Live Life Queen Size Says Bala Girl aka Chic Maharani

Let me start with my memories or first experience with people who are a part of LGBT community, that is transgenders. As a kid I remember I feared transgender. Because when you are kid, you see everything with your curious eyes. You tend to believe what you are told. I don’t remember who told me this, but I was told that they are bad people and cursed to be the way they are. But my idea about them changed when I actually met and spoke to them. Once I was travelling in a train with my parents and we came across some transgender women who were our co-passengers. They were so warm; they even offered us their seats. That made me realize that they are not the cursed or the bad ones, but the ones who lie about them and make us believe those lies are.

#377 was trending last year. Section 377 according to which se*ual activities against the order of nature was illegal. It was a joyful day for many souls out there. Who are ‘different’ from the ‘normal’. We saw so many people posting their stories, pictures of people who had happy tears. They were finally free to be who they are, free to love.

My Facebook feed was flooded with people changing their display pictures to rainbow colored one. (I am sure your feed was also colorful while 377 was removed.) Everyone out there were posting and sharing “Love is love”. But I want to tell you, sharing the slogans or changing the display pictures is not going to change much to LGBT community. Accepting the fact that “A human is a human irrespective of their choice of living” is something will do.

Mygirlypedia came across one of these beautiful souls while scrolling through the Instagram feed. Ms. Krishnan Balaji (Bala).

“I was in class 6 when I realised I was different. I was drawn towards ‘girly’ things–I never played sports & hung out with girls. People began making fun of my behaviour, gestures & my walk. They would even shout out, ‘Homo!’ I didn’t even know what that meant. I’d lock myself up & cry all day. I was even sexually harassed by a 50 year old man & in 12th grade, my best friend said, ‘I’m from a decent family & can’t be friends with you’. I was shattered! By the time I reached college I’d lost all my self-esteem. I suppressed that part of me & lied to people. I even had a friend pretend to be my girlfriend. I lived in fear of the world. It pushed me to the edge & I tried killing myself. But a friend stopped me, & asked why I gave those who didn’t care for me so much importance? That changed my life. From then on, I was unashamedly myself. My daily life was still a battle. I was called names & people pelted stones at my window. When I stayed in a PG, my roommate saw me & moved to another room. He told everyone I was gay & that it was a disease. But, I found immense support too. The editor at my earlier job, was so helpful. He took me to events where I met people like me! For the first time, I wasn’t alone. I even met a makeup artist who inspired me to explore makeup & crossdressing. My mom was another pillar of strength. Once, a relative told her to take me to a doctor. My mom bluntly told her to not call again! That’s when I gave crossdressing a chance. I remember going to buy lipstick & when I told the salesman that it was for myself, his eyes popped out! But I didn’t care–I was going to be who I wanted to be, proudly. Our society has stereotypes that only girls wear pink or only guys can gym. I want people to know it’s okay to choose your happiness over everyone else's, to fall in love with who you are & not care about ‘what people will say’. Live for yourself, not for anyone else & walk with your head held high. You owe it to yourself to own who you are!” — HoB with Amazon Prime Video India brings to you the real stories of people which showcases the good, the bad & the ugly–all that is a part of the chaos of life, through their new show #MadeInHeaven

What caught my eyes was the way she carries herself, so gracefully. Being a girly girl myself, I must say she carries herself way better than many of the girls out there. Those neck pieces, bangles, anklets look so pretty on her. Needless to say she looks her best in that smudged kajal and bindi look. That’s the way she is – graceful and classy.

I had read about certain things like a beautiful soul trapped inside a wrong body. When you look at the beautiful pictures of this beautiful soul, even you will find that’s true. It’s a beautiful soul of a woman inside a man’s body.

Mygirlypedia got a privilege to interview this kind woman. Hop in to know more about Bala, her life, struggles she went through, her dreams, her love for makeup and dressing up etc.

Mygirlypedia : Tell me about yourself, what do you do for living.

Bala : I am a PR manager and work for celebrities that’s my bread and butter. Apart from that I’m a gender activist and gave TEDx talk last year. I’m fighting to break the gender stereotypes. Because our society has some barriers like there are certain things which only men can do and set of things only women can. That’s what I want to break through.

I even get invitations from principals of schools to come and conduct LGBT workshops for 6th, 7th and 8th standard students. It’s about how to save yourself from bullies. How to stay strong.

Mygirlypedia : Tell me about your family

Bala : I have an elder brother who is in abroad. He hasn’t accepted me yet. Mom supports me a lot. Dad doesn’t as we belong to orthodox family.

But they are happy with me, my achievements. I think somewhere I have also given them a lot of time to think about these things. They belong to different generation and they do need time to accept.

A small and happy go family.

Mygirlypedia : How was your childhood

Bala : My childhood has been a roller coaster ride for me, loads of ups and downs.

I used to mingle more with girls than boys and not in to sports (again a gender stereotype that a boy should actively take part in sports.). At that tender age, I did not understand all these things.

When I realized that I am different, people didn’t believe me. They used to shout at me, tease me by shouting homo. Some used to even bash me verbally. They used to abuse me.

What hurt me more was losing one of my male best friends. He didn’t receive my calls initially and one fine day he ended our friendship by saying that he cannot accept me the way I am as it is against his religious believes.

I went into depression while I was in college. At some point of time I used to take 5-6 anti depressants in a day. I even took sick leave for a month. Once I came back, even after knowing what I went through, people were not kind to me. They even refused to help me with the academics/ classes I missed. It was a rough phase of my life.

These things made me start thinking – why me? Why am I different? Why everyone is taking advantage of my situation? Why everyone is taking advantage of my silence??

With absolutely no support from anyone, all the bullies around in college – I lost the purpose of life and I wanted to end my life.

But I owe my life to theses angels whom I proudly call my dear friends – Shruthi, Arundati, Rashmika. They said “Bala, why do you want to commit suicide? Why can’t you live for the ones who love you??? To whom you matter a lot. Why are you giving so much importance to your haters that you want to end your life?” That made me realize what I was going to do..!!! That stopped me from losing this precious life.

Mygirlypedia : When did you realize about your real self?

Bala : After college, I started working for a magazine at Delhi. I met this huge community of people who are like me. That is where I realized I am as beautiful as everyone around. I found the purpose for life. That is where my new life started. I realized I am here to spread love. I learnt to live for others which in turn gave lot of happiness. I don’t miss the pride parades. I walk every year for those who are still living inside the closet.

Mygirlypedia : What was that one push that made you gather the courage to open up about yourself?

Bala : Namrata Soni (celebrity makeup artist and my best friend), whom I met during a makeup master class. I told her once “Namrata, I am scared of applying kajal/ lipstick”. She said one sentence which motivates me every time. “Bala, not everyone is going to accept you. You should be yourself and stop caring what others think”. That moment made me brave enough to take major step towards being myself. Then I started buying cosmetics for myself.

(I personally feel, she looks so pretty with kajal. That south Indian look is so graceful. )

Mygirlypedia : Who was the first person with whom you spoke about it?

Bala : I think it is Nishara from college. Then I spoke to my friends Rashmika, Shruthi (because of whom I am still alive).

Mygirlypedia : What was your parent’s reaction?

Bala : Dad and brother couldn’t accept the fact. They are taking their time to absorb things.

Mom, she took time too to accept. Even though she doesn’t really talk about it openly but she somewhere understands me. We even share cosmetics now.

Mygirlypedia : Who is your support system?

Bala : I have a lot of straight friends who are my support system. I got some amazing friends at every phase of my life. Be it college be it office. Here are some of the gems I have:

Shruthi, Rashmika, Arundati, Aparna, Naina, Shavya, Nora, Shikha Dutt, Dharini Mishra, Divya Dhillon, Tasnim Ahmed, Jasmine Ahmed, Bhawna Gupta maa, Aher Abheena maa, Padma Iyer amma, Namrata Soni, Anaita Shroff, Vivek Giri, Ayush Joshi and Rishabh Singh.

Mygirlypedia : How do you handle the strange stares of people or how do you feel when people treat you differently in public places?

Bala : There are people who still make fun of me when I go out. Some have even misused my pictures to post on certain websites. I used to feel bad but not anymore.

Now I just turn back and give them a very gentle smile and say “People who make fun of others are not cable of achieving anything. You make fun of me because you don’t have the capacity to do what I am doing, living the life I want to. I am brave enough and go out and help people in need, which you cannot”

Mygirlypedia : What’s the best part of being new or the real you?

Bala : Se*y. I feel like that real chic Maharani (queen). (That’s the trendy name I have given for myself.)

Mygirlypedia : What would be one piece of advice you would like to give to following people:

Mygirlypedia : To people who are still living inside the closet:

Bala : Wait for the right time. Be independent. Because when you are dependent on your parents, you won’t be having much point to justify. Once you are independent, justification becomes meaningful  and convincing them would be easier. I also empathize and I stand with them.

Mygirlypedia : To bullies:

Bala : If you bully someone, please be ready to face karma. Because, karma is strong. Even if I forgive, karma won’t.  Tomorrow someone else will bully you for something. It shows your capability, it shows you are not capable of doing anything other than bullying. Karma is waiting to make you feel the same way you made us feel.

Today many of my college mates who had bullied me, asked sorry. But I am somehow not able to forgive them for the trauma they made me go through. For the way they treated me, sorry means nothing now.

Mygirlypedia : To Those Who Are Getting Bullied:

Bala : If you are getting bullied for being different, just stand firm and turn back. Make fun of the bullies for being the same.

Mygirlypedia  : People with misconceptions about gay people, like some even feel being different is something to do with mental illness:

Bala : I remember one of my roommates from a PG, in Delhi. We had joint bed. The second day, he separated his bed from mine. On the third day, he shifted his bed to another room. The next day he shifted to other room with all his stuffs. People are narrow minded.

To those educated and yet narrow minded people out there, I want to tell you – we all are same. Even we have red blood just like you. There is nothing to feel ashamed or feel bad about us. Break your brain and come out of that nutshell.

Feeling complete!!! 💫✨🔥💥😇

A post shared by Balaji (@queeromania) on

Mygirlypedia : To your younger self:

Bala : That Bala is no more. That Bala is dead. I don’t want to remember that Bala. Because he is no more. This is a new Bala. I have taken a rebirth I would say.

Mygirlypedia : To all those people who love you:

Bala : I don’t want to say anything. I just want to give them a big bomb hug, a big fat bear hug. No matter what, I will always be with you guys till my last breath. Because of you I am here. I owe my life, my success to them. They are the best. They understand me inside out.

Mygirlypedia : What improvements would you like to see happen for LGBT community in India?

Bala : For LGBT community improvement, we need support from parents to come out of the closet and live a free life. One of my friends, who is a transgender, gets life threatening calls from her own brother. Think about how hurt she must be. 10 years somewhere down the line, I want to see all the parents giving a big warm hug to their children and  accept them.

Mygirlypedia : Tell me about power of love that you believe in:

Bala : Love is powerful. Love has different forms. Love of a mother and the child, which is the purest, love of a brother, a friend. I have so many friends who love me, who understand and support me.

Love has nothing do with gender, love is pure and transparent.  Accept it when it is true.

Mygirlypedia : What according to you makes a man attractive?

Bala : (Blushes) His heart, his qualities, transparent nature, down to earth nature, respectable attitude towards everyone makes him attractive. I get attracted to guys with kind heart.

Mygirlypedia : Tell me about what your dream boy would be like.

Bala : (Shy) My dream boy should be someone just like my first crush. I had my first crush in school. Someone who is very confident, who is down to earth, caring and concerned and very understanding. I don’t like someone who is possessive. So, these are certain things what I look for in my guy.

Mygirlypedia  : What’s the secret of your positivity?

Bala : Secret of positivity is just love yourself. When you love yourself unconditionally, positive vibes just flow. Live for yourself. Do not hate your life no matter what.  Don’t owe any justification to anyone for being you.

Mygirlypedia  : Who is your favorite fashion designer?

Bala : Payal Singhal and Anaita Shroff, both are my favorites.

Mygirlypedia  : Who is your fashion icon?

Bala : Namrata Soni. I love her fashion sense.

Mygirlypedia : One celebrity whose wardrobe you would love to steal

Bala : Sonam Kapoor.

Mygirlypedia : When was the last time you shopped and what did you buy???

Bala : Yesterday and I bought some ghagra, jewelry and anklets.

Mygirlypedia : Which is your favorite kind of attire – Indian or western??

Bala : Indian, always.

Mygirlypedia : Which is your favorite piece of accessory, without which you feel incomplete?

Bala : Neck piece.

Mygirlypedia : Favorite nail paint color?

Bala : Red, pink and black. But red more.

Mygirlypedia : Your favorite lipstick shade.

Bala : Red. It’s classy.

Mygirlypedia : Which is your favorite cosmetics brand?

Bala : My glam. Namrata Soni is brand ambassador. So yes My glam is my favorite.

We all have one life to live. On top of that, tomorrow is not promised for anyone…!!!

If you spend this life in pleasing someone else or especially ‘society’, you will have a biggest regret while we are on death bed.

Least we can do to make full use of this life is to have that little craziness or that little guts to follow your heart. Most importantly to be kind to others. Sounds difficult??? Well, it is OK if you can’t help someone or be kind, but at least don’t trouble or don’t be rude to someone.

The LGBT people are just like us. They are like the way they are. They have been created that way. It is absolutely nothing to do with mental health or their up bringing and definitely nothing do with ghost or black magic. Just to simplify your view – they are like a soul trapped in a wrong body. Post talking to this girly soul, Bala, I truly believed that.

So, the next time if you hear someone saying such things, do correct them. Because instead of liking posts on social media about LGBT, lets spread knowledge about them and help them with their fight to make this a livable society.

They are just like us who need love and respect at the end of the day.

Be kind, be fabulous. 🙂

Nivea Coloron Crayon : Review and Swatch

You might have seen the Nivea lip balm in the local drug stores. Might have tried them too. Recently in my rndom haul, I came across this new launch from Nivea that is coloron crayon. Being super enthusiast for lip products, needless to say, I did by this product. Let’s see more about this product.

They have three shades in this range:

Click on the images below, to buy the shade you like.

1 Pop red

2 Coral crush

3 Hot pink.

Only first two shades were available in the store I visited and I went with the shade Pop red.

What does company claims:

Ingredients:

Price:

299 INR post discount 249 INR for 3 gram or 3.3 ml

Shelf life:

29 months. Once opened, 12 months.

Packing:

The outer cartoon has this all the details about the product including the mode of use, ingredients etc.

The product comes in crayon packing. it’s beautiful red stick with the name of the company printed on it. The cap covering the product is transparent which makes it easier to recognise the colour of the product using. The bottom is the white twister you can twist it, in order to take out the product. The red and black color combo makes it look pretty.

The crayon packing is a good travel companion.

Shade:

It’s a pretty red shade, which is ideal for a day out or party.

Is it moisturizing:

Yes. It does keep your lips moisturized. My lips felt moisturized for about four hours, while I was in air conditioned environment. Mentioning this because you know air conditioning makes skin dry.

But I must say, if you have dry lips, it does highlight the cracks. Even though your lips feel moisturized, the cracks are still visible. Strange… 😪

Texture:

It has creamy texture. Has shimmery particles. But it doesn’t look tacky, but I’m not a fan of this kind of finishing either.

Does it transfer:

Yes it did.

How long did it last:

Company itself has mentioned on the product to reapply to keep lips moisturized and tinted, so can’t expect a long lasting formula.
The shimmery texting fades away pretty soon, with water and food. But it leaves the tint on your lips. This lasted for about three to four hours on my lips.

Once Applied

My take:

This is a pretty good for the amount we are paying. It moisturizes lips and gives good color payoff.

Even though I know some lipsticks which are good at keeping lips moisturized and cost you less, this product wins when it comes to moisturization. My lips didn’t feel the need for a lip balm.

But I didn’t like the fact that it highlighted the lines or cracks on lips.

Pros:

  • Availability.
  • Travel friendly packing.
  • Keeps lips moisturized.
  • Good color payoff.
  • Decent deal for the money paid.

Cons:

  • I’m not a fan of shimmery finish.
  • Highlights the cracks, if you have dry lips.

Mygirlypedia rating: 3/5.

Useful Sheet Mask Tips To Make The Most Of It

It doesn’t really matter whether you are a beauty and skin care freak or not; I am sure if you live in the world of Instagram, you have seen these sheet masks while scrolling down the infinite Instagram feed. Haven’t you???

IMG_20190205_220742.jpg

You might know the basic about these sheet masks, let me share some of the tips and tricks to follow while using one. I am sure you will find it useful for your next pampering session with the sheet masks.

What is a sheet mask?

It’s a serum infused paper mask.

Why sheet mask???

Primary purpose of using a sheet mask is to add hydration to your skin.

Sheet mask or a moisturiser???

A good moisturiser adds moisture to your skin (which you all know). But sheet mask on the other hand has serum in it. Which in comparison with moisturiser, easily gets absorbed by skin. Thus, adding maximum moisture your skin needs.

Packing of sheet mask

Sheet mask comes in a pouch packing. A sheet mask which is dipped in serum.

Sheet masks before CTM or after CTM?

Ideally, it’s the M in the CTM where you moisturise. So, it’s always preferred to cleanse your face thoroughly and then use sheet mask. I personally skip toner.

Never use the sheet mask while the makeup is on or there is dirt on your face. Because adding moisture on makeup or dirt is going to clog pores which will end up in breakouts.

How to use a sheet mask?

Unfold the sheet mask and place it on your face. It ha these gaps for your eyes, mouth and nostrils.

For how long should I keep the sheet mask on?

Sheet mask should not be used more than 15 minutes. Reason being, 15 minutes is good enough for your skin to absorb the serum. If the sheet mask left more than that, the drying/ dried sheet masks can start absorbing moisture from your skin. So, doing no good to your skin.

IMG_20190128_224227__01.jpg

How to make use of the excess serum in the pouch?

I love layering the serum on my face once I am done using the sheet mask. I also apply serum on my hands and feet sometimes. Ultimately, it’s a serum which adds moisture. Our hands and feet also need moisture, right?

Should I wash my face after using a sheet mask?

A big no. Because if you do so, it’s absolutely a waste of time and of course the money spent on masking. The serum which is absorbed by the skin should be left to see it’s magic. If we wash face, the serum will be gone, skin won’tbe benefited much.

Should I use moisturiser post sheet masking?

Umm it depends on your skin type. If you really feel the necessity for more moisture, you can. But usually serum in the sheet mask is quite heavy and most of us might not feel the need for moisture.

Should I use the sheet mask daily?

Even if you have dry skin, I don’t really suggest you use sheet mask every day. Because sheet mask is a huge source of moisture. Everything should be in moderation. So, I don’t personally prefer to add so much moisture every day to my skin.

How frequently should I use sheet mask?

If you have dry skin, 3 times a week should be good enough. If you have normal to oily skin, twice should be ok.

How long the results going to last?

Honestly, a day or max two.

Special Tip:

If you have oily, choose the sheet mask wisely. As your skin is already oily, you don’t need more moisture. Sheet masks like shea butter, avocado is something which you better avoid.

If your skin is prone to acne, sheet masks which is meant for skin type like green tea should be helpful. They add moisture also takes care of skin.

If you want to make your own sheet mask, check this out. Where I have mentioned how to make one at home.

I hope you find the post useful. Have any more query or tip??? Feel free to comment below.

How Do I Use Nivea Creme In Different Ways

Hello beautiful,

Let’s talk about a very basic skin care product today. Which can be used in different ways. Umm it’s kind of a budget friendly post, where you spend money on a cheaper product and use it for different purposes.

As the heading of the post says, I am talking about this cute little blue tin of Nivea, which I am sure you are familiar with. Pretty more chances that most of you had or have bought this tin somewhere during your local drug store haul. Haven’t you??? If I heard a No, well, you will buy once you finish reading this.

Let me share some of the ways I make use of this little box of magic.

  • Moisturizing:

The prime factor of Nivea is the super moisture it provides. I personally prefer to apply this heavy cream on my elbows and knees. This provides heavy moisture that my elbows and knees need.

  • Under eye cream:

If you have dark under eye area or puffy eyes, all you need is that extra moisture to pamper it. As you might already know, skin covering the under eye area is very delicate. It requires more hydration. Instead of spending more amount on an eye cream, spend only INR 39 to take care of under eye area. 😃 Sounds super budget friendly right… ? 😉

Applying a thin layer of Nivea before hitting the bed at night, should be helpful.

PS : I sometimes use it during the day as well. On under eye area, before applying any makeup.

  • As a lip mask:

Sitting in air conditioned environment??? Huuh… no matter how the weather is outside, our skin and especially lips get dry. I have a quick tried tested tip for dry lips and skin around mouth.

Apply a layer of Nivea on lips and around mouth. Let it absorb for around ten minutes. Take a wet cloth or wet wipe, wipe the cream. This will make sure the lips are hydrated and skin becomes soft.

I don’t prefer using it as a lip balm because it is too heavy and makes lips look visibly white (you know what I mean.)

  • As a foot cream:

Skin covering our feet is thick and needs heavy moisture. Apply Nivea to your feet and cracked heels. Cover it with socks and enjoy your beauty sleep. Wake up with much softer and happier feet.

  • Shaving Cream:

Applying Nivea before using razor will avoid cuts and also leaves skin smooth post hair removal.

  • As a Hand Cream:

I carry this tiny Nivea tin with me while I travel or I’m out. This will easily fit in small clutch or even inside jeans pocket. I have dry hands and that annoys me a bit sometimes. A quick layer of Nivea is what is enough for me to make my hands baby soft.

Special Note:

As much as I love using Nivea in above mentioned ways, I personally don’t prefer using it on my facial skin. It’s heavy and might clog pores which results in breakouts.

Hope you find it useful to replace some of the expensive skin care products with a super budget friendly Nivea tin.

PS : This is NOT a sponsored post and tips written are out of my own ‘tried and tested’ list.

Black Dress And Bold Lips : OOTD

We all have two moods when it comes to dressing up – either we dress up like a homeless or we dress up like we are going to meet our worst enemy. Well I had a latter one kind of a day.

Thought that initiated this look is ‘bold lips’. You guys know how much I love lipsticks or any lip product in general. Seemed like my whole collection was wandering between different shades of either red, pink or some shades of n*de. Umm light, cool shades in general. Recently I came across some pictures of one of my favourite influencer @avantii2 on Instagram. She had carried these bold lips so elegantly that I had to, had to try my hands on them.

Lipstick alone is a great accessory you can carry. I did exactly that with this look. Tried these bold lips for the first time. I kind of like it. I used two shades of lipsticks from Elle 18.

About choosing this outfit. For the zillion time – Black is my happy colour. It’s classy, always. Winter is my favourite season of all. I love layering up. This black body hugging outfit is from the brand ‘Forever 21’. The turtle neck and the fabric is just perfect for a dinner night during chilly winter nights. The cold shoulder sleeves add some fun to the outfit.

It is still quite cold here in Pune. So just to increase the points in layering game, chose to wear these stockings.

Footwear – These black heels from the brand catwalk, bought online from Myntra.

Why You Should Add Rice and Banana Powder To Your Makeup Bag

Hey Beautiful,

Makeup or the beauty industry is huge and interesting. There is always one or the other new trend, new product that enters every single day. Some make the world go crazy, some might not. Some become the trend of the year some become disasters. Today I am going to talk about couple of products I found interesting when I heard about them.

Rice Powder:

The first product I am talking about is rice powder. Ummm as the name suggests it is inspired by the rice powder or flour. Rice flour is a good oil absorbent thus a boon for oily skinned girls. It absorbs the extra oil and thus saying bye to the shiny/ greasy face.

When I say it is ‘inspired’, obviously I am not talking about using rice powder as a cosmetic because if we do so, we will end up looking like a ghost.

There are multiple brands who have introduced this product called rice powder to the market. They come in different colour shades to match different skin tones.

Rice powder is basically lose powder, applied on face for a flawless look. You can say they work like compact powder. Applied post applying foundation. To absorb extra oil and for a flawless, matte finish. So, if you have oily T-Zone, do try rice powder.

Banana Powder:

Even a famous celebrity like Kim Kardashian has this in her ‘makeup must’ list. So, what is banana powder???

Banana powder is again a lose powder but of yellow under tone. This is usually used as a corrector to correct or to hide unevenness of skin. Typically used above the concealer. You can use banana powder as a highlighter as well. This also suitable to be used all over the face post applying the foundation. Banana powder gives you a flawless, highlighted finished look.

So, this was one of the quickest post on my blog. Hope you find it interesting.

The Body Shop Almond Milk and Honey Body Lotion : Review, Swatch

Hello Beautiful,

Body lotion is something which is really essential for my dry skin, especially in winters. Usually I do get tired of same lotion so I happen to try many varieties of body lotions/ creams. I will review one by one of those which I have not reviewed on my blog yet. Meanwhile if you want to know what are on my top of the best body lotion list, check here.

So, today I am reviewing this white beauty from the brand “The Body Shop”. 😊

I still remember the day I had bought this beauty. The moment I entered the store, I could smell this fragrance. I immediately asked the sales assistant their, about this product. She showed me this range of products and rest is history haha.

Let’s see how this product is.

Brand: The Body Shop

Range : Almond Milk and Honey

Price : 950 for 200 ml

Click the below image to shop.

Shelf Life : 3 years. Once opened 12 Months.

What does the company claims?

48 Hours light weight moisture, absorbs instantly. Instantly relives the feeling of tightness and itchiness for sensitive, dry skin. Comforts, protects and restores moisture for sensitive dry skin.

Best part : It’s cruelty free. The Body Shop has special place in my heart because of their cruelty free products and the campaign they started to stop poor animals getting harmed while making cosmetics. 🐰

Packing : It comes in a tube packing, with all the details of the product printed on it. The design of milk, almond and honey looks beautiful. The white tube (sorry I had bought this tube last year and if the tube doesn’t look pretty white, don’t blame me. 😋) packing is quite hygienic as compared to tub packing. You don’t have to dip fingers to take the product out. The flip open cap is tight enough to carry this lotion without the fear of spillage. The tube contains 200 ml of the product. I can’t say that you can carry this easily in your handbag as it might take a pretty more space than any other travel sized lotions. But, it can be a good travel companion if you carry it in a travel bag.

Fragrance : It’s a very sweet and refreshing fragrance. If you love light note scents, this fragrance will win your hearts for sure.

Consistency : It’s a lotion hence it’s neither runny nor thick. Doesn’t feel oily or greasy once applied. Gets absorbed quickly.

My Take: I have normal to dry skin. Turns out really dry during winters. For which, I need a good moisturiser. This lotion claims to instantly relives the feeling of tightness and itchiness for sensitive, dry skin. Which it did. Post bath our skin screams for moisture. I did apply this lotion and as claimed it did relive the dry or itchiness.

But, I don’t really support the 48 hours of moisture thing. Because for dry skin, at the end of the day at least, you do need one more round of application of moisturiser. Even though I didn’t feel itchiness all throughout the day, but by evening my skin was dry again. So I can say 48 hours promise didn’t worked for me.

What I liked:

  • I bought this because of this lovely fragrance.Non greasy, non-runny formula.

Non greasy, non-runny formula.

    • Kept skin moisturized for good amount of time. Tube packing is hygienic.Travel friendly packing.

Tube packing is hygienic.Travel friendly packing.

Cons:

  • It claims that this is formulated for sensitive dry skin. But worked moderately on my dry skin.

  • 48 Hours moisture claim is not true for dry skinned beauties.

  • Falls slightly on the pricier side for the work it’s doing.

Will I buy it again???

Umm no. It did a moderate job on my skin. I have known some other body lotions which worked well on my dry skin with cost lesser than this.

Will I suggest this one???

It might not be a blessing for dry skin but it will work for those who doesn’t have one. If you have extremely dry skin and needs lot of moisture, you can skip this. Others can give it a try, especially the ones who love sweet fragrances and need less moisture to skin.

OOTD : Navratri Day 7, The Color Red

As a symbol of triumph of good over bad, the festival ‘Navratri’ is celebrated.  Nav means 9 and Ratri means night. This festival is celebrated to worship 9 different forms of Durga. People over different regions name the festival with different names and follow different rituals.

Also, people wear nine different colors on each day of Navratri. Each color represents  each form of Durga.

Today’s color is Red.

So, here is what I wore – Chikan embroidery Kurta and palazzo as a part of celebration at office.

IMG_20181016_153211_Bokeh.jpg

The bright red cotton Kurta has this soft thread embroidery work, which is famously called Chikan embroidery.

IMG_20181016_121832_Bokeh.jpg

The black palazzo also has this embroidery on it’s sleeves. Since the thread used for the work is also of same color, you might not see that in these picture clearly.

IMG_20181016_121156_Bokeh.jpg

However, being a good girl I have zoomed in the picture to show you the embroidery haha.

IMG_20181016_121953_Bokeh.jpg

Completed the look with the bindi. It gives a festive vibe.

IMG_20181016_153531_Bokeh.jpg

For accessories, I wore these red stone and white pearl earrings.

IMG_20181016_121902_Bokeh.jpg

My baby sis bought this wooden bangle from one of the shops in Bengaluru airport, for her darling sister (Meee…!!!). This is one of my favorite bangles.

I know it doesn’t really go with the red outfit if you look at it with the ‘matching’ perspective. But, they say dressing is an art. Sometimes it’s modern art (you know what I mean. haha)

No, seriously, instead of keeping all the accessories red, I just added this piece of accessory to keep the balance. The bangle is the resultant of mixing colors red and black.

IMG_20181016_121842_Bokeh.jpg
I love Candid Pictures… 😀

Have a happy Navratri all you beautiful people…!!! 🙂

OOTD : Inspired by The Movie Stree

Do you like horror films??? I don’t. I just can’t watch them, especially not in a theatre. But, recently with lots of courage, I did watch a horror comedy movie in theatre – Stree. Comedy was so good that it did balanced that horror stuffs. Phew.

Thing I loved the most, apart from the individual performances, is the makeup and costume of the heroine.

Shraddha Kapoor is seen in ethnic attire with simple smudgy eye makeup.

The most interesting part of the entire look is her silver nose pin. This has definitely set a trend among girls.

So, for my birthday this year, one of my friends from work gave me this beautiful nose pin. I loved the hand written note the most, needless to say I am old schooled. 😊

My friend is such sweet soul, she gifted this and said try it out and do post on blog. I love those people who encourage others to pursue their passion.

19d4a145-c714-4588-98ef-14efbc336013.jpg

So, with all love and warmth, here is the look I created. Which is of course inspired by the movie Stree.

Stree Inspired OOTD

This kurta set is from Myntra. Black is my favorite (it’s an open secret now) and it’s something mystery, which suits the theme of Stree. 😁

Stree Inspired OOTD

The floral printed pallazos have these pockets. They are so comfy to wear…!!!

For footwear, my all time favorite open heels from 20 dresses.

Stree Inspired OOTD

As I said, eye makeup and accessories are been given good importance to create this look.

Stree Inspired OOTD

For eyes, I did a smudged eye look. I have created a YouTube video for it. You can watch it here.

Stree Inspired OOTD

Since eye makeup was quite prominent, I chose to keep the lips neutral. I have applied these lipsticks from the brand the body shop.

Stree Inspired OOTD

Accossories – Nose pin is a birthday gift. 😊

Chose oxidized bangles and earrings to go with the oxidized silver nose pin.

The black statement finger ring is from Forever 21.

Ah that small black bindi, just completes the look.

RABF – App That Let’s You Rent A Boy Friend. Wait, What???

Hello World,

Orrr rather hello crazy world….!!!

Ahhh you must be thinking why am I calling the world crazy. Trust me, after reading the next couple of paragraphs below, you are going to utter the same.. or even more…!!!

You must have heard about companies or mobile applications that lets you rent cars, clothes etc. Which I know are for some extent necessary in some situations.
Well, the crazy news I heard recently is about the mobile application that was launched in Mumbai and Pune on 15th of August. If you are thinking about this application is for social cause as this was launched on the independence day, ummm drop that thought. Even though the app developers might think it is for a social cause, I definitely don’t think so.

This application is called as RABF. Which stands for (be ready to read and face a brain freeze…!!!) Rent A Boy Friend…!!! (Like, seriously???)

So, this app is targeted the youth(read it as girls), who are under depression or suffering due to loneliness. Through this app, you can rent a boy friend. You can take him out for lunch and spend ‘quality’ time with him..!!!

Want to know further??? Well for FYI, when you opt for renting a guy (you can read it as a boy friend), there will be some good number of psychologists. Who will test you and they will let you know whether you really need a boy friend or not. By the way, this is definitely not a free session. For consultation you got to spend 500 INR. If the doctors/psychologists say yes, then you can choose boy friend from a list of guys, according to your ‘budget’.

PS: Screenshot courtesy, play store.

Yes of course there is a budget factor dude. If the guy is not a ‘model’ type (you know what I mean), then per hour you got to pay 500 INR. If you want good looking, models as your ‘rented’ boy friend, then be ready with 2000 INR per hour. If you have ever dreamt of roaming around with a celebrity boy friend, gal you need to pay 4000-5000 INR per hour. (Just to keep you grounded, celebrity doesn’t mean, you get to roam around with Hritik Roshan.)

I hope you still there…!!! haha. I have survived after checking details on the news. I hope you did too.

Post getting to know this app, ONLY one word came to my mind – “Why???” (Same tone the way Chandler says.)

Like seriously????

This is my honest opinion:

They say, men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. Men can never understand women. Well, this seems to be an excellent example.

Why on earth, girl with depression chooses boy over money…!!! Spending money on such app, to get boy, whom you barely know. Who I can bet is not really interested in your crap. Who is ultimately earning money at the end of the day is definitely not around you for your ‘company’. He is not going to be with you like forever.

Forget about the healing, what about your safety??? Our country has been declared as the number one country when it comes to the most unsafe place for a woman. What if the hired boy friend of yours, makes you the ‘news’ on the next day’s newspaper???

I mean with the amount of money you spend ‘hiring’ these men, you can do hell lot of things gal. Feeling depressed??? Get out of your home. Go shopping (my first favorite thing to do with money when sadness try to conquer me. Ahh it’s a therapy. ), donate money to someone who is in need. Trust me, sometimes the smile you bring on their faces can make your heart smile. Help animals. Feed them. The gratefulness in their eyes can make your soul dance with happiness. Take yourself out on a good dinner. Food is magic. A good food can make your day a happier one…!!!(I don’t know who all will agree. But I know my baby sis will definitely agree. We both order good dinner, in order to end our sad days on a happier note. It totally works for both of us. ) Go out and try some adventurous sports, travel, make memories.

You tend to make wrong decisions and try anything and everything to feel better, when you are emotionally high. Depression is something sensitive and I am glad people are opening up about it. I really hope none of my beautiful readers are going through any serious emotional pain. If so, I am always there to listen. 🙂

As per one of my friends, it might be a good option for some girls who are suffering from loneliness. Yes, I might not have come across such gals. But thats ok. All I can say to such girls is to learn self love. That will definitely help them in long run.

Your life, your choice. But just make sure you don’t regret your choices.

Be wise, stay safe. Love yourself. Andddd shop till you drop. Stay happy gal. Life is short to be nothing but happy…!!! 🙂

OOTD: Black is My Happy Color

Hey,

Yes, black is my happy color. Black is elegant, sophisticated, power, drama and mystery.

I know, I know, black is not so good for summers but pallazos are. As I have mentioned in most of my posts I love pallazos. It’s so flowy and comfortable. Plus, black pallazos can go with maximum tops or Kurtis.

I own two black pallazos (one, I had wore in this OOTD post) but recently when I had been to shop for one more pallazos, I opted for a floral one. Here it is.

It’s so flowy that, often people get confused it as a skirt.

This pallazos is from the brand AND, bought from Pantaloons. It’s ankle length one. Best part of this pallazos is the two pockets. Haha so helpful to carry lipsticks for those quick touchups. 💋

Thought of going monochrome so paired it with a black top. It’s a skin hugging warmer, from Jockey. Just to balance the look with the flowy pallazos.

Since it’s a plain top, I added charm with my favorite butterfly neckpiece.

Hoop earrings for ears.

Black finger ring is from Forever21. (Which you can see in the last picture)

Footwear from 20 Dresses. Flats doesn’t really go well with these kind of outfits and just wanted to match footwear with that of floral design of pallazos. Uff we girls and our matching game. Hehe

Did you like my Outfit Of The Day??? 😊

Compliments do make me and any other girl Happy…. ☺️☺️☺️

If you wanna know many more ways to style pallazos, do check this post.

Hope you enjoy styling this comfy piece of clothe this summer.

OOTD : Black Kurti and Maroon Jacket Outfit

Hello,

This morning when I woke up, I felt it’s Friday… But when I checked the date with those sleepy eyes, ahhh it’s still Wednesday…!!! Mid week fever… Phewww

What do you do to pull yourself out of your bed and later your home to get going??? I do two things.

  1. I ask myself ” Pallavi, don’t you want to shop???” “Yes” .. “don’t you need money for that???” “Yes” … “Then keep going”. (I know it’s the same case for most of you)

  2. I play my favorite game – dress up…!!! Many people say, you are always dolled up. DAH…!!! I don’t wait for an occasion to dress up…

IMG_20180314_130247_Bokeh.jpg

So, here is the OOTD(Outfit Of The Day).

It’s a black kurti with a V neck. The border and the neck line has this dark red line with off white thread work.

Since black is my happy color, I matched it with a black legging. I love the comfort it gives.

IMG_20180314_130428_Bokeh.jpg

About the most asked jacket of mine.( I have a huge love for jackets. And this particular jacket has brought me highest compliments out of my collection. Apart from my friends and colleagues, even some ladies at the boutiques and shops asked me where did I buy this jacket from.)

PS: I’m not praising the jacket but many of them did. Promise

IMG_20180314_130322_Bokeh.jpg

So this is a sleeveless jacket. The shining maroon jacket has the cris cross patterned thread work. The golden and the maroon color combination gives it a rich look. The thread work is only on the front side. The plane back makes it a perfect balance.

IMG_20180314_130344_Bokeh.jpg

So teamed up these three pieces of fabric to create this look.

Kurti – Globus

Jacket – Globus

You know how much I love earrings. This huge, off gold earrings are bought from a flea market.

I have fallen in love with ear cuffs these days….!!! The one I am wearing here is from Forever 21.  (You might have to zoom in the picture to have a look at them.)

IMG_20180314_130301_Bokeh.jpg

Earrings – Flea Market

I kept the accessories bit minimal. In fact I wore the earrings just to create the perfect look for the blog. I wore just diamond studs and diamond neck pendent for office. Because I don’t want to distract people. You know what I mean.

Neck piece – Ornate jewelry.

(The pendent may not be visible in the picture. Check here to see the dancing diamond pendent which I am wearing.)

Office Look, with diamond studs.

I kept it casual for the footwear. Comfy and matching haha. We girls think a lot about color combination. Don’t we???

Hope you like the pictures as much as I loved posing for it…!!!
