All You Need to Know About BB Creams

If you have been following me on Instagram, you already know which cream I use for daily purpose.

Some of you had few queries regarding BB creams. So this short yet informative post will help you with those queries.

Let’s start with a very basic question.

What does BB stands for?

BB stands for Blemish Balm or Beauty Balm.

What is a BB cream?

BB cream is a tinted cream which covers skin imperfections like a foundation, adds moisture like a moisturizer and protects skin from harmful sunrays like a sunscreen.

What Does a BB Cream Do?

It’s all in cream. It adds moisture, soothe skin, hide scars, protects from sunrays, brightens and adds glow, even out skin tone.

Some BB creams also have the ingredients to fight against aging.

Origin:

It was introduced by a German doctor 50 years ago. The prime purpose was to heal skin, cover the scars.

Isn’t a BB cream a kind of Foundation?

Foundation is slightly heavier as compared to BB cream. The coverage that a foundation provides is more than a BB cream. As BB cream is lighter, it gives light to medium coverage.

Difference between tinted moisturizer and BB cream:

Tinted moisturizer adds moisture to skin while adding glow or covering the skin issues slightly. BB cream is thicker than tinted moisturizer. It adds some moisture while covering skin imperfections and adding glow to skin.

What sort of finish does a BB cream gives?

Some BB creams give you dewy finish and some give you matte one.

How to apply BB cream?

Like any other cream, you can use your clean finger tips or beauty applicators to apply it on your face.

BB cream for daily usage:

Well the good news is, the BB cream can help you skip couple of products. BB cream sooth the skin. Hence you can skip Primer, if you use one. As mentioned earlier, it adds moisture so you can skip applying moisturiser. BB cream with full coverage can let you say bye to your concealer as well.

Apply BB cream on cleansed face if you have oily or normal skin. If you have dry skin and feel more moisture is needed, you can apply a moisturizer and then apply BB cream.

Even though BB cream does protects our skin from harmful sun rays, it might or might not do the work as efficient as a sunscreen. If you are going to spend whole day out in sun, I would suggest you to wear your favourite sunscreen over the BB cream for more protection.

How will I find a right BB cream for my skin?

BB cream comes in different shades. Do check the shades by applying the testers available in any shops. Because if the shade goes wrong, it might make you look a shade dark or pale.

For skin type, got to check the description of the BB creams about the benefits it is offering. In order to find the right one, you might have to just try few to find out the right one. Because dry skin needs more moisture and oily skin needs matte finished one.

Hope this helps. If you have any more queries, do ask in the comment section. Happy to help 😊

Primer :

For every skin type –

I would suggest one from L’Oreal Paris, Base Magique.

Foundation :

Are you thinking whether to use it or not? Have doubts about how to apply? Allll your queries regarding foundation will be solved here.

Normal skin –

‘Fit me’ range from Maybelline is good with maximum coverage. Plus, it has many shade options which means almost everyone gets their ideal foundation.

Oily skin –

Tea tree BB cream from The Body Shop is good with medium coverage. Tea tree is proven to be good for sensitive skin.

Dry skin-

everything comes with pros and cons. Bad news is you will have to invest in good moisturizer. Best part is once you are done with applying moisturizer, you are good to use any of the foundation.

But still if you ask any particular suggestion, I would say ponds CC cream is ideal for dry skin. It’s moisturizing and covers all pigmentation and marks.

Concealer:

You know why the Concealer is a must??? Check this post to know everything about Concealer.

Lakme concealer is been the best one so far. It’s creamy and gives you a perfect glow by hiding all the unevenness of skin. SPF is one more added benefit of this product.

Face powder:

Normal and Oily –

Face powder from Revlon, Faces is good. It doesn’t feel caked up. They are light and many shades available too.

wp-1508236512001..jpg

Dry skin –

I personally feel dry skin beauties should avoid face powder because it absorbs oiliness and makes skin more dry.

Lipstick :

Moisturizing –

Elle 18 has one of the best moisturizing and super affordable lipsticks. There are 18+ shades to chose from. Starting from INR 100.

Matte –

Chambor Matte lipstick (You can check full review here.)

Also colorbar has some amazing shades of matte finish lipsticks,  priced 300+ INR.

Lip gloss :

Maybelline has some very nice glosses. (Check the review here.)

Eyeshadow :

Buy Maybelline n*de eyeshadow pallet. They have multiple pallets to choose from. Soft colors to metallic colors… They have all…

Check the colors for yourself here.

Blush :

I liked the Blush from Maybelline. It’s super pigmented with affordable price.

You can also use your lipstick as your eyeshadow or Blush…!!! I do so. It’s super handy. You don’thave to go and look out a matching eyeshadow or Blush. But you save money. #yeahhh

Kajal / Eyeliner :

I love this Hyper glossy liquid eyeliner from Maybelline. Pigmentation, longitivity and price both are super cool. I have posted my whole experience here. I have posted my whole experience here.

If you are fond of eye makeup and want any help, this post is for you.

Mascara :

I have used mascara from multiple brands. But for me, one from Oriflame has been the best. It’s dark pigment and the applicator wand makes it an ideal one.

Did you know about ‘Permanent Makeup’…???

Hey beautiful,

On a long day at work, after partying all night, while running out of time to get ready in the morning; have you ever thought, how dreamy our day would be if our makeup would never fade…!!! Makeup with no touch ups…!!! To make this wish of makeup geeks come true, here is some new cosmetic treatment called ‘Permanent makeup’. By this procedure, you will have perfectly shaped eyebrows, kissable lips and perfect eyeliner all day long…!!! Sounds like a dream right…   happy tearsmakeup-tablet

My beautician had introduced me to this word ‘permanent makeup’ few years back. I was very much fascinated by the way she use to draw perfect eyeliner on her eye lids. I was curious to know how she manages to draw such perfect lines every time. I was surprised to know that those lines were permanent…!!! I must say her eyeliner was dark black and glossy. perfect She later explained and answered all my queries regarding the procedure, pros and cons. Today I will be sharing the info I had got, with you…

You too must be curious to know what permanent makeup is all about… Well, read on to know more…!!! wink

It is considered as micropigmentation(just like tattoo). This procedure involves needles to inject pigment granules beneath upper layer of the skin.

Most popular beauty enhancements are:

  1. Eyeliner
  2. Eyebrows
  3. Lip color
  4. Lip line
  5. Blush
  6. Eye shadow
  7. Eyelash enhancement

Procedure:

  1. This treatment is done in the supervision of dermatologists, cosmetologists, aesthetician, nurses, and tattooists.
  2. They apply anesthetic to skin before starting with it.
  3. Various devices, including the traditional tattoo coil machines, the pen or rotary machine (includes the digital rotary machines) and the non-machine or hand device are used.
  4. Pain during the procedure depends on one’s pain threshold.
  5. It again depends on individual that how long the color lasts. Depending on that, one or more touch up sessions are required.

This treatment is for those makeup lovers:

  1. Who desire a soft, natural enhancement to their appearance
  2. Who can’t wear traditional cosmetics due to allergies and skin sensitivities
  3. Who are active at sports like swimming, swimming, hiking, biking etc and still want to look dolled up all day.
  4. Who sweat a lot and due to which who need regular touch ups.
  5. Who find it difficult to apply makeup
  6. Who are lazy to apply
  7. Who are vision challenged people
  8. Who are fed up with busy people
  9. Who’ve lost hair due to chemotherapy, accidents, burns, or cosmetic surgery.
  10. Who have a difficult time applying makeup due to age or conditions, such as arthritis.

Approximate Cost:

Time consumed:

Approximately 2 to 2 ½ hours

How long does it lasts:

On some it lasts for lifetime without touch ups. On some it might fade and need regular touch up sessions.

Everything has +ve and -ve side.

Best part of Permanent makeup:

  1. Saves time.
  2. Doesn’t fade due to humidity and other weather conditions.
  3. No need to invest on makeup removers.
  4. Saves money which we spend to buy different makeup products.

The side effects that might be caused due to the permanent makeup:

  1. The chemical/ pigments involved might cause your lips to swell.
  2. Eyebrow after effect
  3. The skin around eye is very sensitive and delicate. The anesthesia given around eye might burn cornea.
  4. The eyeliner drawn might cause bruises.
  5. The artificial blush/ eye shadow application done as a part of permanent makeup might cause skin irritation. The pigments, if doesn’t suit your skin, it will affect large area of your face. This will have to be corrected with face surgery.
  6. These are cosmetic tattoos. If the needles used are not hygienic, it might cause harmful diseases.
  7. Pigments may cause allergic reactions to certain people.
  8. Make sure you choose someone well expertise in these procedures. Or else you might end up being a disaster…!!!
  9. I personally feel, after some time we might get bored of same makeup. I am someone who love experimenting different eye makeups. It might look good all day long but it will be boring to carry same makeup every single day.
  10. Undergoing MRI scan might become a headache. Its advisable to let your MRI technician to know about your permanent cosmetic in order to avoid  skin irritations.

permanent-makeup-vorher_nachher

There are plenty of women who opt for permanent makeup. If you really really feel you need this, if you are ready to undergo all these procedures, if you are ready taking risks, then only get this cosmetic make over done by an expert.

I would personally advice you to be happy in your own skin. Be happy with what you are blessed with. You are pretty, the way you are…!!!

Take care pretty…

Everything You Need to Know About Foundation

Hey you all,

No matter whether you are into makeup or no, you know or might have heard about ‘foundation’… So, today I thought of sharing everything I know about foundation with you guys…

Foundation, as the name suggests it is used for a perfect base. It evens out the skin tone and hides the flaws like acne marks, fine lines etc. Some uses it to change their natural skin tone(trust me, its not a good idea.) Plenty of foundations, of different brands and multiple shades are available in the market. You just have to find the right shade and right type of foundation, to enhance your natural skin tone.

How-Color-Match-Your-Foundation-Video

Types of Foundation:

1. Oil-Free, Matte-Finish Liquid Foundations – These are suitable for oily skinned beauties. These foundations covers up the flaws and give you matte look without making you look greasy/ dewy. Beauties with normal / dry skin do not opt for this one. You might end up with dry and flaky skin.

Liquid-Foundation

2. Long-Wearing, Matte-Finish Liquid Foundations – These are again for oily skin. They are different from the above one in terms of their consistency. These are more runny in terms of texture and long lasting. Application of these is quite easy.

3. Moisturizing Liquid Foundations – These are for the normal to dry skinned girls. Some of them also have skin repairing qualities.

4. Pressed Powder Foundations – These are like pressed powders. They are well suited for normal to dry skin. They provide you with light to medium coverage.

w

5.  Cream-to-Powder Compact Foundations – These are like a mixture of creamy and powder foundations. These are suitable for normal skin. Its coverage is more than the cream/powder foundations.

6. Stick Foundations – These are Cream-to-Powder Compact Foundations in a tube packing. The packing makes it easier for application.

e

7. Sheer Foundations and Tinted Moisturizers – These are multipurpose creamy foundations. They add moisture, gives coverage and protection from sun(SPF content).

8. Mineral Makeup – Powder foundation with more coverage.

How to find right foundation as per your skin type:

maxresdefault

1. Dry Skin:
If your skin is dry, go for the moisturizing foundations. Using sponge/ brush might make skin dry, so apply it using fingers.

2. Normal Skin:
These are the lucky ones. They can flaunt any type of foundation.

3. Oily skin:
Opt for the medium to full coverage, non oily foundation to avoid the greasy/ oily look. Applying foundation using sponge/ brush is recommended.

4. Combination skin:
You can choose liquid foundation. You can set it by apply powder foundation to your T zone to avoid the greasiness around the nose and forehead.

5. Aged skin:
In order to avoid fine lines and deposition of foundation on wrinkles, go for light coverage liquid foundation or tinted moisturizers.

6. Sensitive skin:
Medium to full coverage foundation is a must. But, I would personally suggest to check the ingredients before choosing one. The chemicals in there, should not worsen the situation. Hence prevention is better than cure.

How to choose right shade of Foundation:

These are the tips I am giving you out of my or my friend’s experience. :
1. Do not buy them online. You might think that the shade you see over the internet suits you. But, unless and until you try it, do not assume any shade.
2. Try the foundation on your forehead instead of on your wrist. The skin texture and color differs from wrist to face. For this, go bare face to store and try the shade which you think suits. Choose the one which matches exactly to your skin tone.
3. Do not buy the shade which is lighter / darker than your natural tone. This will never look good. Lighter shade will make you look like a ghost and darker one makes you look like a tanned face girl.
4. Invest in a good branded foundation. Your skin’s health should be the priority.

Types of Foundation Applicator and how to use them:

1. Foundation Brush:
a. Take required amount of foundation on your wrist/ palm.
b. Dip the brush in it and with upward stroke, apply foundation on your face.
c. You can use your fingers to blend those fine lines.
d. This makes liquid foundation application easy.

index

2. Beauty Blender Sponge:
a. Dip the sponge in water.
b. Squeeze the excess water. (This will avoid product wastage, as the wet sponge won’t be able to absorb foundation. This also makes foundation light and easy to apply.)
c. Dab foundation on your face using the sponge.
d. You can use either fingers or the sponge itself to blend it.
e. Use the tip for application on or around nose and eyes.
f. Broader end is for application over the forehead, chin and cheeks.
g. This is best for applying liquid foundation.

images

3. Powder sponge:
a. Press the powder against the foundation cake.
b. Press it on your face lightly for maximum coverage.
c. Do not rub it on face, this will remove the makeup instead of settling foundation on face.

t

4. The natural one – your fingers:
a. You can take sufficient amount of foundation on your finger tips.
b. Apply it on your face with circular motion.
c. I personally recommend this because the blending is really easy and product wastage will be minimal.

How to Apply Foundation:

a. Prepare your face before applying foundation , by applying primer. (Primer is a clear gel, which shrinks the pores. This makes face look more even and clean.)
b. You can use concealer before or after foundation. This hides the marks/ uneven skin tone.
c. Now you can apply the right shade foundation suitable for your skin type.
d. You can use any applicator of your choice, whichever you are comfortable with.

Some more tips:

  1. Always apply foundation on a clean fresh face.
  2. Maintain hygiene. Keep your brushes/ sponges clean. (Will write separate post on how to clean the beauty tools soon.)

Hope you find these tips useful… 🙂
