All You Need to Know About Facial Gua Sha Tool

What is a Gua Sha tool?
It’s a traditional Chinese medicine tool used to scrape body skin. Facial gua sha is a modified version of it.

How does it works?
It is targeting a stagnant energy in the body, that is the cause for inflammation. Rubbing the tool against the skin helps in breaking this energy, reduce inflammation and thus promotes healing. It also helps in blood circulation.
It was also believed that it helps in getting rid of body heat and negative energy.

What are they made of?
Authentic Gua sha are made of natural materials like, gem stones, animal bone, animal horn etc. Mostly used Gua sha are made of jade or rose quartz or mineral rich stone and shaped in order to fit the contours of face.

However, unlike Jade roller, Gua sha is not about the contact of the stone with skin. It’s about right scraping techniques.

What do you need to use this technique?
Firstly, a gua sha tool. Your favourite skin care product. Be it mist, serum or cream.
Apply the product before using the tool.

How to use it?
With gentle strokes, massage your face with the tool, while applying light to medium pressure. Use the flat surface more than the edge.

Order of massage would be:
1. Neck
2. Jaw line
3. Under eye are
4. Nose bridge
5. Brow bone
6. Forehead

Can we use it daily?
Professionals recommend three times a week for around 15 minutes.

Benefits:
1. Upward strokes helps in lifting and firming the skin.
2. Increased blood flow.
3. Removes stagnant lymph from tissue. This helps in reducing puffiness.
4. With regular use, reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
5. Reduces tension in face, neck and shoulder.
6. Helps in better absorption of the products.

Special Tips:
1. Always apply a cream or oil before using Gua sha. Using the tool on dry surface causes more friction and thus cause more damage to skin.
2. If you have inflammation or pimples or open wound, do not use the tool on them. Use it round them.
3. If you have sunburn, do not use the tool.
4. If you use retinol or any chemical exfoliation, you should be extra cautious while using the tool.
5. Make sure you apply little pressure. If you apply more pressure than needed, this can result in skin breakage.
6. Be careful with the edges. If the tool has any damage and has sharp edge, please get rid of the tool immediately.

Well, my pretty reader – since we are in a very new year, we all are energised, happy and hopeful for something good this year. Let’s take some steps to achieve the best of ourselves. Sounds good??? Cool. Lets do this.

I have a post for you today which will list down all the small yet good steps which we need to take in order to get the awesome results. You know you are not too old to dream a new dream and to set a new goal for yourself. right???  Try to include these steps  everyday. Come on, theses are very simple. You can do it. Or, let me rephrase it as – ‘We’  can do it.

Shall we start???

Health comes first. Lets start with easy breezy steps to improve health.

Physical Health Tips:

  • Drink more water.( Don’t yawn plz. I know you have been reading this a lot. Its time to practice it)
  • Eat healthy. (Stop yawning)
  • Instead of asking you to eliminate junk food from your diet, let me put it this way. Lets challenge ourselves not to eat junk food for 2 days, then eventually increase that to a week, a month. I  myself a huge junk food addict. I have made my mind to train it by accepting such challenges. Hello, if I win??? I am gonna treat myself with some junk food. haha that is how we treat an addict.
  • Start your day with a glass of warm water and honey.
  • Are you a chocolate lover like me??? I am replacing my chocolates with dark chocolates. Because dark chocolates with more than 70% cocoa have more antioxidants. Are you with me in this ‘mission dark chocolate’???
  • Exercise. I am not asking you to pay for gym membership. We can do it right from where we are sitting. Just stretching, some leg exercises while you are seated on your chair, instead of taking elevator take stairs. I personally prefer stairs not only because its an easy workout, but its less crowded, peaceful and you get to breath some fresh air unlike in an elevator(you know what I mean).
  • Chew your food. Haha it sounds like a strict mommy’s dialogue. But jokes apart gal, we need to chew our food properly in order to ease the digestion process and to get more benefits from the food.
  • Brush your teeth twice daily. Oral health is very important. We tend to neglect that which results in bad breath and poor teeth condition. When all is good, we don’t get it. But when you suffer from teeth ache, then you realise all the bad things you did to your teeth. #karma haha
  • While Brushing, you can do some squats to utilize that time. Time saving huun??

Mental Health:

If you agree or not, most of us are hesitant and ignorant about mental happiness. Let’s not make that mistake this year. Because everything starts and ends at your mental health. If you are mentally fit, it will reflect in your physical health.

  • Make some time for yourself. Spend it on doing what you like. Be it self care, any hobby, cooking any thing.
  • Take a walk outside. Observe the world around you. When you are feeling low, even a small ant can be inspiring enough to lift you up. Ant falls while carrying a food particle which is much more bigger than it’s own size. But ant never gives up.
  • Spend time with old citizens, kids or pets. They help you forget all the stress.
  • Compliment or help some unknown people. Try it. You will know that kind of happiness.
  • Dance to your favorite music. You don’t have to be a professional dancer to enjoy the music. Just move your body to the beats(or off beats) the point is to enjoy it.
  • Sing. You are not participating in any music competition. There are no judges. Even if the people around you is trying to judge you, just ask them one question – what is the winning amount ??? #wink
  • Stressed??? I have a quick solution – Breath…!!!
  • Plan a vacation with loved ones. Be it a little one or big plan. Do it.
  • As they say there is always good in a bad day. Write down things you are thankful for at the end of the day.
  • Reduce the time you spend in the virtual world of social media.
  • Importantly – Smilllleeeee…..!!!!

  • Take care of your skin.
  • Irrespective of weather, do not skip sunscreen.
  • Never go to bed with your makeup on. Plz.
  • I know we love our girl-friends. But plz stop sharing your makeup with them. You are not doing any good to yourself or to them. Sharing used makeup can harm your skin more.
  • Do not compromise on the products you use for your skin.
  • Maintain good hygiene to maintain good skin.
  • Clean your phone screen. It has maximum number of bacteria which can harm your skin.
  • Good sleep is a must.
  • You deserve a spa session at least once a month. You don’t have to make a hole in pocket by booking an appointment in a well known spa. You just make use of the ‘search’ box at the end of this page and get to know how to do facial, bath salts for that long relaxing bath, hair spa etc. at home…!!!
  • Most important tip – love yourself. You are an original creation. Do not try to imitate and be a copy.

L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Mask for Oily Skin

L’Oreal has introduced two face masks lately. The pure clay masks…!!! I was very fascinated by the masks, the very moment I saw them on social media. I had to try them out.

The two clay masks address two different skin needs. So the masks which are available in Indian market are-

  1. L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Mask – Purify and Mattify

  2. L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Mask – Exfoliate and Refine Pores

If you have oily skin, go for first one. That will absorb oil and give matte look to your skin.

If you have dry skin, opt for second. That will help in exfoliation and purification if pores from within.

The combination skinned beauties can opt for multitasking. That is applying first one over oily T zone and applying second one over dried area.

I have normal to oily skin. So I picked up the first mask, ‘L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Mask – Purify and Mattify’

The outer cartoon has all the details of the product you need to know.

The mask comes in a sturdy glass tub. The glass is really of good quality. I have done it’s testing. ( You know how #wink)

The glass is a bit heavy compared to its size. So it’s not that easy breezy type bottle to carry. But you don’t have to worry about spilling, as it has good quality cap and one more plastic coverage inside.

Color :

This mask is light pistachio green colored one.

Texture :

It’s creamy. But it’s neither greasy nor oily.

Fragrance :

It has strong smell of flavored clay. It might be due to the added perfume in it.

My experience with L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Mask – Purify and Mattify:

As written on the outer cover, I applied the mask on my face post cleansing. The fragrance was a bit empowering initially, but it was bearable. The mask had kind of cooling effect and I didn’t feel heavy when it was on.

It starts to dry after ten to fifteen minutes. After washing it off with water, I could see some visible difference. It actually left my skin clean and the oiliness was gone. It didn’t improve my skin tone or lighten the spots. Anyway that wasn’t claimed by L’Oreal too…!!

But the glow was not long lasting. The glow lasts for 3 to 4 hours for me. #sob Again, it totally depends on individual skin types. I use it two to three times in a week. It has improved my skin in terms of controlling oiliness.

Let me sum up my likes and dislikes about this purchase of mine.

Likes:

  1. Sturdy packing.

  2. Did what it claimed. Helped in controlling oiliness.

  3. Easily available over net. I purchased it from Nykaa.

  4. Little quantity is enough. So this will last quite long.

  5. Did not break me out. Did not cause any side effects like pimples or something.

Dislikes:

  1. Contains paraben.

  2. Glow it gives, doesn’t lasts long.

  3. Fragrance might irritate sensitive nosed gals.

Will I repurchase??

Yes.

Will I recommend??

Yes I would recommend this to oily skinned beauties. It did work on my skin. I hope it does on yours too.

How to Do Facial at Home

Hey beautiful, 

There are multiple beauty treatments available out there…  Facial is one of the famous one. You might have even tried it before. But, I an gonna share a quick post today about facial at home.  That will definitely help you to do less chemical facial with no much damage to your budget. 


What is facial??? 
A beauty treatment which involves steam, exfoliation, extraction, face mask and face massage. It’s done to rejuvenate skin and get a nice glow. 

Steps Involved 

Step 1

Cleansing 


We don’t want to start with a dirty base right. Let’s remove all the dust/makeup and start preparing the skin. Use a good cleanser of your choice to cleanse the face and neck. 
Step 2

Exfoliate


Lets remove those dead skin cells from your face and neck to get smoother skin. 
You can use Natural scrub made up of brown sugar and essential oil, if you have dry skin. Or simply use the paste made up of brown sugar / coffee powder and water if you have normal to dry skin. 

Please be very gentle while scrubbing. Over exfoliation is never recommended. 

Step 3

Steaming 

In order to open facial pores, let’s enjoy some steam. All you need to do is, boil water and take the steam by facing the bowl and covering head with a towel. You can add some drops of essential oils to water to enjoy even more. 
Step 4

Face Pack


Now that the pores are open, let’s apply face mask to get most of the benefits. You can choose face mask of your own choice depending on the skin needs. Some recommendations for extreme skin types,  
Oily skin – fuller earth + water

Dry skin – any fruit mask

Some people opt for peel off masks. I don’t recommend it personally. Because since you have already done with exfoliation, it will result in over exfoliation.

Step 5

Toning 

After a good amount of time, wash off the face pack. Now let’s close the open pores and seal the goodness of face pack in there. In order to do that, opt for a good toner and apply it all over your face and neck with the help of cotton pads. The best toner recommend is rose water…!!!

Step 6

Moisturize


Now that we are done with sealing the pores, let’s layer them with a good amount of moisturizer for that extra nourishment. You can chose oil based moisturizer, if you have dry skin. Or water based, if you have normal to oily skin. 
You are done with home facial now…!!!
