This is Why I Do Not Use Facial Wipes

Recently, Kylie Jenner was slammed for advertising  makeup wipes for all right reasons.

For those who are not aware, Kylie has cosmetics as well as skin care range on her name. One of the products in her skin care is the makeup wipes.

She claims that the wipes remove waterproof makeup, matte lipsticks

In the promotion video she is seen advertising the product but we cannot see her using them on her skin. She just removes swatch of lipstick from her hand..! She can be seen blindly recommending the products to her followers.

While watching one of such promotional videos of her skincare range, what caught my mind was her sentence “I have used some yummy products to make these”…

a. If they were really yummy, these would be edible.

b. If they were that real yummy, why don’t Kylie use them on her skin to demonstrate.??

Forget about Kylie, let’s talk about makeup wipes. There are ‘n’ number of brands that have released makeup wipes in the market. Are they really good??

Just to give a brief background, makeup wipes/ cleansing wipes/ facial wipes, as name suggests they are used to wipe away makeup products.

How to use?

You need to rub the wipes against your facial skin.

It is said that the wipes have ingredients that melt down the makeup products.

Are they reusable?

No..! They are for one time use.

Does they really efficient?

Answer is NO.

GettyImages-531459359

Some facts:

  • Makeup wipes are not at all ultimate cleanse. You have to wash or cleanse with other product after using makeup wipes.
  • Makeup wipes do not melt all sort of makeup products. So 100% not efficient in cleaning the face.
  • Rubbing the wipes against skin is not at all recommendable. The friction causes damage in the wrong run. Girls with sensitive skin, please stay away.!
  • You need to put good amount of pressure while rubbing the wipes. It is said that this pressure applied can push the makeup products inside facial pores instead of cleaning it. If not cleansed again with other cleansing product, this will result in breakouts.
  • As I said, makeup wipes have certain ingredients in them that are meant to melt makeup. But, there is good chance that those ingredients are not meant for your skin..!

Makeup Wipes are not good for environment.

Makeup wipes may look like they are made of clothes. But in reality they have plastic content in them. You already know, plastic is not biodegradable. Hence, if you don’t want to contribute to the already increasing global environmental changes, please stop using wipes.

Now you know why Kylie is being slammed for her marketing gimmick. She is smart enough to know these facts about wipes and that’s why she did not use them on her skin. Not even to advertise..!! She just used some ‘yummy’ words to sell them.

So, to keep your skin and our planet clean and happy, please stop using makeup wipes..!!

If you are using makeup wipes and do alternative, go for a good cleanser. If you have dry skin, go for oil based cleanser. Water based cleanser is good for oily skinned beauties. Normal skin girls are blessed ones..!! They have plenty of choices to choose from..! 🙂 For this change, your skin and mother earth will thank you.. 😊

Home Remedies for Open Pores

Hey beautiful,

Few of my friends were asking me to write a post about open facial pores. So, finally here is the post about and remedies for open pores.

What are open pores???

Skin is made of pores. They help in skin to breath. For most of the ladies,as they age, skin loses its elasticity thus making the pores on face bit huge and visible to n*ked eyes.

When excessive oil and dust get accumulated in these pores, they result in blackheads or pimples. Thus making skin worse.

What causes open pores???

There are multiple reasons, mainly

  • Sun exposure
  • Aging
  • Bad skincare routine
  • Genetic
  • Stress
  • Chemical reaction

How to cure them???

Shrinking the pores is something we need to do to stop this skin problem. Keeping pores clean will make them less visible and avoid further issues.

Let’s check what we can do to say bye bye to nasty pores.

  • Ice

Remember, I had mentioned ice as primer in few of my posts?? Yes, ice gives skin tightening effect and helps in closing pores. You just have to press ice on face or wash face with ice cold water.

Use diluted apple Cider vinegar to clean your face. This solution has antibacterial qualities. Thus cleaning, closing pores and maintaining PH balance of skin.

  • Baking Soda

This is an all rounder. This exfoliates, it’s anti bacterial and anti inflammatory properties clean the pores and helps in reducing them. Apply a thin layer of baking soda and water paste on face. Leave it for few minutes before washing it away, to get desired results.

  • Lemon

Apply lemon juice on face. If you have dry skin, it does give you tingling effects. Lemon juice is good bleach, cleanses pores and fades pimple scars.

  • Aloe Vera

Applying fresh aloe Vera gel over face, helps in shrinking pores. Moisturizing property of it, helps skin.

Its about Concealers…!!!

Hey Sweetie pies,

I am so refreshed after the awesome weekend I had. Do you want to know what I did last weekend??? I had been to trekking at ‘Visapur Fort’ and visited ‘Bhaja Caves on Saturday. The scenic beauty, rain, the company of some great friends and the amazing historical caves refreshed my soul.

Last evening, I had been to MAC store (it’s like a holy place for us, the makeup addicts/shopaholics). Bought an eyeliner, which I will review soon.

I must say; as much as I enjoyed my weekend, I missed blogging here at my girlypedia. In order to cover up for the last two days, I am writing this post about ‘flaw covering’ makeup product – ‘Concealer’.

So, what is concealer?

Concealer/color corrector, used to mask dark circles, age spots, large pores, and other small blemishes visible on the skin.

Why concealer???

Like I said before, it is used to hide flaws and achieve flawless finish.

When to use concealer?

Concealer is usually used after primer, before/after foundation. But I would suggest you to use it before foundation to get smoother and flawless result.

images

On which part of face do we need to apply concealer??

  • If you want to even out whole skin tone of face, you can apply it all over face. Make sure you choose same shade as that of your natural skin tone.
  • Else, you can apply under eyes, on blemishes, on uneven patches, around mouth (if you have darker skin around mouth), pimples etc.

What are the differences between foundation and concealer?

  • This is similar to foundation but it is thicker which helps in better coverage.
  • Foundation is applied on large area of face. Concealer is used on under eyes, on pimple scars and on other types of flaws on face.

Can we use only concealer on face??

Yes you can. You can also use lose powder to get clearer look.

Do we get concealers in different shades???

Good news is yes…!!! There are multiple choices when it comes to shades available for concealers.

  • I would suggest you to choose a concealer of shade one or two lighter than your skin tone for hiding dark spots. The reason behind this is, when you apply concealer of lighter shade on the darker spots like pimple scars, will even out skin tone…!!!
  • You can pick a concealer similar to your skin tone if you just want to hide or blur minor imperfections.

Are there any different forms of concealer???

Yes… There are multiple liquid and solid/ cream form of concealers.

What are the types of concealers???

  • Yellow Concealers:

This is safest type of concealers when you think of experimenting. This is used to even out skin tone. It vanishes the uneven skin tone.

  • Pink concealers:

This is a savior for those beauties who have dark blue or purplish areas on face caused by pimples, broken veins, or rosacea. If the under eye area is darker, this concealer can be used.

P

  • Green Concealers:

This is used to neutralize red zones on your face. By red zone I mean, blemishes, acne, red spots. But it is recommended not to use it on dark spots and under eye circles.

Big question – How to apply concealer???

  • Apply primer to minimize the pores.
  • Choose a concealer of lighter shade.
  • Put few drops of concealer under your eyes. Using a makeup sponge, gently blot the concealer into your skin. (You can also use your fingers to pat and blend the concealer)
  • Apply foundation of the shade similar to your skin shade.
  • Blend it to get flawless look.

How to avoid looking caked up??

You need to prepare your skin before applying concealer, in order to avoid looking caked up. Apply primer/ moisturize face before concealer.

So, these are the questions popped into my mind about concealers. If you want to know anything more about this magical product, do let me know. Love to help you. Angel smile

FabIndia Intensive Hand Cream lemon… Fab or na…!!!

Hey beautiful,

You must be enjoying a great relaxing weekend. Make sure to relax your soul along with your body today…!!! It is much more important.

By the word ‘relaxing’, I remembered a hand cream which is very relaxing and refreshing for my hands. Read on, to know more about the cream in detail.

It is one of the best hand creams I have used till date. As I had mentioned in my last post about ‘Hand care’, hand cream is a must when you want to keep your hand happy…!!!

This a fab India product, named ‘Intensive hand cream’ in lemon flavor.

IMG_20160618_144250

Let’s start with the review…

What it claims:

An intensive, non greasy formulation that combines natural extracts with essential oils. While lemon lightens the skin, glycerin softens it. Regular application ensures your hands remain supple and smooth.

Ingredients:

IMG_20160618_144307

Price: 290 INR for 120 ml (112g)

Shelf life: 3 years

Packing:

This hand cream comes in a yellow tube packing. The white cap is flip flop one. I always prefer tube packing over a tub one. Tube packing is more hygienic, as there is no need to dip your hand in cream unlike for the tub pack.

It is sturdy and does not take more space in your hand bag. Hence, I can say it is travel friendly.

IMG_20160618_144407

Cream’s texture:

The white cream is non greasy and glides easily. It does keep your hand moisturized but doesn’t feel oily.  Little goes long way so value for money as well.

IMG_20160618_202029

Fragrance:

It has a strong smell of lemon. This might be a con for those who doesn’t like strong fragrance.

Staying Power:

It keeps your hand soft for 3-4 hours. . I prefer using this after whenever I wash hands.

Availability:

It is available in all FabIndia stores and over online.

Does this stands to what it claims?:

Non greasy:  YES. This is non greasy.

Intensive: YES. This is moisturising.

Lightens skin tone: NO. I haven’t found this one true.

Softens hands: YES. It softens very dry hands too.

My overall experience:

As I had mentioned in my earlier post, most of the time I spend in AC environment. That makes skin and hair dry. sob sob But, this hand cream is one of the essential stuffs I carry in my hand bag. Anywhere and everywhere. I will surely buy this again.

Pros:

  1. Non greasy.
  2. Very moisturizing.
  3. Available in fabIndia stores and online.
  4. Affordable
  5. Value for money.
  6. Cruelty free. Not tested on animals.

Cons:

  1. Does not lighten skin tone.
  2. Strong lemon fragrance might be a problem for those with sensitive nose.
  3. Contains paraben.

Do I recommend the fabIndia intensive hand cream?

YES. If your hands are really dry and looking for a good hand cream, this is the one for you.

Will I repurchase the fabIndia intensive hand cream?

Of course dearie…!!! My hands are thankful for this pick. wink
