will definitely buy one more once I finish this. Chemical free, tiny, fairly working kajal, which doesn’t burn my pocket, so why not.

Will I recommend???

Definitely yes. Especially those gals who are taking baby steps into teh world of eye makeup. Who doesn’t want to spend more on eye makeup till they are confident enough. This one is definitely a yes.

Mygirlypedia Rating: 4.75/5 (For minimal smudging I am deducting minimal point. hehe )

If You Are Looking For Affordable and Waterproof Mascara, This One Is For You

Hello,

They say eyes are windows to your soul. Eyelashes have huge part to play when it comes to enhancing the beauty of your eyes.

Who doesn’t love those long, thick, curled and picture perfect(read it as selfie perfect) lashes??? We all do right??? Oh yes we do.

Mascara is that one product that is used to define the eye lashes. There are multiple types of mascaras available in the market, which serve multiple purposes. Like for eg, curling the lashes, lengthening, to make them look thick, to add volume etc etc.

I have tried many mascaras from different brands (needless to say. You guys already know how Shopaholic I am). I recently picked this one little cutie from a drug store nearby, as a part of my ‘random shopping'(you are familiar with this habit of mine if you are a follower of my blog). I loved it so much that I just thought of sharing my experience with you guys, so that you don’t miss this one.

Let’s get to know this cutie more.

Brand:

Maybelline New York

Product Name:

The Falsies. Volum’ Express.

Shade Number:

291 Very Black

Price:

500 INR for 7.5 ml (Buy here)

Shelf Life:

2.5 years

What Company Claims:

  • Unique flexible wand helps to lift and separate lashes to provide the look of more lashes.
  • Patented spoon brush and kera-fiber formula instantly build 8x more volume without clumping to complete the glam lash look.
  • Opthalmologist tested.
  • Contact lens safe.

Packing:

The outer cartoon has all the details of the product. Sorry it’s torn as I forgot to click some pictures before using. I was excited to use this. Hehe.
This comes in a typical mascara packing. The sturdy plastic tube is tiny enough to carry it in your handbag. This makes it a travel friendly product.

Plus, the color is something I like. The ring kind of thing that separates the cap and the tub makes it little more cuter. 😊

Wand:

As written on the outer cartoon, it’s a spoon brush. It’s slightly bent. Which is supposed to give that lift effect the company is claiming about.

The thin bristles defines the eyelashes once the mascara is applied.

Fragrance:

It has this smell of new shoes or something (yep I’m not lying). But you hardly smell it unless and until you bring the mascara wand nearer to your nose, instead of eyes hehe.

Waterproof:

Yep it is. This is one thing I loved the most about this product. The mascaras I have used earlier use to get clumped and smudged. This used to stop me from using them. But this one never smudged. Happy dance

My take On The Falsies Mascara:

The sales girl at the drug store advertised about this product saying -” ma’am, it will give you those false eyelashes look”. I know it’s her job to flatter her customers with the ‘extra admirations’ of the products. Hehe. But after using so many products, I know how these things work. I bought this just to try this out.

But for my goodness, it worked for me. Even though it doesn’t really give you a false eyelashes look, it did defined my eyelashes well.

This smudge proof and waterproof mascara never gets smudged with water. You need a good cleanser to remove it.

About the lift thing,it doesn’t really give you that lift or curled effect. Need to use curler.

What I Liked:

  • It didn’t smudge.
  • Defines my eyelashes. Makes them look long and beautiful.
  • Travel friendly packing.
  • Affordable.
  • Availability is not an issue.

What I Didn’t Like:

  • Didn’t really give that lift effect. Need to use eyelash curler.
  • If you have really sensitive nose, the smell might bother you while applying the mascara. But it faints quickly.
  • Ingredients not mentioned.
  • Doesnt gets cleaned with just water. Need to invest on good cleanser.

Will I repurchase???

Yes. 😊

Will I suggest this to you???

Yes. For those natural look, without getting flakes, plus waterproof mascara. Definitely yes.

Easy Smudged Eye Makeup Tutorial

Hello my dear reader,

Adding one more to my ‘eye makeup tutorial’ list, here is the smudged eye makeup look.

We often complaint about our eye makeup getting sumdge. They make you look like a panda. 🐼

The nice day to deal with a kajal which smudges a lot is to use it for this particular look I’m gonna teach you today.

Even though this eye makeup looks best on ethnic wears, it also suits most of Western wears.

Trick for this look is, smudge the eye makeup before it gets smudged. How???

You can use a brush or an ear bud to smudge it.

Just smudging away the product might not give you a desired look. Hence, try adding some more color to it. Adding eyeshadow for this look works the best.

Look, how I achieve this look using a kajal and an eyeshadow.

I hope you find it useful.😊

This Eyeliner With Smudger from L’Oréal Paris – Great Pick or Not…!!!

Hey,

You know there are advantages of being a shopaholic… 😉 By spending more than 5k per year on Nykaa, I have become a Prive member. I love the queen tiara icon we get against our name in Nykaa account. It’s like we are being crowned as a shopaholic queen. 👸

So, perks of being a member is, we get different discount coupons. A birthday gift on our birthdays. I might have missed mentioning this, but I had received a beautiful makeup bag last year on my birthday, from Nykaa.

Since I have 6 coupons for free shipments which are valid till this month end, the shopping Addict gal inside me thought of making most of it. Hence ordered items below 500( Amount eligible for free shipping) separately. Mostly I have ordered my favorite makeup i.e. Eye makeup products.

Today I’m gonna review one of those products. Eyeliner from L’Oreal Paris.

What made me choose this one??? It has smudger with it. Which we can use to smudge the kajal or eye liner to get Smokey looks.

Let’s see whether I liked it or not…

Brand:

L’Oreal Paris

Name:

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smoky Eyeliner

Price:

650 INR ( I got it for 480 something, after discount) for 1.2 g.

Click On Below Image to Shop

Shelf life:

28 months.

What Company Claims:

Packing:

It comes in a typical eye pencil packing. Color combination of the pencil being black and gold, it does look attractive. What makes it different is it is dual sided. One side the kajal and the other side is smudge brush or smudger.

Both sides have tight lids or caps, which are transparent. This makes it easy to differentiate between the kajal and smudger without having to open the caps to check.

Shades Available :

There are six shades available in this range.

  • Black Velour 201 (Black)
  • Mystic Grey 202 ( Dark Grey)
  • Brown Fusion 204 (Brown)
  • Stormy Sea 207 (Teal Green)
  • Antique Green 209 (Green)
  • Purple Dream 211 (Purple)

Shade I Picked:

Mystic Grey 202 – It’s a dark Grey. Falls towards black shade.

First stripe is without using a smudger. Second with couple of strokes of smudger.

Texture:

Creamy soft. Glides softly. Finishing is a matte finish one.

Smudger:

It is made up of soft rubber. A dome shaped smudger helps in smudging the kajal on waterline and eyeliner over the eyelids. Since this is soft, it glides along the waterline easily and does the job fairly well. Hence it saves your money in terms of buying a separate smudger brush.

My Take:

After looking at the reviews on Nykka, written by the customers who had bought this before, I finalized this one. It had worked on them. At least they have said it did. But it’s not the case with me.

As I said, it’s creamy thus making it easy to apply. The smudger is soft yet efficient. But, what turns me down is its staying power. It smudges very fast and looks bad. There is no way I could keep it smudge free.

If the eye product bleeds or smudges I don’t think it stands any chance to be a good product.

Good thing is the smudger. This works well. You can use this brush to smudge any other kajal or kohl, which you want to play with in order to create Smokey eye looks.

Things I liked About L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smoky Eyeliner:

  • Packing is travel friendly.
  • Smudger is quite useful.
  • Creamy texture.
  • As company claims, removal of this product from eyes is easy.

Things I Didn’t like About L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Smoky Eyeliner:

  • Pricey.
  • Smudges a lot.
  • Claim of ‘long lasting’ is not true. Staying power is very less.
  • Retractable pencil would be more useful as the sharpening pencil results in wastage of product.

Will I Repurchase??

No. It didn’t work for me. Hence a bigg No. Instead of spending this much, I will buy some other eye products I know which cost less and does amazing job.

Will I Recommend??

Replace Your Boring Kajal With This Sparkling One…!!!

Hello,

Are you a lover of eye makeup products…??? Can’t live without kajal and eyeliners…??? Well, this post will interest you… 😉

It’s time to drop our old gel liners… This year it’s all about gloss and glitters… To add the spark to your eyes, you don’t have to buy a box of makeup glitter separately… Anyways we really don’t get that much time to apply liner and then apply glitter on it… Isn’t it…??

Let’s drop our old liners and get our hands on this sparkling black kajal… Let’s get to know it better… What’s say??

Brand :

Rimmel London

Kajal Name:

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal

What Product Claims:

Shades available :

  • Sparkling Black
  • Black
  • Brown

Shade Name :

Sparkling Black

Price:

345 INR 1.2 g

Shelf Life:

3 years

Packing :

This comes in typical pencil form. A sparkling black pencil to be precise. Need to keep sharpener handy.

The cap is tight. Sooo tight at first that, I had to put all my energy to open it. But, unfortunately I ended up breaking the tip. You will get to know ‘why’ in texture section below.

Texture :

It’s creamy soft. Glides smoothly on waterline.

Color payoff :

This is a black shade. Not the deepest of black. What I love the most is these tiny sparkling particles.

At first, I wasn’t really happy with the amount of sparkle it added to my eyes. But after it got settled on my eyes, the shine was amazing.. Got compliments for that shine too… #blushing

Does this smudge:

Let’s accept this fact that there is no kajal or liner, that doesn’t smudge. Goal is to find a kajal which smudges less. This one just right to serve this purpose…

It smudges very less. Usually I have to bug my friends at office to keep a check on my kajal whenever I don’t get a mirror. Yes I do. They laugh at me but they help me to know whether it’s smudged or not. #typicalgal

Staying power:

Stayed for 6 to 7 hours with a bit of smudging.

Can we use this as eyeliner :

Yes. I did apply this on both on eyelids as liner and on waterline as kajal. It look amazing…

What I like :

  • Color payoff with sparkling black. I loved it.
  • Smudges less.
  • Glides smoothly
  • Affordable.
  • Available online. Hence availability is not an issue.
  • Travel friendly.

What I don’t like :

  • It could have been retractable pencil packing. Because while you sharpen the pencil, you do end up wasting some product.
  • As the product claims its not Waterproof, sweat proof, heat proof etc. It does smudge.

Watch the Video of Garnier Cleansing Water Review

Hey,

You know what is the time consuming or most boring and challenging task of the day for a makeup enthusiast…??? 🤔

Na… Not applying makeup… We love it… It’s removing makeup. Because we know we can hit the bed with our makeup on. It breaks our skin. Hence makeup removal is must but it’s time consuming and borrring. Especially when it comes to removing your eye makeup after a hectic day at office or after a great party. When all you want is to go to sleep.

Well, I have found a quick solution for it. Wanna know how I end my day on a easy breezy note??? Check it out… My new found love…

Brand:

Garnier

Product :

Cleansing water

Price:

175 INR for 125 ml

DSCN0661

Shelf life:

36 months

Ingredients :

DSCN0662

What product claims :

DSCN0666

How to use:

Check the video below where I have demonstrated how to use it. You can also see the effectiveness of cleaning water here.

Packing :

Comes in a sturdy and transparent plastic bottle. The transparency is helpful to keep a check on the product quantity inside the bottle.

The pink cap is a flip one. Which makes taking out cleanser on cotton pad easy.

Bottle is tiny and strong enough to carry in our travel bag. No worries of any spillage.

Texture :

It’s like water.

Fragrance :

It is colorless as well as odor less.

DSCN0665

Targeted skin type:

All types including sensitive skin.

My take :

The other day I saw this cleanser In one of my favorite shops, where I go for random shoppings. Thought of trying this cute little pinky pinky bottle. So picked it up.

Removal of Kajal and mascara is bit time consuming. Plus, it has to be neatly cleaned with gentle strokes. Because gal, eyelashes are precious. Right??

So, I took a cotton pad and applied cleanser to it. Dabbed the cotton pad on my eyes and swiped it gently with couple of strokes. Woo… Most of the kajal and mascara were on the cotton pad.

I can’t say it will remove whole makeup in one swipe. It takes minimum two to three swipes for a clearer skin around eyes.

It did clean my eye makeup and didn’t burn or dried the delicate skin around eyes.

DSCN0664

Will I Repurchase???

Yes. I think it’s a good deal for the little amount we are paying. Little amount of cleanser goes long way. Thus this bottle is gonna last for minimum one month. Hence I’m gonna buy it again.

Will I recommend???

Yes. Especially those gals who feel like a panda at the end of the day. Lazy to remove makeup. Lazy to wash face. This one is for you. Keep this near your bed.

List of Best Cosmetics, Along With Best Makeup Tips

Hey,

Diwali is just around the corner, you can find a lot of makeup, beauty and health tips in mygirlypedia.com soon….

So let me begin with a list of affordable yet the best makeup products as per different skin types.

If you are new to the world of makeup, no worries…!!! I have links for the posts which I had written earlier about details of these products.  Like how to apply, why we use. Sounds cool???

Let’s start the list to know the products that suits your skin types and needs.

If you wish to buy them, I have provided online link as well.

Primer :

For every skin type –

I would suggest one from L’Oreal Paris, Base Magique.

wp-1508236512296..jpg

Foundation :

Are you thinking whether to use it or not? Have doubts about how to apply? Allll your queries regarding foundation will be solved here.

Normal skin –

‘Fit me’ range from Maybelline is good with maximum coverage. Plus, it has many shade options which means almost everyone gets their ideal foundation.

Oily skin –

Tea tree BB cream from The Body Shop is good with medium coverage. Tea tree is proven to be good for sensitive skin.

Dry skin-

everything comes with pros and cons. Bad news is you will have to invest in good moisturizer. Best part is once you are done with applying moisturizer, you are good to use any of the foundation.

But still if you ask any particular suggestion, I would say ponds CC cream is ideal for dry skin. It’s moisturizing and covers all pigmentation and marks.

wp-1508236511736..jpg

Concealer:

You know why the Concealer is a must??? Check this post to know everything about Concealer.

Lakme concealer is been the best one so far. It’s creamy and gives you a perfect glow by hiding all the unevenness of skin. SPF is one more added benefit of this product.

Face powder:

Normal and Oily –

Face powder from Revlon, Faces is good. It doesn’t feel caked up. They are light and many shades available too.

wp-1508236512001..jpg

Dry skin –

I personally feel dry skin beauties should avoid face powder because it absorbs oiliness and makes skin more dry.

Lipstick :

Moisturizing –

Elle 18 has one of the best moisturizing and super affordable lipsticks. There are 18+ shades to chose from. Starting from INR 100.

Matte –

Chambor Matte lipstick (You can check full review here.)

Also colorbar has some amazing shades of matte finish lipsticks,  priced 300+ INR.

wp-1508236512549..jpg

Lip gloss :

Maybelline has some very nice glosses. (Check the review here.)

Eyeshadow :

Buy Maybelline n*de eyeshadow pallet. They have multiple pallets to choose from. Soft colors to metallic colors… They have all…

Check the colors for yourself here.

Blush :

I liked the Blush from Maybelline. It’s super pigmented with affordable price.

You can also use your lipstick as your eyeshadow or Blush…!!! I do so. It’s super handy. You don’thave to go and look out a matching eyeshadow or Blush. But you save money. #yeahhh

Kajal / Eyeliner :

I love this Hyper glossy liquid eyeliner from Maybelline. Pigmentation, longitivity and price both are super cool. I have posted my whole experience here. I have posted my whole experience here.

If you are fond of eye makeup and want any help, this post is for you.

Mascara :

I have used mascara from multiple brands. But for me, one from Oriflame has been the best. It’s dark pigment and the applicator wand makes it an ideal one.

These are the products which are in my ‘good book’… You can find the online shopping links for each product below…

How to Prepare Kajal or Kohl at Home

Hey,

I had a busy week… I shifted to new place… Busy decorating my home… I will share some home decorating ideas soon on mygirlypedia…

You know I’m passionate about cosmetics and makeup, ummm in short all girly stuff in the world… I at least apply a stroke of Kajal before stepping out of home. Reread at least…

So being an eye makeup lover,I love that smoky look. Most of us do… But I have also seen gals who are allergic to kajal which we get in market. Their eyes get irritated and they are left with teary eyes after applying kajal. So this post is especially for those delicate eyed beauties.

Today, I will share tips to prepare couple of kajal or kohl of your own at home. Sounds interesting… Right??? And guess what, it’s super safe and pocket friendly… Shall we start???

Castor oil Kohl:

Things you need:

Castor oil

Diya

Metal Plate

Two metal boxes

A tiny container to store kohl

How to prepare :

  • Place two metal boxes upside down. These will act as a support for the metal plate.
  • Place metal plate on these boxes as shown below.

  • Fill diya with Castor oil and light the diya and keep it below the plate.
  • As the diya burns, the ash layer gets formed in the plate.

  • Once the diya turns off, carefully take the hot plate.
  • Remove the ash layer and mix a spoon of ghee to form the paste.

  • This is a pure kohl. Store the kohl in a container and use whenever you want to… #wink

Almond khol

Things required :

Almond (of course)

Needle

Matchbox

Metal plate

Two metal boxes

Container to store the kohl.

How to prepare :

  • Like previously mentioned, place metal plate on two metal boxes for support.
  • Pin the needle in the almond.
  • Using matchbox, light the almond.
  • Almond has natural oils in it which helps in burning.
  • Keep in below the metal plate so that ash gets trapped in plate.

  • Once done, collect the ash from plate and mix ghee to prepare kohl.
  • Store it in container to use it whenever required.

Hope you found this useful.

Do prepare it and enjoy safe, irritation free, cooling effect kohl…!!!

Thing You Need to Know About False Eyelashes

Hello,

Have you ever heard of fake eyelashes??? Today I have post for you, with all the information about them. Read on to know more.

What are false eye lashes???
As the name suggests, these are the unnatural lashes which can be used to get  fuller/thicker eyelashes look.

10pairs-100-Handmade-Beauty-Tools-False-Eyelashes-Winged-Long-Fake-Eye-Lashes-Eyelash-Makeup-Accessoriesfake-maquiagem

Huge varieties of false eye lashes available in the market. They differ in length, volume and usability types. Also, there are individual lashes and colored lashes available in market.

Individual lashes takes lot of time as you need to set them one by one.

How_To_Apply_False_Eyelashes

There are tools which are used for easy application of lashes. You must be wondering how to attach the lashes. There are many eye lash glues available which helps in keeping the eyelashes in place.

You must be wondering what these are made up of??
They are made of Mink, synthetic filaments and silk..!!

How to apply false lashes???
1. Apply makeup first. Applying false lashes should be the last step.
2. Prepare the eyelids by applying primer and make sure the surface is dry. We cant stick the eye lashes on oily base.
3. Bend the false lashes inwards softly, in C shape. This makes further process easier.
4. Keep the eye lashes over the upper eye lids and cut the false lashes as per your eyelid length.

5. Apply eye lash glue over the line or over lash line as shown below.

anigif_enhanced-27007-1460038511-2
6. Remove the excess glue.
7. Place the falsies over eyelids with the help of tools or bare fingers and press it gently.

IMG_5071
8. Leave for couple of minutes.
9. Once it gets attached, use mascara over the eye lashes. This makes the natural and the false one look the same.
10. You can also apply liquid eye liner over the lash line to complete the look.

How to Remove False Lashes???

ntemakigiaz-mation-ediva.gr_
1. You have to use oil free makeup remover to remove the lashes.
2. Apply a stroke of makeup remover with the help of cotton/ ear buds and let it fall on its own. Don’t freak out. It takes a minute or so.

How to Take Care of Falsies???
There are use and throw eye lashes available. Which are meant for one time use only.

There are other false eye lashes which can be used couple of times.
1. If mascara was applied, clean them with oil free makeup remover and place them in clean dry box.

Use-a-Bowl-to-Clean-False-Eyelashes
2. If mascara was not used, remove them with the help of tweezers and remover excess glue. You can dip them in warm water too to clean them. Place the dried eye lashes in their tiny cases.

Dos and Don’t s for false eyelashes:
1. You can’t touch eyes frequently when false lashes are on your lids.
2. They are surprisingly not waterproof. So avoid wearing false eyelashes to pool parties. And of course on occasions where you know you are gonna cry.

2a55a63000000578-3153435-image-a-37_1436356876794.jpg
3. While choosing the adhesiveness, don’t forget to read the ingredients. There might be some content which might not suit you.
4. Be gentle while removing the lashes. Do not pull.
5. Maintain good hygiene. Clean them thoroughly before storing them back.

It takes lots of practice and patience to be a pro in using these lashes. If you really want this look for a specific special occasion then try it out. Or can also consult someone who is well versed with it.

Hope you enjoyed reading the post.

A Lazy Girl’s Guide to Beauty

Hey,

I spend ample amount of time taking care of skin… I am kind of obsessed. I love doing it. After all self love is must. Isn’t it???

There are many of my friends who wants to improve the skin texture but too lazy to do all the rituals. No worries. Today I am gonna share some super lazy tips which you can afford to do,  to achieve good skin.

Read on,  if you are one among those pandas.

  • Cleansing

I know it’s not your type to go and look for a cleanser for your skin type and blah blah blah. So all you need to do is, keep wet wipes next to your bed. Just pull one out and clean your face before sleeping. Removing impurities /dust/makeup is a must.

  • Moisturizer

Na I won’t bother you by explaining toner and stuff. Just apply a layer of good moisturizer before ending your day. No matter what skin type you are blessed with, a good moisturizer is a must.

  • Hydration

You must have heard a lot that we need to drink lots of water. Yes we need to. This will keep body mind and Skin healthy.

  • Vitamins

If you are too lazy to follow good diet or beauty steps, consume vitamin supplements. But yes, you have to take an extra effort to meet a good doctor before consuming.

  • Lip care

I know lip scrub or primer are not in your world. Haha but we need to scrub lips to get rid of those chapped surface. Ummm how will I do it??? Simple.. Just gently brush your lips after brushing your teeth with the help of toothbrush.

  • Makeup

Foundation concealer etc might sound like rocket science for some girls.  So I will tell you simpler makeup tips.

  • Eyes

Kajal..!!!  A stroke of Kajal we need to conquer the world. If you want to know how much kajal means to us, check this.

  • Smudged Kajal Look

Apply kajal before going to bed. You will have naturally smudged eye makeup look the next morning.  But avoid doing it everyday. As sleeping with eye makeup on is not recommended on daily basis.

  • Lips

Apply a good lipstick or a tinted lip balm. You are good to go.

  • Face

If you are a dry skinned beauty, dab some moisturizer before applying a day cream. If cream has SPA/SPF content, it’s added benefit.

  • Lazy to apply body lotion?

Drop few drops of essential oils to the bathing water. This will take care of body moisture after bath.

  • Hair wash!!!

Too lazy to wash hair???  No worries…  Dry shampoos are your Angeles.

  • Hair style

Tie hair in a bunch before hitting the bed. You will wake up with nice wavy hair in the morning.

  • Excess sweat

Keep tissue papers handy. You don’t have to go shopping for product to solve this problem. Just pat a tissue paper on your oily zone and and you are good to go as the tissue absorbs all the sweat.

I hope these tips will transform you from

“This gal is pretty lazy”

To

“This lazy gal is pretty ”

wink

Easy way to do Winged eyeliner…!!!

Hey my beautiful readers…

How is the day treating you all..???

I don’t feel I am perfect at drawing perfect winged eye liner but , would love to share my tried and tested tips with you guys. I will be glad if you find them useful.

So, today I will be sharing some of the tips I follow while creating winged eye liner look.

You must have heard saying “Do not ask a girl with winged liner, why she is late…!!!”  wink Yes, it is an art… but not a rocket science for sure…  Practice makes you perfect.

Let’s get started then…

I have classified it into 3 steps.

  1. Preparing eye lids:

To begin with, we need to prepare the base. Most of us are blessed with the oily lids. Oily lids make the liner smudge bit fast. Hence, we need to make eye lids oil proof in order to make our liner last longer.

For this, you need a good Eye Primer. It evens out skin tone, absorbs oil and prepares the base.

If you do not have one, don’t worry… Even setting powder will do the job. You can use any setting powder of your choice, which matches your skin tone.

You might find this link useful to find a perfect setting powder for you.

Prepare your eye lids by applying setting powder on them.

1

  1. Drawing the liner along the eye lash line.

Most of you guys, especially the beginners find it really difficult to draw line along the eyelash line. Let me make this step a bit easier one. All of you guys have must played ‘connecting the dots’ game at some point of time in your life. So, lets bring back that memory here. laugh

Draw dots over the eyelids along the eye lash line.

2

Now just connect them.

3

Phewww…!!! Done with the tricky part… right..??

  1. Drawing the wing:

You must have loads of cards, like debit/ credit/ shopping etc. Pick one of them. Place the card in such a way that, the end of your eye brow and corner of your eye are in a straight line as shown below.

4

Draw a line starting from the eye’s corner towards eyebrow end along the side of the card. Length of the line is totally of your choice. I prefer a small wing. If you guys want to try dramatic long wing look, draw a bit long line.

5

Now, drawing the triangle.

Draw a line from the eye lash line (which you drew in the previous step), to the tip of the line drawn using the card few minutes back to draw a triangle.

6

Fill in the triangle.

7

Wow…!!! You are done drawing winged liner…!!!  good job

8

Couple of mascara swipe, and you are ready… 🙂

Some more tips I would like to mention:

  1. For beginners, I would suggest using gel eyeliners. Once you get used to drawing lines perfectly, you can start using liquid eye liners. Handling liquid eye liners is a tricky part since they are runny.
  2. Do not leave any gap while drawing line along eye lash line on the lid.
  3. Keep ear buds handy to erase the tiny mistakes that tend to happen while drawing lines.
  4. Most important, do not lose patience/ hope. Even I am not so perfect. It needs a lot of practice to be a pro.
  5. You can apply kajal to the water line.
  6. Applying white/ n**e eye liners on the water line will give you a fresh eye look.

Did you find this helpful???

Do try and let me know your experience.

Happy weekend you guys…!!!!

Pallavi ❤
